" Arracant: 3rd class, section five. Samael Aegis. Field name, Cobalt Sidus."

Councillor Jowan stated as he glanced over the profile.
" Impressive preformance, spotless record, but I don't need to tell you that, Samael. You know this after we let you review your profile after your...... um, unfortunate accident. Well, you can only imagine why we summoned you here."

He continued. The five councillors and the arracant were in a large circular room. It was lit by a single light that shone from the roof in the very center. The councillors each sat at their own personal desk around the room, perched high above the ground, each requiring a set of steps to climb. In the center, stood Samael, along with stream of light.
" I had a few guesses."

He responded lightly. Jowan chuckled slightly.
" Well yes, we are sending you on another mission. You'll be travelling to the Veldekians capital, Urodamno, to pick up a package."
" No offense sir, but we have couriers for that."

Sam snapped back. A grim frown washed over Jowan's face.
" I don't think you understand the importance of this package, Mr. Aegis. Now go get some rest, you'll be heading out tomorrow night."

He said. Samael saluted and turned to leave.
" Also, you'll have a partner accompanying you."

Jowan stated suddenly. Sam turned to him with a puzzled look. Arracant's were trained to handle themselves. Very rarely were they sent in pair, especially to pick up a simple package.
" May I ask who it is?"
" You know we can't disclose the names of other arracant's. But you'll be meeting them at Garn Park."

Sam nodded and exited the room.
" Well, that's helpful."

He sighed before exiting the parliament.
" I might as well do a circle of the city before heading home. Something tells me this is going to be a long trip."

