The Rise and Fall of Netami

Part 1: The Burning Leaf

Intro:
My name is Netami. I was born into an unforgiving world filled with darkness. For the first three hundred years of my life I was trapped in a glass container filled with water. I had drowned in that prison for three hundred years! That is until he came... A man, or was he a demon? I can not say. He said that his name was Envy and that he had created me. Of course at first I had my doubts. But then he held a small mirror to the transparent wall of my prison, and I saw to my horror that we were exactly alike. The only difference between our bodies was in our eyes. My eyes are brown. But his were violet with slits for pupils. He told me that my purpose in living was to complete his goal of destroying the world and cleansing it of humanity. I decided to do his bidding. I fought many battles against many people. But when it came time to unleash my true power I blacked out. When I awoke I found myself in a crumbling city surrounded by my foes. They let me live and I began a new life but not before discovering that my creator had been sealed into my body by a holy warrior. One of my foes Orion Uchiha led me to his world, where ninja battle for control over the world. And so here I am. My name is Netami and I am the villain of this story.

Chapter 1; The Deal:
“The invasion is going on as planned despite Lord Orochimaru’s current condition. I want you to convey that to the troops, Ryujin.” Netami sits upon a chair with his feet propped up on a desk within a large cave in the Land of Rice Fields. Netami is a fairly young man. His hair is as black as night and his eyes are a dark shade of brown, perhaps sable. On his slim yet strong body he wears camouflage pants and a long sleeved black shirt. Over his black shirt he wears a light green vest. There is a black headband with a metal plate on its front tied around his forehead. Carved into the metal plate is the Sound Village’s insignia, an eighth note. The man standing before him is named Ryujin Ichido. Ryujin is considerably older than Netami. Ryujin often feels embarrassed that his commanding officer is so much younger than him. Ryujin wears a typical sound ninja uniform, a gray camouflage outfit with a gray smock. However unlike the other sound ninja he doesn’t wear a black mask to cover his face, instead he lets his spiky orange hair stay free. The only reason he is allowed to do this is because of the fact that he is a lieutenant in Netami’s unit of the sound ninja army. Ryujin is taken by surprise by Netami’s order. “Sir, don’t you think we should retreat after Lord Orochimaru’s defeat?” “No, we must avenge the loss of Lord Orochimaru’s arms. Anyway, the Leaf Village should be weakened by the death of their beloved Third Hokage. It is however unfortunate that the Sand Village pulled out of the war when they found out Lord Orochimaru murdered the Fourth Kazekage.” “How can we win without their aid?” “First of all, you have me. Secondly I have made alliances with the Mist Village and Snow Village, as well as a legion of rogue sand ninja led by my friend Akogi. Akogi has generously left the Sand Village behind him in order to help us in battle.” “When will we be meeting up with these allies?” “Well, we will meet up with Dokimaru at the crossroads between South Town, East Town, Port Town, and Rock Cave. We will probably meet Akogi in the village itself. Now let’s go over the plan. You and the troops will use a teleportation jutsu to go to the outskirts of Tanzaku Town. From there you will take a path through both Tanzaku Town and South Town. When you reach the crossroads and meet up with Dokimaru, go north through East Town and attack the southeast section of the village. As you go that way I will be taking a detour into the Waterfall Village. They say the hero’s water from the Waterfall Village can increase your chakra ten-fold for a temporary amount of time. I will be taking a sample of the water to Amachi in the Sea Country in order to have it analyzed and reproduced for our soldiers’ use.” “Do you think they will need it?” “Quite possibly. After all, our enemy is the Leaf Village.” “In that case I wish you luck Lord Netami I hope you succeed in your mission.” “I have no need for luck, I have experience. Now go rally our forces, it is time to go.” Ryujin bows and leaves to rally the soldiers.
Netami then gets up from his desk and walks outside. Suddenly a voice begins to speak in his head. “So, we are finally leaving huh?” “That would be correct Envy.” “Hope you don’t get yourself killed otherwise we will both go to Hell. Come to think of it, that might be fun. We could go see old man Bombastus, or should I say Fallen? Honestly I can’t keep up. His name changes like the seasons.” “Why don’t you just call him Dad?” “Because, I still don’t like him.” “After all these centuries?” “Of course, his own hatred burns through my veins. I’d kill him if he wasn’t already dead.” “Of course, and then Hell’s hierarchy would diminish and all would be chaos once again.” “A little chaos now and then is always fun. You of all people should know that.” “But of course, your hatred and that of your creator also run through my veins. I just control it better.” “Well, you know the fact that you are conquering land reminds me of the old days when I was invading China back on Earth a few thousand years ago.” “The difference being that I will succeed where you have failed.” “That’s the state of mind that led me to my downfall. And now look at me, sealed within my own created successor. You were supposed to be born when I died. But the delay has certainly affected your power. If you had born when you were meant to you would be one hundred times more powerful than you are now. And your chakra capacity would be so much higher.” “Even so I overcame my weaknesses and flourished into an elite Jonin and unstoppable manslayer.” “If you’re so confident lets make a deal. If you succeed in your invasion, you will release me from this prison. In return for this I will leave this world forever. As long as you stay here you will never see me again.” “Very well it’s a deal. Luckily for you I have been working on a jutsu for just that purpose.” Netami leaps from the mouth of the cave into the deep forest beyond.

