Pirate activities surge![]() EUROPE -- Pirates began a new wave of attacks against merchant shipping, coastal settlements and even fortifications. Traveling between countries across seas however, are still as common as ever however, many merchants are starting to hire mercenaries and other job finders to help project their goods as they cross the sea. However, many people are displeased that Governments across Europe are not taking measures to deal with this problem, and some have even started working with them. Should these trends continue, riots and inflation could start skyrocketing in isolated coastal communities. While countries like Denmark had started building navies of huge proportions, many other city-states haven't begun just so yet. It is expected than Venice and England to follow up with Naval building programs of their own too, to quell their stormy seas, but for now, the pirates are pretty much King of the Seas. Hampshire's Tax reforms brings down economy HAMPSHIRE -- "King Edward I makes the following reform to the tax system of the Kingdom, in an effort to shift the burden more towards the rich, and the large businesses" This was the word on the street in Hampshire. Big businesses taxed to a new rate of 35%. With low education standards, Hampshire lost its competitive edge to their European counterparts. Furthermore changes of the income tax policy to a Socialist approach, a staggering high 15% for the rich hits many living in the mansions on the run. Apparently, the policy to bring down the wealth gap has also brought down the incentive to work. NET Income over Gross Income as an individual moves up to another tier could actually be reduced in Hampshire! As a result, Inflation due to low spending has dropped to less than 1% and GDP Growth projections has gone down to a low 2.7%. Unless the Government steps in and make changes, there could be a recession in Hampshire by the end of Next Year. Jobs are leaving this country like a rat race. Probably to neighboring countries like England or Brittany, the later being a better choice due to heavy pirate activity across the channel seas. |
