Fenn looked around upon entry to the Tavern. "Erm... Alicia, pardon me for saying this, but I don't see any Royal Knights here... Or Women... All I see is a bunch of sailors..." He sighed. He walked up to the barkeeper. "Hey, keep... Is this the Lion's Springs Tavern?"

He was met with a laugh. "Ye' lost, boy?" The man responded with a loud guffaw.

Well you didn't have to be so brash... Fenn thought.

"Whoops... it's in South San D'oria." Alicia sweatdropped. "Guess I made you look more the fool."

"Gee, thanks... Remind me to shove you off the docks when we get outside, Captain." Fenn replied.

"Shut up with the Captain statement!" Alicia fumed, pressing her hands to the sides of her head in a sort of, angry gesture. "Dammit Fenn, stop being an ass!"

"You know, you're cute when you get frustrated." Fenn said as he stepped out of the Tavern.

"Ugh. Just... follow me you lummox."

"I'm following, but you only seem to know your way around just a little better than I do." Fenn said. "The lummox comment was hardly neccesary. I'm just not familiar with the place..." He was hit in the face with a breeze. "Oh man, that never gets old... I suppose that's why I love ports though..."

"I never drank. And ports have always been boring to me," she said, walking now out of the port and into northern San D'oria. "Will you hurry?"

"Yeah, yeah..." Fenn said. "So long sea breeze..." He sighed, jogging to catch up. "I've never been drinking myself. In fact, the ports are a bit too crowded... It's just the sea breeze. Reminds me of home."

"Interesting." Responded Alicia, albeit a tad bitterly. "Really, we must not keep her waiting." She entered Southern San D'Oria.

"... Right... Well, at least you can still go home..." Fenn said. He stretched his arms. "Hm? Hey... Look at this." He said, walking to the center of the square.

"Yeah, right, like I really have anyone to come home to," was what Alicia wanted to say, but instead she followed up the statement with, "Huh?"

"Something odd at the fountain." Fenn said.

"What's that?" Alicia turned to the fountain...

"I dunno... We should take a closer look though." Fenn leaned in close to it.

"Okay..." Alicia crept over, remaining however a fairly good distance in fear of something leaping out at her.

...

...

Fenn stepped back and smirked.

SPLASH!

The sound was heard as Fenn pushed Alicia over the rail and into the fountain.

Alicia quickly kicked the water before she hit, causing a small wave to splash over Fenn.

"AIYEE!!!" She screeched as she heard snickers from passerby. She reddened, leaping out of the fountain.

"If you don't want to take this AND me seriously, then why are you even here!?" She shouted angrily before storming off.

"I only horse around with people I care about." Fenn said with a shrug. "Besides, it's better than the ocean, is it not? Now come here and we can dry off." Fenn said, a fire appearing in his palm.

"Leave me alone." Alicia murmured as she entered the outskirts, on her way to the tavern.

"You're going to catch a cold that way..." Fenn sighed as he followed, holding the flame aloft, and feeling its warmth helping to dry his clothes.

Of course the girl couldn't hear that as she opened the tavern doors, seeking the woman she was to graciously meet.

Fenn followed in and shook out his chetnut hair as he entered as well. "People are looking at you funny..." He said.

"They looked at me funny to beg-..." She only rolled her eyes, finding it pointless to continue on the conversation.

The barkeep looked at the two and asked, "What are you doing here? This isn't a place for children, you know."

"I'm twenty." Alicia rolled her eyes. "I'm searching for someone... some woman..."

"You must be the aspiring Royal Knights. Over here." An Elvaan woman waved at them from a corner table. She was dressed in the uniform of a Troupe Brilioth dancer, not something one would expect from a Reserve Knight.

"... Twenty-two." Fenn said with a sigh. "By Altana... We're here to meet with a Reserve Knight. We're new recruits for the Royal Knights." He said with a sigh. He then turned to Alicia. "Now will you please dry yourself off?" He asked her.

"Huh? I don't need to." Alicia rolled her eyes before sitting down.

Once they had sat down, the woman spoke again. "Most of the new recruits for the Royal Knights come through my linkshell and I. We're Nebula, and I am Tethys Canteroix. What are your names?"

"Alicia. And this is Fenn. Nice to meet you, Tethys." Alicia offered her hand, though she was nervous of the outcome.

Tethys shook the outstretched hand with a warm smile. "I think we'll grow to work well together. You have the rest of today off; tomorrow, meet me at the southern gate to West Ronfaure at dawn."

"Uh... y-yes ma'am!" Alicia nodded rapidly as she removed herself from the seat and took off, still upset with Fenn.

"Eh?" Fenn sighed. "So what the heck do I do till dawn? Umm... I don't suppose it would be possible to take up board at the Chateau for the night, would it?"

"There's a large Mog Apartment in the residential district that is reserved for our trainees. There's currently enough room for both of you." Tethys said matter-of-factly. "It would be good to familiarize yourself with the others there."

"Alrighty then..." Fenn said. Tch... Needed to get into the Chateau. "Oh! Before we forget! Alicia, didn't you need to see someone in the Chateau about the request from Bastok?"

"Request from Bastok? I thought you were Royal Knight trainees." Tethys looked them over scrutinizingly. "It's about that man who was arrested by the Royal Knights, isn't it? Gareth?"

"What request? I'm San D'Orian." Alicia shrugged, still pissed off with Fenn. "Gareth? Who's that?"

"Don't try to hide things from me. You three came into San d'Oria together, and he was arrested for trying to help you... in his own reckless way." A serious expression overcame the elvaan woman's features. "Tell me what you really want from the knights."

"I don't care about saving him anymore. Fenn's an asshole, and I just want to be recognized around here as a great hume." Alicia merely shrugged, leaving the bar with a slam of the door.

Tethys leaned back and sighed. "Gareth, you reckless fool... Why did you leave friends like this?"