Chapter 2; An Old Friend
As Netami leaps from tree to tree in the forest he senses the presence of other people. Suddenly Netami stops dead in his tracks on a particularly strong branch and sinks into the tree itself using earth style ninjutsu. Within the tree Netami closes his eyes and rapidly opens them again. “Ragnarok Byakugan!” Veins begin to bulge next to Netami’s eyes. The eyes themselves dramatically changed in color. Netami’s eyes became completely white except for his pupils, which remained black. Netami then begins to scan through the adjacent areas to find the presences he had sensed. He makes short work of the task and closes in on his targets. They are a group of five sand ninja. However one of the sand ninja stands out from the rest. Netami senses a different sort of chakra within the ninja. “I haven’t seen chakra like that since the chunin exam weeks ago, chakra that blazes within the chakra network like an open flame. It must be him…” As the five ninja began to walk below the tree Netami is in, Netami continues to use earth style to travel down the trunk of the tree and into the ground where he rises up in front of the enemy ninja. Netami addresses the sand ninja, “My friends I am afraid that I cannot allow you passage beyond this point. You are entering Sound Village territory and I must ask you to leave.” “We will not leave our mission unfinished just because an overconfident sound ninja asked us to!” responds the apparent leader of the squad and only female member. All the sand ninja wear the typical garb of a sand shinobi, khaki pants combined with a sandy green padded vest and a headband wrapped around their foreheads, with the exception of the squad leader who is wearing it around her neck. “Well, if you refuse to leave then I will just have to eliminate you.” The sand ninja with the unusual chakra disappears with only Netami noticing. “Good luck trying to beat us all its five against one.” “I’d recount your squad members, you seem to be missing one.” “What?” The squad leader turns around giving Netami an opening. While the squad leader is distracted Netami slashes one of the sand ninja with a ninjato which Netami produces from a small summoning jutsu circle etched onto the back of his vest. “Make that two.” Netami pulls his sword away from the slain sand ninja and examines it. The blade now splattered with blood is crafted of an onyx colored metal. The sword’s sheath, which is, now attached to the back of Netami’s vest, is made of high quality blackened wood. At the top of the sheath a curse mark is chiseled into the wood. The curse mark is very similar to the Curse Mark of Heaven however at the end of each black ‘droplet’ the ‘tail’ splits in two. “You weak sand ninja don’t stand a chance against me, especially when I have my sword Nobunaga. Legends say the material this sword is made of can resist all forces of nature perfectly and when formed into a blade can cut through anything. In other words, fighting me is suicide.” “Even so I cannot abandon my mission, I am no coward.” “In that respect you are right. You are not a coward, you are a fool.” Netami once again attacks with his sword and impales the squad captain through her belly. In her dying breath she calls out to Netami, “You and your second rate village will never defeat the Sand Village. We will avenge our Kazekage.” “It is however unfortunate my dear that this act of vengeance you speak of will never come to pass, and you will not even see your village fail, for you are dead.” The slain squad captain’s corpse fell to the ground as the river of blood streaming from her single wound began to create a lake of crimson.
After making short work of the last sand ninja Netami begins to look through the trees above him. “You can come out now! The fighting is done, or at least the first fight is.” Out of a nearby tree drops a shadowy figure. “It has been a while Netami, how are you?” “Fine, a little tired but otherwise fine. And you Orion?” The figure walks out of the shadows to reveal himself. He is slightly taller than Netami and has skin significantly less pale than Netami’s. Orion’s clothes are fairly typical of a ninja in general, the cliché lightweight black shirt and pants often warn by stagehands at kabuki plays. What sets him apart from such people is the unique headband wrapped around his forehead. It has an engraving of a tremendous flame etched into the metal. “I am also feeling well, except for the fact you just interrupted my mission. I was sent to infiltrate this group of sand ninja in order to learn what their current plan was. Unfortunately you just killed the whole squad. I think there should be a punishment here. So now I’m going to delay your mission. You’re not continuing on until you defeat me or die trying.”

