I've created a new feature called "Letters", which works exactly the same way as press releases do, enjoy it and post often. Political parties still shut down, stay independent if you want to make your own in time. ------New players must all sign in to Senate Sign-In ----- ALL NEW PLAYERS ARE SENATORS, NOT REPRESENTATIVES!!!!

Politics Heating Up as Parties Form
Politics in Austin are beginning to heat up as the Texas Whig Party and the Texas Democratic Party begin forming. The Whigs stand for Industry while the Texas Democrats stand for Agriculture and are weary of Mexico. It will be very interesting to see how these groups get along and how they differ. The main proponents of the two groups are Senator Jarramillo and Senator Harrison respectively

President Tempore
Harrison elected President!
Robert Harrison has just been elected the second President of the Republic of Texas! The other candidates were Mirabeau B. Lamar and Andrew Henderson. Robert Harrison, the charismatic Texian, won over voters through his firm position against both Mexico and the United States in occupation and annexation. Harrison, being a smart leader as well, also has begun to appoint leading Texians as his advisors to help lighten the national debt.

Election Results

1. Robert Harrison (Democratic Party)- 11,346
2. Mirabeau B. Lamar (War Party)- 2,794
3. Andrew Henderson (Independent)- 149

President Tempore
Harrison taken out sick as President, Jaramillo declared President pro tempore, Boyd becomes African-Texan President Pro Tempore of Congress
This month, Mr President Robert Harrison was taken out sick and Enrique Jaramillo has been declared president for the time being. Meanwhile, much to many Texans's rage, Phillip Boyd, a free Negro has been named President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate. Some hostile Senators even boycotted the Senate Session in protest of a Negro presiding over it. Some Texans are furious with the decision, in fact, Ernest Smith, a farmer in Bastrop County called the decision "shameful of Southern values". Most Senators are neutral about Boyd's newly-acquired position.
