So according to like everyone :P the Mason storyline is gonna get pretty dark. I just finished watching some of the Q&A from Paris.

Both Van and Jake said they were kind of shocked when they heard what was coming up and it's not smooth sailing at all.

So....DISCUSS PLEASE.

I'm very intrigued by the comment that this story is a catalyst for the next Luke/Noah-centric storyline. And that Luke shows his Grimaldi side (which is the end justifies the means).

I think whatever Luke gets fed up with Mason and attempts to threaten or run him out of town only for it to backfire. Whatever he does seems to culminate (in my mind) with Noah getting hurt. Now this could be figuratively (like loosing his career). But since they say "dark" I'm inclinded to think poor Noah might get sexually assaulted. Date rape would be dark and give them a lot to work with - you have to figure Noah would have PTSD plus there would be all the accompanying doubts about why he didn't fight Mason off, why did he allow it to happen, etc. Maybe there's something in his background that leads to his passiveness perhaps?

I can't wait for November. :bored

My guess would be sexual assault. That would be pretty darn dark, with a lot of different kinds of long-term consequences for both Noah and Luke. It would also fit with Luke possibly doing something serious/major in reaction. AND it would give Jake lots of meaty stuff to work with.

It would be angsty and painful and difficult in a million different ways, and that would make it absolutely amazing to watch.

Sexual assault is everyone's number one speculation and we're probably right. Lilly over at vh.net just said, in response to a poster we all know and love who kept saying TPTB is writing Mason as a saint :rollseyes ,

Quote:

I don't think anyone would think Mason is a saint after what he is going to do.

The SL is going to give the boys some layers and I think it's a good thing.

I should add that while I think the storyline would be amazing, I'm torn over how far I think it should go (not to mention how far I think TPTB would be willing to take it). I'd almost bet someone (Luke) will end up interrupting before Mason gets too far. Plus then Luke could take things the wrong way, which wouldn't be a surprising element since they've brought up the Brian storyline a couple of times recently.

Oh shit! Sexual assault? Really? God, I hope that's true and not just inaccurate guesses or whatever. Because if really is true, then wow, that's intense. If they pull it off well (I already know Jake and Van will, it's more of a question of writing, I guess) it'll definitely be the most intriguing and intense storyline the boys have had yet. Though omg, poor Noah if Mason really does do that. :(

It does make sense, though. Jake and Van being shocked when they hear about the new storyline, the storyline being described as dark, Mason being far from a saint, plus all of the spoilers, though those should always be taken with a grain of salt - Mason gets aggressive and doesn't want to give up on Noah, Mason goes after what he wants, Noah tries to deal with what happened, etc. All signs really point to sexual assault. Holy shit, Mason is so totally gonna try to have Noah's babies

If that really is what it will end up being, major kudos to ATWT for being willing to do a storyline like that. :)

I don't really know what's going to happen in the Mason storyline, but I'll bet my bottom dollar that a scarf will somehow be involved. ;)

I've pretty much from the get-go of the change in this story thought it's probably going to be sexual assualt. How far they take it I don't know - but if Jake/Van were surprised how far it went then I'm thinking it goes pretty far. The reprecussions to what Luke COULD do to Mason that leads up to what happens to Noah or what Luke does to Mason AFTER he hurts Noah (which seriously SO won't be blaming him there) is where the story lies I think.

Add to that what Jake said about Noah going through some stuff, Van's gushing about Jake and Cady's mention of THIS story that she isn't EVEN involved in and I'm about to die from anticipation.

Also, I'm going to cry buckets, I know that already.

And what this does to them - individually and as a couple - is probably going to be epic.

According to SOC (not my favorite source) there are two interesting spoilers:

November 9th is when Luke gets sick of Mason and lays down the law (yay! Luke gives the smackdown!)

And "Somebody is the victim of disturbing violence.

It's NOT! LOL.

I had the EXACT same reaction. It's just that Noah is just such a woobie and I ADORE H/C stories like nobody's business. AND I love protective!Luke more then pretty much any other Luke except Bitch!Luke which I assume we ALSO get so THIS.

THIS. SO HARD.

I'm excited and terrified at the same time. If that IS the storyline, and it's written well, then it will ROCK LIKE A ROCKING THING. (And since Van and Jake are so happy with it, then whatever it is must've been written pretty well.)

But man, it'll be soooooo painful to watch. :sadpanda

I'm as excited FOR him as I am for myself, you know? Cause this? HUGE. This is giving something to Noah that he hasn't had before - layers. I mean, the bit that we do have to Noah is all Jake, IMO. Going that extra inch to give the character something.

BUT THIS.

This changes a character no matter what the outcome.

I srsly cannot wait.

First off...can I just say, that I LOVE how everyone on this board seems to just be on the SAME FREAKING PAGE! And it's all respectful and lovely, and I just love you all to bits and pieces! :grouphug

I also really hope that it will be a sexual assault story of some kind...but I am really afraid of what TPTB are going to decide to deal with and NOT deal with. Like, Luke was practically sexually assaulted by Zoe, and the show barely portrayed any repercussions of that whatsoever, and I don't want the same to happen in Noah's case (if it happens).