Chapter 3; Grudge Match:
“If that is how it must be…” Netami disappears from sight and leaves Orion alone in the forest area. “So now you’re running away? Typical coward!” “Who’s calling me a coward?” Netami springs his hands out the ground and pulls Orion underground until only his head remains aboveground. Netami comes out of the ground and mocks Orion, “I can’t believe you fell for such a simple trick.” “As usual you still let your talents blind your insight. Fire Style; Great Fire Clone Explosion!” Orion’s buried clone explodes knocking Netami into the air as the real Orion leaps off a nearby tree branch and brings his heel down upon Netami’s face. Netami smashes back into the ground. “Ow, couldn’t you be a bit more gentle.” “Well I am punishing you.” “Too true…” Netami uses his sword to cut through several tree trunks at a blinding speed. Netami kicks one of the trees over the area of his incision. The tree comes falling down upon Orion, who evaporates upon getting hit. “Damn, a shadow clone.” “Looking for me?” Orion appears from under Netami and uppercuts his jaw. Netami is launched into the air and Orion follows him up. Suddenly Netami contorts his face into a twisted smile and opens up his vest revealing a considerable amount of paper bombs. The opening of the vest triggers the bombs which blast Orion into one of the cut trees, which comes down and knocks down several other smaller trees.
The smoke produced by the bombs clears away and an almost skeletal figure walks out of it. The bombs destroyed much of Netami’s torso so that even his rib cage and spine are visible. “Oh stop showing off your homunculus abilities!” (Quick Note: Yes I am a Fullmetal Alchemist fan, and don’t worry this homunculus is a bit different compared to those.) “Heh, fine have it your way.” The missing flesh from Netami’s body rapidly regenerates itself and even his clothes return to their original state through use of a summoning tattoo on his side. “There that’s better and far more comfortable.” “You disgust me.” “Yeah I have that effect on people.” “All the people you’ve killed and you can’t even die.” “Yes well life is wasted on the living.” “Since victory seems so far away I think I can let you continue on your mission. Send my regards to Amachi will you.” “Of course good bye and good luck old ‘friend’”

Chapter 4; Journey to the Waterfall Village:
After his battle with Orion, Netami continues forth for another mile until he reaches a tree stump with a sealing tag on it. Netami lifts the tag off of the stump, ignoring the electric shock that surges through his body. Netami opens up the stump revealing that it is hollow. From within the stump Netami pulls out a scroll. “Good, it’s still here.” Netami opens the scroll and makes a hand sign. An explosion of smoke erupts from the scroll. After the smoke clears several objects are made visible. The first of the objects is a long black cloak with a hood. The second is a large collection of kunai and shuriken. And the third is a large metal gauntlet. The gauntlet has multiple holes on the top of it. Each finger of the gauntlet is slightly covered by the top of the gauntlet and ends in a sharp claw. Out of elbow of the large gauntlet there is a small metal plated wire ending in a long thin needle.
Netami is currently traveling in the countryside. There are farms and extensive rice fields all around him. The air is rich and pleasant smelling. The sun is shining so bright that Netami pulls the hood of his black cloak just over his eyes with his left hand. Strangely Netami’s right sleeve is empty; instead there is a bulge where his arm would be. Netami comes across a farmer working in a rice field. “Farmer!” The farmer puts down his hoe. “How can I help you?” “I need information.” “Information?” “Yes, information on the Waterfall Village.” “I am afraid that I do not know anything about the Waterfall Village.” “By the tone of your voice I can tell that you are lying. Do you know what I do to liars?” Netami grips the handle of his sword with his left hand. “Alright, I’ll tell you what you want to know.” “Good, all I need to know is where the entrance is.” “It is a mile east from here behind a giant waterfall.” “Thank you…” Suddenly a senbon needle shoots out from under Netami’s cloak and pierces the farmer’s throat. “Unfortunately I can’t let you live. You might have told the villagers I was coming. Of course I would kill you without a reason anyway. Hope you enjoy the afterlife, if there is one anyway…”
After half a day of walking Netami finally arrives at a great waterfall. To Netami’s surprise no one is there to stop him. But then out of the corner of his eye, Netami notices movement. Three waterfall ninja leap out from the branches of the trees behind Netami. Netami swiftly turns around and makes several handsigns. “Fire Style; Phoenix Flower Jutsu!” Netami fires three fireballs from his mouth, each of which hit a waterfall ninja square in the face. “Well if this is all the waterfall village can throw at me, this mission will be even easier than I thought.”

