Evertom was born on July 7, 1795, in Harrisburg, PA. After serving a term in the U.S. House of Representatives, he reisgned, and followed Sam Houston to Texas, where he served during the war for Independence, including the battle that retook the Alamo after the massacre. Evertom, after the war, became the representative of Bexar county in the Republic's Senate.