Sam told himself as he ran towards the cities main bridge. Instead of taking the path created for bystanders he leaped upon the main support cable, half crawling/running tell he reached the top. He vaulted over the tower and skillfully made his way across the wire that attached the two towers. He easily slid across the mirroring tower and glided down the other cable. Sam casually jumped off the pole that the cable attached to on the ground and onto a roof. In the distance he saw a disturbance.
" ......And a long night it seems."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was about two in the morning before he had a chance to return to his house. Not quite feeling easy yet he lid down on his roof. Four attempted break and entries, five public intoxication's and disturbances, three fights, and sadly a bad case of public nudity. Most all pursuits, especially the last one. -_-
" Fucking Fridays."
Sam sighed.
" Rough night?"
A voice asked from above him. It was his captain sitting on the fold of his roof while Eva stood next to him. Adam took a long draw from his pipe.
" You could say that, captain."
Sam responded. Adam produced a bottle of wine from his sleeve.
" Heard from that Micheal fellow you're heading out again tomorrow and might be gone a while. I thought me and Eva would drop by to have a little farewell party for you."
He grinned.
" Sorry captain, guards can't drink on duty."
Sam said sitting up. His captain chuckled as he ushered Eva to sit down with him.
" Your dedication is impressive, but you know as soon as you get the call you're off duty."
He replied gingerly. Sam's face was grim.
" I heard a rumor today."
He said bluntly. The captain's brow lifted slightly, he could tell it was no average rumor before he could ask what it was, his top city guard continued.
" I heard a few years back you were a arracant, your last assignment was on the night of six demons..... apparantly you were at one of those outposts. What happened there, captain?"
Sam asked, obviously bothered about this possible truth. He was interupted by Adam's laughter.
" Now where did you hear something wild like that?"
He answered as if the question was as a far fetched as mutant Miku living in the sewers of the city and came out at night to snatch children. He admitted it must have been a convincing tale to tell children at bed time, but he had ventured into the dark under belly of the city enough times to prove this myth false.
" But why? The identities are privileged to a select few. Heck, I barely know any arracants, it would make sen--"
" Samael Rengialis Aegis!"
Eva erupted suddenly.
" Do not believe you are the only arracant on the entired force. The cities population demands at least twenty five thousand, three hundred, and seventy-nine guards be employed to keep the city safe. The guards are the largest force nexted to the army that operates close to the council. Many arracant's are moved from their original jobs to places that are close to the government to keep this system as closed as possible. Captain Adam places much trust in you Samael, so I fallow his lead. Do not betray our faith with foolish ideas and silly rumors."
The arracant stayed silent throughout the whole lecture. Eva had answered all his questions he wanted to ask.
" I apologize."
He said heartfully, waiting for a punishing reposte. Instead Adam stood up and brushed himself off.
" I suppose it is alittle late for drinking. Get some sleep Samael, you'll have an earlier rise tomorrow."
and with that, both captain and leiutenant were gone. The arracant sighed and slipped down off the roof and into bed where his sleep was racked with augars that told of horrible events and adventures that not only awaited him, but of strangers he never met....... yet. Untold dangers gorged their paths, a fogginess that over took them and cloud what awaited them in uncertainty. He dreamed of a evil that threatened to devour all of Liantrus. He dreamed of creatures that feed off of not only mana, but the very essence of life itself. He dreamed of a far off island where flames bore breath and elves still lived.
" By Elmia."
He cursed as he has awakened suddenly. Normally he would have mediatated on what he saw, but with a glance at the clock he had not the pleasantry. With a quick shower, throwing on a pair of clothes, a small lunch, Sam grabbed his travel pack and rushed out the door to Garn park. After jumping onto the roof tops he easily cleared a path to his destination. Samael landed near the park's main road and walked towards it's center.
" Now where the hell could my partner be?"
He asked himself, wondering where is fellow Arracant could be.
"Rrragh!" Neliar slammed the point of his massive sword through the Vedelkian trader's metallic torso, nearly splitting him in two. "Hmph. Damn Vedelkian can't fight without their Legion slaves around." The fearsome warrior grabbed the cart full of metal goods and began dragging it back to Klaue, intending to use the profits to help those affected by the war in the south. It's about time... He thought. I've waited far too long to avenge them. Once I drop this junk off, I'm heading south. The rebels will die for the pain they have inflicted upon my family.
Some hours later, the Hontil bandit was on the path down toward Infinitus with his blade on his back. He had said his goodbyes back in Klaue; of course, no one would miss him there anyway. He had no family left and had pushed away all others for fear of them getting hurt. Neliar forged his own path, and that path would lead him straight into battle. He would destroy his enemies, just like his father before him - the famous Hontil general, Almaz the Inferno.
The soiled water splashed against the heels of his boots as he dashed through the dark abyss. In front of him is a man running for his life, tripping over the fallen trees. The mud stuck like glue to the bottom of the man’s foot, slowing him. The hunt was beginning to bore Frost. His impatient client was done waiting. Frost changed pace to an all-out sprint, hurdling over trees, leaving a trail of ice in his wake. He pulled his gold plated gun from his left holster and searched his chest pocket for something.
His earpiece dripped a cold metallic voice, “The client wants this man brought to him alive. You understand, Number Thirteen?”
“Yes, Number Four.” He responded, matching Four’s tone.
He felt the little metallic cylinder in his chest pocket. He tossed it carelessly in to the air and caught it with his gun. “Follow”, he commanded.
The gun spat out the bullet and recoiled as if trying to get away from the horrid thing. The man looked back at the bullet as if he were wishing it away. The bullet was losing momentum and was soon inches from the ground. The man’s face began to regain its color as the bullet fell slid in to the muddy grass. Finding no sign that Frost was still chasing him, he made his way back to where the bullet that almost took his life had fallen.
