Time passed as normal until Izak entered the library. "Wow, I don't think I've seen you two actually reading for a long time. What's up?"

"Did I startle you?" Izak asked, walking over to them. "You seemed kind of scared." Picking up one of the books, he examined it and asked, "Why are you reading your mother's herbalism books?"

"Beacause we want to." Ashelia said. Trying to think of a way to change the subject.

"This is all about medicinal herbs. Are you trying to learn how to make medicine or something?" Izak looked from the book to the girls and back, a curious look in his eyes.

"Y-Yeah. We Wanted to learn how to make some basic medicine for when we finally go on our journey." Ashelia said.

Flipping through a couple pages of the book, Izak nodded suspiciously. "So why are you researching medicine that extends life? Aren't you a little young to be worrying about that?"

Izak sighed. "You've never been a good liar, Ashy. Why are you reading up on this?"

Turning to face Eirika, Izak didn't even have to say anything before the girl broke down. "While we were in my room, we heard you talking about dying. We don't want that to happen, so we were looking up a way to save you." A fresh wave of tears came to her eyes as she set her book on the table.

As Eirika joined in the hug, Izak folded his arms around both girls. "I didn't wish for you to hear that. But I can't lie to you either; my time on this world is short. Go on and live your lives, my girls, and make the best of them."

"Please, don't worry." The old man held both his daughters tight in his embrace. "I'll spend the rest of my days with you, but every man dies one day." Eirika sniffled, "But you're supposed to be immortal! Isn't that what happened when you and Mom first met?!" Izak shook his head. "The spell was weakened; we will die one day. But my time is simply coming sooner."

"That's better." Izak released his grip on the girls as he straightened. "Now go on, live and be happy. There's much more for you both to do."

"I'll leave you to your reading. Take care." He said with a smile before leaving the library. Once he had left, Eirika asked tearfully, "Why did you just go along with him?! He'll die if we don't do something!"