Sexual assault of any kind is not a topic that should be dealt with lightly, and I really hope that the writers don't half-ass the storyline. If they are gonna fully commit themselves to tell this dark story that affects millions of people every day, then they should give it ample time and let it develop in a deep way that involves many layers of both characters...not just let it happen, have them be upset for like two seconds, catch the bad guys, and then go back to everything being all right with the world. Because that does not happen in real life.

If they go this route, I really, really just want it to do justice to the issue, and not just waste the opportunity. I know Van and Jake are just gonna rock hard at this storyline (and I'm SOOO looking forward to Jake getting the chance to really shine for once), so that is what I'm really looking forward to...watching them play out their characters.

Also...I really, really, REALLY want to know what happens to cause Noah to leave/lose his job at Java. Jake kinda let it slip in Paris that Noah doesn't have a job, and Van was all like "Way to go, Jake!", so that led me to believe that Noah doesn't work there anymore. I'm really interested to see what that is all about!

You know - I don't think they saw that as sexual assault. It was, of course, because any forced intimacy is considered by definition - assault. But because it was so ridiculous - both the character of Zoe and her reasoning - and because it really didn't go far at all - they brushed it off.

This. I think this is different. It's been building to this point for some time now. Go back. Look at some of the recent scenes. You can see it start. So, I really REALLY think they aren't just sweeping this one away. They can't. Especially not if WE as an audience get to experience the build up and actual implosion of the story.

I think they are banking this story on the reprecussion rather then they actual situation that get them there. Like Van and Jake mentioned during the Q&A - Mason is the catalyst to the story. What happens with HIM kicks OFF the story they're in.

I'm literally salivating here. Because we've seen moments, scenes even entire bits of storylines that show off Jake's brilliance. But we've never seen what he could do with some REALLY heavy material. He is at his best when Noah is scared and confused. When he gets to be subtle. Quiet. Jake is a damn powerful performer during those kinds of moments.

SO THIS?

This is going to rock, IMO.

THAT'S what that was about! ::LOL:: I couldn't quite understand that whole exchange between them on the video, lol. Ooops. You know. Jake has a tendency to let stuff slip like always, lol.

Oh yeah! I totally didn't take it that way for some reason! I thought that by him being a catalyst it would drive them apart somehow and then the next storyline would start and they wouldn't be together or something. For some reason I wasn't thinking of them dealing with the consequences of Mason's actions as the next storyline directly. But that really makes sense now...and I'm even more excited!

I must have missed the video about Noah not having a job (or didn't hear that part). Very interesting indeed! Wow...it's hard to imagine Java without Noah not wiping down the counter...lol.

I'm also looking forward to this storyline. I'm holding out hope that between Van's comments about this being Jake's best work and the show having a new co head writer that we're in for some really great stuff.

YES. This is exactly what I love so much about Jake's acting (and, by extension, about Noah). He's so quiet about everything, so subtle, says so much with just his face and eyes, and it's so painful and wonderful to watch. And then when he DOES break out, it's that much more effective by contrast.

(And it really, really annoys me when people don't get that. It's called "nuance," people! Look it up! Sheesh.)

They could still VERY well break up. Because Noah can't quite deal with everything - it's ALOT to deal with. Or Luke doesn't know about the assault and Mason plays it off as Noah having been willing. Or they don't break up and deal with it together - but that still wouldn't be easy. Noah is going to have serious issues after this. Not to mention if they go to trial like it's been said.

Any and all of these things are what the next part of the story entails, you know?

I'm am ridiculously stoked and freaked out at the same damn time. LOL.

I won't mind if they break up, if it's just a missunderstanding. If they actually get angry with each other and say mean things, I won't like that.

And, of course, I don't want it to last any great amount of time.

What I'm wondering about is if Mason is going to be redeemed in the end sort of along the same lines as the whole Brian debacle. Because, yeah, he did assault Luke (or at least attempt to on some occasions) but during the last couple of episodes with Brian the boys sort of forgave him. I felt like they came to some mutual understanding.

I think the days of purely evil soap characters are gone. I mean, look at Damian for example. And as much as people want to vilify Mason I'm hoping that at the end his character will come full circle. I'm not saying that if the sexual assault thing does pan out that Mason will be one hundred percent accepted and loved. But that they move through the proper avenues with his character.

Regardless of what happens exactly I am super amped for the November storyline. And I wonder what happened to Noah that he's no longer working at Java. I mean, he hardly ever worked anyway and when he was working he always left or had someone cover so he could be with his booface. Jake totally let something slip during the Q&A. 'Way to go, Jake.'

I won't mind if they break up so long they make up :wub

I mean Nuke is a super couple and once in a while they have trouble and stuff happens.
But I like the scenes where they get angry with each other. That's when Van and Jake show their acting talent the best :D
