"Don't listen to him... Cecil... how can my mother marry such a tormenting man?" Julia asked. "I couldn't put up with him for eight years... and this... this..."

Cecil kenlt beside his wife and son and took them both in his arms. "It'll be alright. Nothing's going to happen to anyone. I promise."

"You promise... I promise as well. We will talk to my mother of this... and Lelora... We should tell the other kids. Where are they?"

"Asleep. They know to be back before dark unless one of the family offers to take them somewhere." Cecil held both his family members close, trying to comfort them.

"I trust your words. Sergei, do not worry, alright?" She noticed the boy's shivering and kissed his forehead tenderly.

"Thanks Mom." Sergei hugged his parents, the tears beginning to clear from his eyes. Cecil only said in a voice only Julia could hear, "There will be a reckoning for this..."

"I'm hoping we don't have to fight him again, but I will if that's what's neccessary. The most important thing is to make sure the children are safe."

"We'll try to reason with him. I have no idea to spark a civil war among our family." Cecil reassured Julia as he said in a louder voice, "Time for bed, son." Sergei nodded from his place in Julia's arms and hugged his mother thankfully.

Nocturne returned to the pond where he and Lenneth had been relaxing. "Damned boy..." He growled.

"Sergei. He nearly burned down the manor today while we were gone. I swear to the goddesses above, I'm going to put an end to that boy..." Nocturne sat beside his wife and gazed into the pond in a black mood.

"Stop. It was an accident, wasn't it?" Lenneth asked quietly.

"What does it matter? We could've been out of a home if Lelora hadn't put out the fire. And he's covered the living room with crusted-on ash in a miserable attempt to clean it up. I knew anything that was descended from Cecil would have a bad streak."

"That doesn't mean you kill the poor guy!!! And what do you mean about that?" Lenneth raised a brow.

"I should've stepped in again... Should've made sure Julia never married that man..." Nocturne shook his head and stared into the depths of the pond. "Now their children are going to wreak havoc upon us. Makes me wonder if we should keep the little demons around."

"They are not demons. They were only trying to help, Nocturne. Try walking in their shoes." Lenneth sighed as she tipped her feet into the pond.

"They won't do us any good, that's for certain. They'll only cause trouble." Nocturne's aura grew darker along with his mood, the energy surrounding him writhing like serpents.
