Because I'm dying to see a good movie. I have a couple that I want to see that are coming to my town theater soon that I absolutely HAVE to see, but anything else? We can share movies! Like, I'm sort of pimping out (500) Days of Summer like MAD right now. Because it's stupendous. It's SO unlike any movie you've probably ever seen. The narration reminds me of a Tim Burton film, and the humor like a tame Kevin Smith one. Not terribly tame, but yeah, not extremely vulgar or anything. And it's so darn funny. Seriously. And it has a BEAUITFUL soundtrack as well, and the art direction might make you cry. One particular shot when the main character is walking out into the street and.... Nope, don't even want to spoil it. Edited by Tanya, Feb 13 2010, 09:47 PM.

I love Hugo Weaving. So, so much. And in this movie, I loved him EVEN MORE. Can anyone say flip-flop dress? And don't get me started on the amount of eyeshadow they needed for under his ridiculous eyebrows. ![]() Yes. Recommendation echoed! |

To stay on topic - Tremors. That's all I'm going to say. And to venture slightly off topic - does anyone else want to see Gamer? It looks smart, sexy (hey, Michael C. Hall!!!), and highly entertaining. |

This week I went to see GI Joe not to bad plus it had the incredibley cute Channing Tatum Last night we went to see District 9. Not at all what I expected. It was kind of a really gross sad alien movie. Oh but they had a preview for the new movie Zombieland (with Woody Harleson) and my husband almost wet himself he was so excited LOL!!! |

a friend of mine said district 9 was amazing for how it spoke about apartheid. i want to see it, but i'm afraid i'm going to be devastated for months over it. movie recs: brigadoon, pump up the volume, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, some kind of wonderful, gas food lodging. |

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fight Club. Edward is great and the story is great too. The first time I watched, I was so surprised about the ending, that you know who doesn't really exists. |

OK...this thread is bad....bad bad bad bad bad! I collect movie tickets, so I go to the movies all the freaking time. Sometimes by myself. Yes, I am that weird. I could talk about movies all day...but that would bore you, so I will just give you some recs. First off: CASHBACK! Seriously, if any of you have NOT seen this film, then you really, really, really, have to! It's freaking brilliant! The main character (played by the super amazing gorgeous Sean Biggerstaff) is an art student who develops insomnia after breaking up with his girlfriend, so he gets a job working the night shift at a local supermarket. The movie is about how he and others who work there make their shifts go by faster by using their own special techniques of time manipulation. Sean's character totally appreciates the beauty of the female form, so he imagines he can stop time and he draws woman in the supermarket naked. There is a lot of female nudity in it, but there is no sex...it's all completely tasteful. It might sound a little creepy that he randomly draws woman naked, but it really isn't. It's done in such a way that you are just completely fascinated by what he does. It's really beautiful. You might think it's a weird idea, but you have to see the whole movie to really understand the amazingness of it. And it's a British film so there is a lot of humor in it...and seriously, it's freaking hilarious. I can't pimp this movie enough! Just go see it! Some other movies that I will say but won't go into detail about: Atonement (so freaking good!), Howl's Moving Castle, Shakespeare in Love, Citizen Kane (whoever said that earlier totally rocks!), Big Fish...and I guess that is all for now. But if I get a sudden bout of movie inspiration then I will come running to this thread! |

I'm excited because we're going to be watching that movie in my Film Appreciation class next week. ![]() Anyway, I should probably reccomend some movies. I just saw two documentaries yesterday. The first is called The Mirror and it's about a little Italian village that is in a valley between these two mountains, so they don't get any sunlight during the winter months. It follows the mayor as they set up this huge mirror on one of the mountains so it will reflect sunlight and hopefully bring more activity in the village square. It's beautifully shot, and the subjects are unique and engaging. The second is called Racing Dreams and it's about three young go-kart racers. This one I felt was a little bit exploitive, but I still think it gave an honest, raw look at what three different families sacrifice for their children's dreams.
