OK, here goes. *takes deep breath*

I really, really enjoyed today! I felt so many different emotions while watching! I went from being on the edge of my seat with the Holden/Damian/Lily/Meg stuff, to frustrated with Reid, to sad for Noah, to excited to see Noah/Maddie, and then back to sad with the boys, and then happy to see Damian leaving, and then going back to frustrated and upset with Luke for calling Damian "dad" (WHEN HE TOTALLY SHOULDN'T BE OMG), and then back to being uber sad with the boys again. :(

SO MANY EMOTIONS.

I really can't wait to see what happens next week...after reading the day-to-day spoilers, I have to say I'm really interested in all of next week's stuff! Even the Alison and Mick stuff seems bearable, and I'm interested to see where that goes. Plus Lucinda! Yay!

But one of my questions about today...do you think that the boys are actually broken up? Or is this just one of their break-type things that they seem to be doing? I have a feeling it's the latter, cause if Noah truly wanted a full-on "we can't be together" break up, then he would have said it, and wouldn't have just said that they need to be away from each other during his treatment.

What do you think?

That really bothered me too. I get that Luke and Damian have gotten closer since he's been back, but Luke's only Dad is Holden. Grr. And I don't think Luke's going to be feeling much love towards Damian once he finds out Damian hid evidence that Holden was alive while he was grieving his death.

I was thrown for a loop with Katie asking Reid to move in with her. Um, what? It's bad enough he's causing trouble for the boys, so I really don't want him to become a roadblock for Katie and Henry. Unpopular opinion alert: I'm praying to the soap gods that they'll get back together. I didn't think it would happen again, but for a while I was starting to think it could.

I don't read spoilers, so I have no idea what's going to happen with Reid. It could either be really really awesome, or really really bad. But I have a feeling it will be the latter.

I'll come back later to talk more about what I thought about the episode, but for some reason, unlike a lot of others, I didn't mind when Luke called Damian, "dad". I actually almost teared up at that part! :crying It was like a small part of his vulnerability came out at that moment, and he was this small boy who's daddy was leaving him behind or something. IDK. :D

to frustrated and upset with Luke for calling Damian "dad" (WHEN HE TOTALLY SHOULDN'T BE OMG)
I've spent more time than I probably should have today going over this scene and this line in particular. And this is the conclusion I've come to.

Ok, so from the viewers POV, Luke TOTALLY shouldn't be calling Damian, "Dad." There isn't anything remotely "Dad" about Damian. He's cruel, deceitful, capable of horrendous crimes, a liar, and basically everything Draco Malfoy wanted to be when he grew up. But to Luke, well Luke doesn't have the whole picture. At least not yet.

To Luke this is a man that has truly shown that he loves and accepts his son. First through treating Noah like an equal, acknowledging their relationship and Noah's place in Luke's life. He's been there to support other members of Luke's family, which is huge to Luke. Yes, he's made mistakes and Luke had been pissed off at him, even recently, but who hasn't gotten peeved at a parent for one reason or another? For Luke, Damian's been there. He saved him and Noah from the Z Twins. He's never once waivered in accepting Noah and treating Noah as if he were a son as well. He was there after Holden "died." He was there after Noah got injured and then did everything in his power to make sure that Noah got the care he needed from the best possible people and best possible places.

And now, when things are crap again for Luke with Noah, Damian calls him frantic, no doubt scaring Luke. Look at him in that scene. He's a little freaked out by Damian's actions - hurriedly packing, handing the ENTIRE business over to Luke, and acting as if he's never going to see Luke again. I don't blame Luke for doing what was probably a gut thing, calling Damian, "Dad." Because to Luke, and for Luke lately, at least to Luke's eyes, he has been.

Luke has really gotten close to Damian and Damian has been there for him. He has proven that he accepts Luke for who he is and he truly seemed fond on Noah. Luke doesn't know that Damain is a lying snake he just sees someone that he has grown to love leaving him and I think calling dad was just a way of telling him how he feels. Luke is going to be heartbroken when he learns the truth.
I think Van did a great job in that scene with Paolo.

