Sephiran's voice was cold as he spoke the words to Zelgius. "We cannot allow them to meet," Sephiran said. "We cannot allow Christianity to take hold of Begnion." He turned to face his loyal knight. "Which is why I have a special mission for you. Sanaki cannot be swayed, and the time draws near..."

"Whatever you want me to do, my lord," Zelgius said. "I am your loyal servant."

"I need the Black Knight to kill Sanaki," Sephiran said. "Kill her tonight, bring her body outside, and nail it to a cross." He looked up. "The Christians use crosses as a symbol of their gods."

"It will be done..."

----------

It was a dark, stormy night, thanks to Sephiran's meddling with the weather. It paid, being a mage as experienced as he. He had needed to set this mood, making it perfect for a murder.

"Is there anything else I may do for you, Apostle?" Sephiran said with a smile. It was the night before the Christian leaders were to meet with the Apostle, and they were about to go to bed to face an eventful next day.

A young, barely-of-age female by the name of Sanaki looked up from reading over a tome,"No, but thank you anyway, Sephiran. You may leave." She waved him good by before continuing to read her book.

"Alright," Sephiran said. "I am going to rest, my lady. Call me if there is anything you need." He turned off the main light, leaving the lamp on for Sanaki, and moved to his bedroom, where he lay down, a smile on his face.

Outside, it was pouring rain. Lightning flashed, illuminating the room where Sanaki sat. That flash revealed a familiar silhouette as it passed by the window.

Sanaki now lay in bed, fully preserved under the protection of the covers, he one tome far away on the mantle of her vanity. She had just laid her head down to fall into slumber, when a figure passed by her window. Startled, the young Apostle jumped to her feet on her bed,"Who's there?!" She questioned, apparently terrified. How could some one have gotten passed her security out side her door? Besides, Sephiran had just left her room, no one could have gotten passed him walking out.

The lightning flashed again, revealing the Black Knight, who now stood above her, Alondite reflected the light that was nearly blinding. "Apostle Sanaki," the Black Knight said. "You are doing a sin against the Goddess, and you must be punished."

"Bla...Black Night? H-how did you get in here?!" She intrigued once more, now jumping backwards. Her nighttime garments flapping against her skin. The mighty fire tome still lay to far away for the Apostle to reach, and if the Knight before her was really the Black Night, the one in legend. She could not harm him. Therefore, if he was trying to kill her, she was doomed.

The Black Knight merely reached forward, grabbing Sanaki by the collar of her gown, while she struggled and tried to kick him away. "I have come to punish you," he said, and with his other hand, grabbed his helmet and pulled it off, revealing the handsome, blue-haired man that was the Begnion Supreme Commander, Zelgius. There was an evil smirk on his face. "Apostle."

"Zelgius!" Came the shrill shriek of the young maiden of Begnion, who was extraordinarily surprised by the true identity of the Black Knight, the feared General of Daein who has come to slay her. "Why? Why, Zelgius? Tell me why you'd want to kill me?" she questioned once more, not able to contain the tears that had been building in her eyes any longer, let them fall. The salty tears making stains on her shrieks of where the fell.

Her shrieks were drowned out by the pouring rain. Only Zelgius could hear them. "Because you defied my master," Zelgius said, positioning the blade of Alondite by her throat. "And it is now your time to die." With that, he slid the blade across her throat with expert ease, and Sanaki fell limp.

-------------

The next morning, a scream erupted through the streets.m A limb, blood-soaked, dead Sanaki hang from a cross in the middle of the capital of Begnion, Sienne, so everyone could see her. Rusty nails rested in her two palms and through both of her feet. Her eyes had the shocked look on them as before she was killed by Zelgius, also known as the Black Night. Her mouth still hangs a gape, and her head limply hangs down on her chest. A clean scrap indicates she died painfully, but quickly, as it was at the throat. The blood still trickles out of the very deep gash. The people of Begnion shrieked and started crying for their Apostle. The word spread quickly.

Lekain's hands crossed his chest. "This is a sign of the Goddess!" he proclaimed, his face one of anger. His adopted daughter, Jamie, who was Zelgius' fiance, weeped for Sanaki, and did not know why her father was angry, rather than sad.

Valtome was also stricken with anger as he sneered,"This will not pass by us! Those foul Christians assasinated our Apostle! Our link to the Goddess! They shall pay!"

"We must declare war on the Christians," Sephiran said, stepping forward. "We cannot let a heinous crime like this pass. The Goddess would not allow it. But there is one other problem. Begnion is now without an Apostle, which means, one must be sought. One with the same markings that all of the Apostles have..."

A local bishop stepped forward out of the crowd, "And what would that be, Prime Minister Sephiran." This man had bright orange hair, and wasn't really a citizen of Begnion. His name was Rhys, and he was here on behalf to bring Sanaki safely into Crimea for the meeting. Though, no one would notice he was now a spy.

"The symbol is upon the Apostle's wrist, but I have a picture of it right here," he said, holding up a book for the Senators and the orange-haired bishop to see. Zelgius looked closely, Sephiran had told him this was the Brand to search for.

Rhys nodded, moving back into the crowd after saying a quick thank you. Mend staff in hand, the orange-haired bishop ran back to inform the other Christians.
Rhys ran, not stopping all the way to Fort Oasis where Ike and friends stayed in residence and were getting ready for Apostle Sanaki. Rhys rushed in, startling those few around the entry way door. Titania was among the few and Rhys waved her off saying, "Sanaki was killed." He rushed to Ike. Ike was working on papers of the new recruits and other fighters joining his ranks when Rhys burst open the door to his office. The tactician, Soren, sat in a seat across the room at his own desk making plans and contemplating every maneuver the enemy could make to each plan, and making a contour action.

Ike looked up, saying, "What's wrong, Rhys? Sanaki here?" Rhys held a grim look on his face,"No. She was assassinated last night, and the people of Begnion is accusing us. Though, I got useful information; they plan on searching for a new Apostle, with the mark of the royal family. Soren should know what it looks like. I got a glimpse, but that may not be enough." Ike understood immediately. "Okay, Rhys. We will send a search team to find the new Apostle, and Soren will lead, you as the second in command. Go, now. No time to loose."
