Question: What class size ships are your screenshots showing? I'd think you'd have set sizes for ships already and I am really hoping that they can get bigger.

Hmmm, it looks like you can just place cannons wherever on the ship, including on top of each other? Can we get a breakdown of the ship mechanics or is there already somewhere?

1. Ships are sized whatever you make them.

2. Not really. They require free deck space. You'll probably also be able to make them stick out of the hull.

3. What do you mean by ship mechanics?

Look at that! Engine room. Aka hidden parts screen.
As you add hidden parts (like engines and stuff. Things not visible on the ship's sprite like stuff that are below deck), they will be displayed here, where you can remove them from the ship and customize them and stuff.

Basically the construction mechanics, if stats play a role, how cannons can be placed if not on top of others. You make a hull with different parts and if the parts are they visible in a certain way

Stats play a huge role, of course, by definition of stats.

I guess it depends on what kind of cannon it is. Most would probably require that rotating stand thingy. In that case, they'd need free deck space. Some cannons might be designed to be on top of other cannons. I don't know. I'll just have to try it and see how it works out. Some other cannons can go into slits in the hull, as is commonly seen in older ships, such as galleons.

The hull is made of different parts.
In fact, the hull is a part of the base. The hull is multi-layered on some ships, and thus the base is too. So what you're looking at for, say, a medium sized battle ship, is 5 layers of hull which comprises the lower deck, which all can hold parts, such as weapons and engines and stuff. After that is the deck. The deck might also be multilayered, such an upper and lower deck, both being open air; half the deck is higher then the other half. The cabin can be on its own layer, the highest layer, right above the (upper, if applicable) deck.
Visibility is affected in everything is drawn from the bottom up and the sprites of the parts on top overlay the sprites of the lower parts and combine to form one big image on your monitor that you proudly call "my blargship."

I hope I didn't confuse you more.

Do note these are subject to change, and the betas will NOT reflect this. These features will be added overtime as development continues. This is only the goal.
If something is found to not benefit gameplay, it will be modified. If new ideas come into existence that better the design, they will be added. We'll see what happens as it goes along.
