Question about Luke and Noah Wiki

I am really sorry if this is off topic, but I don't really have any other space to post this question. The moderators have my permission to remove this thread if it violates any policies.

I have been visiting the Luke and Noah wiki for a little over a year and just became a member this November. I have never had any technical issues with it until today. When I click on the site, the screen suddenly goes grey and a message pops up warning me that my computer may be harmed if I view this information. I think it also said something about a virus. I normally don't worry about these things because Macs are not usually susceptible to such issues, but I clicked out of the window quickly just to be safe.

Does anyone know why this message may be popping up, or has anyone ever had a similar problem?

Thanks for any advice!

I just checked, and I don't seem to be getting any such error. Perhaps you could try PMing twins1729 and asking them? I think it might have something to do with your computer though.

I don't get any error message either. I am a mod over there and this is the first time I've heard of such an error. Like MarvelAtThis suggested already, I would pm twins1729 and it's possible that it has something to do with your computer. I am no expert so I can't tell you what might be wrong with it.

The same thing happened to me the other day. My computer is set up so nothing can auto-install, so I was able to click out and move on. But when I went back the next time, nothing happened. My guess is that one of the Wetpaint site ads has malware attached to it. Similar things have happened on other sites (like with some applications on Facebook).

I've gotten the same message a couple times myself. It's someone attaching spyware to Wiki files I think.

I've gotten the same thing unfortunately. :( I think they've got some kind of spyware or malware attached to their Ads. Nads, maybe you all can talk about it and check it out?

Hai!

Yeah, sometimes the ads are evil. Probably where I got some of my viruses. :/

I PM'd the Mods at Wetpaint Central and told them about it, but I'm sure they've heard things about it already. Maybe some computers are prone to it?

I'm sure it'll be fixed. One time my McAfee yelled at me, but I went to another page (new ad) and it was fine.

Mr. Jeremy (can be kind of, coughrudecough), told me that no one else complains. And OF COURSE he asks if maybe my scanner was acting up. I was like, noooo and OTHERS have complained. *headdesk*

I told him an ad I THINK acts up, so hopefully he's looking into it.

How do you set up your computer so nothing will auto-install?

I've been getting a lot of spyware on my computer lately (and not just from the Wiki, since I haven't visited the site in the last few days), and even though I have AntiSpyware software that I use to remove it, it'd be nice to not have to run it everytime I get something on my computer. Which has been pretty much every day for the past few weeks. Oy.

I keep getting stuff on my computer, too. :/

Just now I had one, it seemed SOOO bad, but I deleted one little file and it was gone.

I keep wondering why all my virus programs aren't blocking things like they should. I had avast downloaded, and I like it and all, but that was what was slowing down my Internet.

Maybe I can ask Yahoo Answers. :P