“What?” he exhaled as he stuck his finger in hole created by the bullet. There was no sign of a shell.
A numb feeling spread from his back, encompassing his whole body, the man collapsed face down into the mud. Using all his remaining stamina he turned and saw the bullet, covered in mud. A dark figure began to move closer to the man, “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. I can’t speak for my client though.” Frost smiled at the man who now began to whimper as he picked him up and nonchalantly threw him over his shoulder.
He reached the end of the swamps and the warm sun beat on his face. The plains looked so elegant, so clean. Now without much cover, he felt the cool breeze on his face. He was startled out of his calm state when his ear buzzed.
“Number 13, head back.”
Frost gazed at the plains again as he wiped his dirty boots on the grass, soiling it. He turned and walked in to the forest, melting in to the night.
Tap tap. Tap. Clicking of the boots were heard on the surface as a fairly young woman stepped out onto the streets near the circle. She knew the time. Sunrise. Just before the busiest time of day began. Well, one of them. A simple package... with a simple subordinate. How low could she go?
Just a little lower.
She was simple. Her features were what someone would perceive as cute. Not hot, but cute in a stern way. They represented all of the missions she dealt with...
and more.
Behind Sam was the woman. "Sam. 3rd Class." Esazrael saluted with a warm welcoming smile.
"Rrgh..." Neliar growled low in his throat as he walked. "How damn far is this place?" He asked himself, cursing quietly. He had been walking for quite some time and still no sight of Infinitus. "Hmph, wish there was a Vedelkian around to entertain me."
" 3......... class?"
Sam mumbled as he turned around to greet his partner. The arracant blinked and tilted his head at his superior. He quickly shook off his shock andreturned the salute.
" You're.......... um....."
He began.
Heading into the guild chambers, He walked straight to the request board ignoring the
happily cries of his guild mates. Frost began to scan the board looking for any worthwhile
prospects.
“Ah.” He whispered quietly to himself.
He tore of a sheet of paper with a picture of a man, eyes as hot as crimson blood. Frost
looked closely at the man, Hontil is it? He thought to himself still staring at the sheet of
paper.Current Location: Klaue. He threw the request into the withering flame causing
the fire to rile up once more.
Frost pulled the door open slamming as he left. Frost tore through the forest swamp
leaving his natural habitat; it wasn’t unusual to get a request from the outside but it was
nefarious. Something bothered him about this request, but it didn’t matter. A hunt was a
hunt and it had just begun.
“Neliar Efsch Tharion, I’m coming for you.”
3/8/11--One Year of Dragon Age II
Nil hummed to himself as he walked through the streets of Infinatus, his hands behind his head. He had just gotten back from visiting his friend Wehnburg, the Veldekian representative on the council. "Ahh... what a beautiful day!" He said to himself, letting his arms drop, his left hand clicking a button on his scanner eye, hidden under his bangs. "Hmm..." Nil scanned the silhouettes of the people passing by. "Where's a good looking woman when you need--" Something then bumped into his leg.
Clicking the scanner off, he looked down at the small girl he had run into. "Oh, sorry there short fry." Nil apologized to the white haired girl, crouching down to her height and noticing ears hidden in her hair. A Lycan... He thought. "I have a feeling you get asked this alot but are you lost?"
I'm a huge faggot, please rape my face.
~Aulix~
The sun was slowly rising into the sky, causing the darkness to flee in terror, but not all at once. All the inhabitants of Toten were fast asleep, and Aulix was determined to keep it that way; the young Lycan gently crept out of her house, paintbrush and sketchbook in hand.
She scanned the village, then cautiously started on her way. She walked at a brisk pace, glancing up to the sky every now and then. 'At this rate, I'll never make it before people start crowding the streets!' Aulix thought, her brisk walk now becoming a jog.
Aulix slowed as she reached the outskirts of Toten and glanced longingly at the sky. Then sun had rose just slightly since she had last checked. "I should have woken up earlier...I need to get to Infinatus." She breathed, turning northward. The Lycan took a deep breath before starting her jog up towards Infinatus.
"Dammit!" Aulix cursed as she reached the entrance to the city. Her tail twitched in annoyance as she stared at the one or two people strolling down the streets. She let out a sigh as she sulked into the city; putting the paintbrush into her mouth, allowing her to have a free hand.
The sun rose higher as the young adult strolled through the city. Finally, Aulix paused, placing her free hand onto her hip and gazing up at the sky in front of a large building. "Perfect!" She breathed, slowly backing away from the building and stopping once she had backed into the circular, grassy area in the center of Infinatus.
She sat down in the grass, her legs crossed. With a soft breath, the Lycan removed the paintbrush from her mouth and began to paint, with no evident paint supply with her... yet, paint was appearing on the canvas with each elegant stroke of her brush...
"Esazrael Dietrich." She merely pointed out, with no other details about herself. She wondered of this man. Wondered with his tendencies she just gathered within five seconds of confronting him if he will even make it farther than he had already achieved. "That is all you need to know of me."
Click. Click. Click. She proudly took three steps ahead of him, her eyes scanning the horizon chock full of everyday bustle. "So, we are to deliver a package... We should probably leave now." Ignoring whatever comment he could have made after, she began to widen the gap between Sam and herself.
Name: Laeia Strife
Age: 16
Race: Namuh with elven blood
Occupation: Hunter
Appearance: She has corn silk hair and stands at 5’8”. Her body is lithe and taut with the stance of one who is prepared to kill at all times. Her most dominant feature is her eyes which are a blazing sapphire blue. She ties her hair back in order to survey her surroundings. Her ears are pointed but they are not prominent enough to show unless you scrutinize them. The tone of her skin is pale and her expression is one of haughtiness. She wears a pair of brown gladiators for the ease of travel. She has a black cape and a white short sleeved tunic that extends to the middle of her thighs. It is cinched with a leather belt.