Uh-huh, uh-huh! I love that he called Damian "dad", though I'd have preferred Luke to call him "Papa", since that's what he called Damian when he was little. Maybe they tried it and it sounded too young. But ANYWAY. I think he's always, on some level, "missed" Damian. Like, Holden filled 98% of the "father figure" void, but that extra 2% could only be filled by his bio dad. And I think he was at like 1.9% now that Damian was back and they were healing their relationship, and now that Damian's peacing out, that little piece of his heart chipped off and he just had to say it.

Luke was a total ball of amazing today. His woobie face, and those tears? NGL, guys, I teared up a little. Van rocked it like a freaking U2 concert.

As for Noah...I think it best I not articulate my feelings. Let's just say it's a combination of :headbang :postal :pullhair :pissedoff , and :crying because I miss liking Noah and Nuke. *goes and writes some fic*

Wow, thank you for that, Ailene! I never really thought of it in that perspective...I guess I'm just looking at it from the viewer's point of view and not from Luke's. And you are so right...Luke has no idea what he did to his mom and to Meg, all he knows is how HE was being treated by Damian. So that makes a lot of sense.

I still don't know if I necessarily like that he called him "dad", but that does help me understand where Luke is coming from better!

YES. THIS.

Thank you, Ailene, for putting that all into words.

I think that all Luke's ever really wanted from Damian was his love and acceptance, and he finally has both. And Damian has been wanting Luke to call him "Dad" for practically ever.

Damian's not perfect and he's made so many mistakes, but I don't feel like there's ever been a point where he didn't love Luke. So adding in the fact that he was just up and leaving with Luke only knowing that he was in some kind of trouble, I think that scene was just perfect. Van was just perfect.

This is not to detract from Holden's love for Luke and vice versa. I love me some Papa Holden, and I love his relationship with Luke. No one could ever take Holden's place in Luke's heart, but that doesn't mean that Damian can't have a place in Luke's heart, too.

Anyway, I fully enjoyed today's episode. I'm loving Reid, and I think he and Katie had some great chemistry (though poor Henry got booted to the curb).

I didn't mind it at all either. Luke's been trusting him for months, Damian helped him with stuff more than once, he married his mother again ... the "Dad" wasn't shocking to me at all.

It made me go "aww" actually because he really turned into this little boy who wanted to keep his dad from leaving the officie.

Gosh, my heart bled for Luke during that scene. And the tear, THE TEAR! OMG! :crying

Three scenes/moments that stood out for me:

1. Luke calling Damian "dad". It was beautifully played by Van. All the vulnerbility that Luke has always had when it comes to Damian came out in that one little word. And though I know his actions and he is horrible, the one fact about Damian that I KNOW to be true is that he loves his son. Now, I'm not saying that to justify anything. Far from it. But it is true. So that all came through in that scene and my heart broke for Luke, even as I was shooing Damian out the door.

2. Noah's face when Reid told him he HAD to keep Luke out of his sphere. Thank you, Jake. It was so perfect. This completely "What but no...", big eyed oh fuck, big swallow very reluctant nodding yes. He didn't HAVE a line that said he didn't want to but that facial expression totally protrayed that and I give Jake mondo props cause it made the last scene a little less harsh.

3. Last scene - so much angst. Luke being all confuzzled. Noah being all cold steely I have to do this resolved. Dude.

It was a good show.

So angsty ep. = LOVE.

My friend was over for a lot of the angst at the end (Damian and Luke "Dad" scene) but it was amusing because when we were talking, that's the one scene when she even turned her head to watch! :rotfl

But Van, OMFG -- that stray tear after Damian left...WHY?! :crying :crying :crying :crying

And yeah, I know people think Noah is being a bitch and a half but I actually think that it took Noah some strength to Reid's terms about Luke staying away (All thanks to Jake's delivery)

Yeah Reid really put Noah in the middle there and its not right that he's giving him these terms because a person shouldn't have to choose between the person that they love and whether or not to have surgery done. I mean Reid has a problem with Luke not Noah so why don't Reid just talk to Luke himself instead of being a jerk towards him and maybe work out a compromise. Oh well this is the same guy who wouldn't even look at Katie's son first either so I'm going to assume Reid has no compassion or heart.
