"Yes... all of us?" Julia asked, wondering if he meant her father.

"Just you and me and my brother and sisters and Grandma. All of us can go get ice cream, right?"

Julia sighed with relief. "Of course." It then snapped to her. "You have seen Izlude, haven't you Sergei? He went to bed, right?"

"Yeah, he did. I tried, but I kept hearing you and Grandma talk so I couldn't fall asleep." Sergei still looked up at his mother with childish innocence. "Everyone's asleep but us."

"Good... Shall we sleep? I'll let you sleep with us for tonight, if you'd like." Julia smiled softly, her motherly aura glowing.

"Thanks Mom." Sergei said softly as footsteps sounded from the upper floor. Cecil arrived downstairs to see his wife, son and mother-in-law gathered there and allowed himself a smile. "You okay, son? Did you have a bad dream?" "Nuh uh. Mom said I could sleep with you guys tonight, Dad." Sergei's eyes were now turned toward his father, the very picture of a son who thought his father was a hero.

Julia could not help but think between that moment... how could her father even kill her family. They seemed so perfect to her...

"Sergei... Cecil? Would you allow this for the night?" The woman gently asked for the boy.

"Of course. Sergei's been good; he deserves a little reward." Cecil picked the boy up and set him on his shoulders. "Let's go. It's late."

"It is." Julia followed after she covered her mother with a nice blanket. Soon they reached their room...

Cecil gently set Sergei down on the bed, where he burrowed into the blankets. The man then turned to his wife and said softly, "I know this must be hard on you, losing your father like that."

"It's... it's alright. I know... he was there for me before... but if he wants to kill you and my family, I will not allow it especially when the reason is because of power."

"We're going to need to bring him to his senses. Our children shouldn't have to grow up without a grandfather." Cecil took Julia's hands in his, looking into her eyes. "All we do, we do for them. Isn't that what we swore?"

Julia's hands gripped into his own. "Yes... that is true. But I don't want you dying for them, my love. There are other ways..."

"I have no intention of dying unless it's my only course of action. I want to grow old with you and see our children become the wonderful people that society will recognize them for. That is my life's wish, my beloved." Cecil raised Julia's right hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. "We will be together until the end."

"Let us pray that will be so." Julia smiled as she released her hand, settling into the sheets and falling asleep.

The family slept peacefully for the remainder of the night, waiting until the sun was high in the sky.

Nocturne stared out the window, remembering the times he had sat on the roof with Lenneth and watched the sun rise. A pang of guilt struck him as he turned to look at Lolita, a flicker of doubt flying through his his at the sight of the girl.

Lolita was barely awake, curled up in a ball as she saw her lover glancing out the window. "Nocturne... is something wrong?"

The morning rose... And Julia was the first up. She watched her son and husband sleep, relishing the feeling of being a mother and wife, then stood up, eventually reaching the roof after several minutes of pondering. She sat there and gazed out at the sun. "Heh... Lelora... remember when we were watching these together? I wish... I was able to revoke my immortality. What is the point of living forever when you are only happy now?"

"Nothing at all." Nocturne murmured, more to himself than Lolita. He sat on the bed beside her and began caressing her as he spoke. "Lolita... if you lost everything dear to you, what would you do?"

There was no response to Julia's words, only a small white feather drifting on the morning breeze. The feather landed upon Julia's shoulder as an ethereal voice touched her ears. "Julia, I have heard your words. Why do you wish to become mortal?"

"Are you saying that woman is dear to you?" Lolita asked. "You have me... that's more precious than what you could ask, am I not?"

"The state that I am in now..." Julia whispered. "I am very happy with my family. I'd rather die with my blood, than move on eternally. Wouldn't that make sense?"

Hearing Lenneth spoken of in that manner almost broke Nocturne's heart all over again. "Forgive me, my dear. Just the sentimental ramblings of an old man."

"You would give up your status as an angel for your family? Are you truly your father's daughter?"