Weapon:( If they have one): A willow bow.
Location: ???
Personality: Laeia is a strong individual who always suspects others of wrongdoings. She likes to deal with things in a rational manner and prefers logic over strength which is why her preferred weapon is a bow. When she is forced to interact with others, she will do it grudgingly and will become irritated if you are not straight to the point. She secludes herself from others and prefers to listen to the silence of the forest. Although her behaviour seems bizarre and unapproachable, it is merely a guise – if you truly get to know her she will become a loyal companion. She enjoys singing with mocking jays.
Backstory: “Don’t go!” she cried, “I don’t want to be alone…” Those were the last words she screamed with tears in her eyes. At the tender age of 12, she had lost everything. She swore never to trust anyone again. Those Lycans had deceived her family. Now, she had nothing. She wiped furiously at the overflowing tears in her eyes. The image of her parents, lying dead and broken, made her nauseous. The smell of blood filled her nose and caused her to wretch. Her parents had been the most loving; the perfect couple. They had taught her how to control her magic and blend in with the rest of the population rather than drawing attention to herself. It had all been taken away by a mere lie. Laeia knew there was no turning back. The memories of her childhood lay among the ashes of her mountainside home. She grabbed her father’s bow and stalked away from the site with a glint of betrayal reflected in her eyes. For now, she had decided to be the deceiver rather than the deceived.
The arrow whistled with such accuracy as it struck its mark. She moved without a sound towards her prey.
Laeia looked down at her most recent kill as she gently lifted it up. Her hands were stained with the blood of the brown hare. Its coat was dyed a scarlet red. She pondered upon the loss of a life – such innocence could be taken away with a mere arrow. Laeia swiftly pulled out the arrow. Quietly, she left her prayers. She wiped the sweat from her brow and walked over to the river. The wind rustled through her hair and swept up her tunic. Her hair brushed against her back. Taking a cool sip of water, she lay back on the parched ground, content with her work. She was on the outskirts of Infinatus. There were a couple of butchers as well as merchants who would be interested in what she had to offer in the city. A twig snapped. Laeia whipped her head toward the direction of the noise and prepared her bow to shoot.
It was a deer.
What a beautiful pelt…The color of falling snow. My parents told me stories of encounters with the Snow White deer when I was young. Never have I dreamed of seeing one.
The deer looked at her curiously with its big, glassy eyes. It timidly approached her. Laeia pulled back on her bow and was ready to release. She was in desperate need of money. Unexpectedly, she was hit with an epiphany so strong that she lowered her bow.
…Little one, when you meet a Snow White deer…it speaks of fortune.
Laeia cocked her head to the side, startled. Was her mother was talking to her? She must be hallucinating. Nevertheless, she put away her weapon and crept up towards the deer. Its eyes spoke of no fear. Without any words, the deer nuzzled her. Laeia felt a chill run up her spine.
Never get close to anyone, Laeia. They can be taken away. You will be weak…weak.
Suddenly filled with fear, she fled. The deer gazed at her retreating back with such wisdom.
----------
Faint from short of breath, Laeia took a moment to recoup. Her hair was a mess right now. She adjusted it with brisk movements. Laeia took a moment to survey her surroundings.
“Dearie, how are you today?”
Laeia looked up with a glare. A Ritan was looking down at her with a smile so wide, she could see its vile teeth and the stench of its breath. Impertinence – it pissed her off. What business did this lady have to speak to her? Without a word of recognition, she hurriedly left in search for a nearby merchant - not looking back at the confounded Ritan…
" .....Short."
He mumbled after she finished talking.
" Well, I think it's pick up and delivery."
Sam said jogging to catch up with her.
" So fair lady, would it be presumptuous to say this is what the rest off our trip will be like? Or once we clear the city gates you'll reveal yourself to be just wearing a mask of a frozen queen?"
Neliar stopped for a moment, leaning against a large rock as he calmed himself. Haste will only bring disaster. I have to be calm, or I'll never survive to avenge them. Exhaling a small burst of flame, the Hontil watched it burn out in seconds. "If only things hadn't turned out this way..." He muttered as he recalled his lost family.
The trip had been tenaciously long, He had passed Sprun hearing the rambunctious Lycan’s wasting away the day. His throat dry as a desert, Frost looked around searching for any sort of water hole. Treading along the fresh fragrant grass he looked down into his own reflection. He kneeled down staring closer into his own reflection as if something bothered him about it.
A ray of gold light flashed into his light, Heaven the gun left behind from his master. A thickening pain struck his brain as if impaled by some sort of arrow.
“Argh!” yelled Frost as he held on to his head for his dear life, Flashing images came and left his mind as if fragment of his memory was coming back to him.
"Now is not the time, Snap out of it!" ordering his body into a complete halt
The pain subsided leaving Frost on his knees staring once again at his own reflection, a rustling sound echoed, He checked around seeing if anyone was around.
A few yards away stood a man leaning on a boulder, he seemed to be in pain. His black wings stood perched out from the rock, the restless man looked up.
Red eyes. Blood Crimson… It’s him.
Frost immediately retreated from the open space. He lay down smothered by the tall grass as if it protected him. Gazing at Neliar he laid beneath the grass, hidden from sight.
Frost reached into his holsters pulling out his renowned pistols, Heaven & Hell. Loading the bullets in to the revolvers he laid perfectly still as he melted away into the crowd of grass.
And so it begins
Esa, in response to Sam's comment, forced her eyebrows about an inch higher than where they normally lied, and shook her head. "I just like getting things done. Why does a mask need to exist when the honest truth prevails?" She shrugged, her boots continuously clicking along with the firm ground. "Is it that you do not enjoy the presence of a blizzard? Or must I tell you everything about my life?" The sentence was only augmented by her scoffed tone as she edged toward the city gates. What could have held her panties in a bunch was anyone's guess.