Chapter 5; The Hero’s Water:

Netami sets several barrels of highly explosive oil around the waterfall leading into the Waterfall Village. “Let’s see how you like fire…” Netami flicks a lit match into one of the open barrels. The barrel explodes creating a series of massive explosions which makes the rocks around the village crumble. Netami calmly walks through the massive hole in what was a great waterfall while large rocks strike the ground around him. “Hello? Anybody home?” jeers Netami into the exposed entranceway of the village. In response four ninja leap into the area and surround him. “Just four?” asks Netami not amused. The first ninja charges at him with a drawn katana. As the ninja slashes the sword down Netami catches it between his two fingers and snaps it in half. Netami then strikes the Waterfall ninja in the chest with his open palm. The ninja collapses from internal injury. The other three all charge Netami at once, but he is ready for them. Netami removes his cloak to reveal his Banshee Gauntlet. He then positions it towards the three ninja and a wave of supersonic sound is emitted from five small holes in the palm of the gauntlet. “Pathetic! I should burn this place down.”

After proceeding into the Waterfall Village itself, Netami is confronted by a young man, “I am Shibuki, leader and protector of this village…” Netami cuts Shibuki off, “Ah! Well, I have a proposition for you then. You give me the Hero’s Water and I leave this village intact.” “I will never give you the water! We need it to protect this village from people like you.” “You’re wrong there friend. You’ve never met someone like me.” Netami vanishes and reappears behind Shibuki, “Now where is the water?” “Right here,” says Shibuki as he takes a swig from a clear jug of sparkling blue water. Shibuki then forms a water sword around a kunai knife. “And you won’t get it!” Shibuki slashes his water sword at Netami. Netami blocks the attack with gauntlet, then responds by punching Shibuki in the face. Shibuki catches himself before hitting the ground and throws his water sword at Netami. Netami ducks under the attack but is instead hit by Shibuki’s water dragon jutsu. Netami hits the ground and a puddle forms in the indent formed by his impact. Shibuki then forms a water sword in each hand and charges at the grounded Netami. As Shibuki draws close Netami does a spinning kick to push him away. Netami rises from the hard earth and prepares his Banshee Gauntlet for a powerful attack. But instead of aiming at Shibuki he directs a huge blast of sound waves at a small shack, blowing it away. The corpses of a woman and two children are just visible under the rubble. “Well aren’t I a bad wolf?” Netami points his gauntlet at another shack. “So, what will it be Shibuki?”

Shibuki shows true distress as a result of Netami’s unspoken threat, “Alright, take it! Just don’t hurt the villagers…” Shibuki holds out the Hero’s Water. Netami approaches Shibuki with his hand outstretched to take the precious jug, however a male resident of the village attacks Netami with an old rusty katana. Before the man can execute his attack however Netami clamps his Banshee Gauntlet around the man’s head and implodes it with a wave of sound. Shibuki is horrified by what he has seen and has a sudden change of heart. Shibuki shouts, “This is exactly why I can’t let you have the water. You will use it for death and destruction. And I can’t let that happen!” Shibuki resumes his assault upon Netami with new determination shining in his eyes. Netami rolls his eyes and braces himself. Shibuki attempts ram his fist into Netami’s skull. Netami takes the blow and grabs Shibuki by his throat. As Shibuki struggles for air Netami lifts him into the air further increasing the pressure upon his throat. Shibuki lets out a yelp of pain. Netami drops him onto the ground in front of him revealing a special kunai knife in his back. The knife appears to be absorbing Shibuki’s chakra. “I think I’ll take that now,” says Netami as he snatches away the Hero’s Water. Netami pours a small amount of the water into a flask then places the rest of the water down next to the currently collapsed Shibuki, “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
