" Where am I?"

The man asked himself drearily, wincing at the pain that throbbed to his head. Above him laid a flat expanse of blue. Around the very ends of the oceanic blue he spotted flecks of white, fluffy things. He was almost sure that he was lying on his back facing upwards, so he assumed the blue was the sky, and white, the clouds. The pain subsided slightly in his head and he stretched his limbs out in recognition of the pain that ravaged the rest of his body. He forced himself to sit up despite the horrible aching in his body, ignoring it all the best he could in hopes of focusing his thoughts. Like walking through a china store recently vandalized and every part of it shattered, he found himself stumbling through the aisles, picking up his shattered memory piece by piece.

First name, Hunter. Age, twenty four. When seven years old, broke arm in three placing. Last name; Alison. Broke arm from climbing. Hunter clenched his fingers so tightly they dug deeply into his scalp as he ran his filth covered finger through his skull. Every piece of his memory returned so slowly, he'd feel that his exhaustion would overtake him before another memory became apparent to him. Adopted as a baby, kept birth name.

He punched the earth before him in frustration. He head sunk deeply into the muck. Finally he took in his surrounding. He found himself enclosed by a circular wall of earth. Water ran down through crevices of the mucky slopes. Through some luck, Hunter found himself lying on a small island in the middle of the water that pooled at the bottom of the crater.

" What happened?"

He pondered out loud to himself. The pain exploded in his head as his eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed once more.

///////////////////////////////

"Do it now!"

Hunter heard shouting in his head. Seeing someone he could only describe as an angel. The feathery white wings stretched across the night sky. At that moment a colorfully dressed man jumped at the second angel, HE was dressed in completely white. The angel blocked the barrage of bullets fired at him. 'A gunslinger'. Hunter thought.

" Iz too late for your nonzense. ACTIVATE!"

Suddenly Hunter realized he was watching the battle through his own eyes.

"A...A memory?"

He felt warm. His body began to glow. And then the pain returned. His body instantly crumpled.

" MIRUNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
/////////////////////////

Hunter's eyes sprang open. He was back lying on his back in the crater.

" An angel, a gunslinger, and a man dressed in white. and...... HOLY CRAP!"

He jumped to his feet and began a mad dash up the crater's walls. He spotted his sword and quickly grabbed it. Hunter didn't stop till he was at the rim and sprawled out on the surrounding grass field. Hunter began laughing mad.

" I can't believe I almost forgot."

He chuckled and flipped open his watch. Inside was a picture of a beautiful woman.

" Miruna. I promise I'll get you back."

Hunter staggered into the nearest down. Tired by the long walk, not to mention the huge sword he dragged around and the constant pulses of pain, he slowly found himself at a inn. Before he even touched the handle to let himself in something hard and cold pressed against his neck.

" Listen, man. I've got nothing against you. I just want your money."
" Sorry, I don't have any money on me."

Hunter didn't lie, but he still felt the butt of the pistol across his head. The blow instantly dropped Hunter to his knees.

" You must have something. You got that sword, right? Give me that."
" I can't. It was a gift from someone."

Hunter turned to face his assailant, only to find a barrel against his head.

" You shouldn't have done that. I can't let you live if you saw me."

The man had his finger an inch from the trigger. He was going to do it! Hunt prepared himself for death. Maybe it was his chance to reunite with his lost love. The thug was just about to fire the gun when Hunter's face was splattered with blood. The assailant jumped back in pain and terror as his arm fell to the ground. A man dressed in a trench coat now stood between Hunter and the other man. Hunt's eye's widened. He wasn't a spiritual man, but he could feel the trench coated man's aura. It felt like the devil himself was inside him.

" What the fuck are you!?"

The assailant screamed. He turned to run, but was met with a blade tearing through his throat. As his body fell, his eyes met Hunter's before the life faded from them.

" Wha.... Why did you do that!? Wasn't cutting off his arm enough!?"
" He deserved it."
" H-how can you say that? No one has the right to die!"

Hunter found a blade at his throat. Mockingly the devil of a man wiped the blood off on Hunt's shoulder.

" It was him, or you. And I value human life more than a piece of shit like that."
" You bastard....."

He turned and begin to walk away.

" Wait!..... I should at least know the name of the one who saved my life."
" You can call me Sinclaire."
....
" I'd be careful around here if I were you. You might not see it but this whole nation is in a state of civil war. Maybe the world. You'd better start getting use to scenes like this."
//////////////////////

"This is just great. GREAT! Another zombified city?"
" Seems like it."

Dominic said to his partner.

" I can't believe we're trying to stop this sicko and we're the outlaws."
" Meh, it could be worse. No one is in our way, the night's young. It'll be fun."
" You may enjoy this. I don't. Blood is hard to wash out."
" Oh, stop your bitching!"

The gunslinger shouted before jumping into the dead city. Anthony wondered how he got such pleasure from mindless Violence.
//////////////////////

" Wow, dis world is moar chaotic den our own!"
" Maybe it's just this city?"

Vincent pondered for a second.
" Just stop. You might hurt you're trying to actually think."

The entity insulted him, but before he could respond someone grabbed him from collar of his blue and red jacket.
" Hey! Give us your money before we toss you over the edge!"

The thug threatened Vincent as the rest begun to encircle him.
" Care for me to take over?"

The spirit asked. His partnered soul nodded in agreement. Gleefully, blood lust filled the kind eyes, and the innocent boy was no longer in control, just the empty murderous creature inside. Soon the roof begun to overflow with blood.

Interesting indeed, but it's pacing seems a little fast for me. The ambiguity of what exactly is going on gave it a nice effect though

Ace quickly wiped the blood from his blade on the corpse nearest him. He smiled sinisterly as he admired his handiwork.
" Aren't ve a busy one?"

A stranger asked from the parallel rooftop. He was dressed head to toe in white and wore a hood that covered his eyes. An aura floated about him, that made Ace feel highly uncomfortable. He was like a vault of secrets that you wished not to open because you knew you'd find something that you wished you hadn't.
" Who the hell are you?"
" Mien name iz of little importance, Herr Ace. But vhat I offer though...... It may interest you greatly."

He smiled wholly, to ace it was almost fox-like in nature. The spirit grunted in his mind, he hated those who twisted words to make them pretty. Words were anything but! Words were weakness. They were meaningless ugly sound. Violence, that was beautiful to Ace, that is where he found beauty. Despite this, still the presence of this man was now unnerving to Ace, he pressed on though.
" What can you offer me? I only want one thing."
" And I have zat. Your past is vhat you want, yes?"

Ace laughed halfheartedly at the strange man's offer. No one had that, and he doubted fully that the ivory clad stranger had it either. If he didn't find it himself, he'd never find it at all.
" You honestly think I can believe you? It wouldn't be the first time we've been cheated."
" Yes, I know all about you and Vincent."

The man replied again. Ace's eyes widen as he was thrown back by the fact that no one knew of him and Vincent sharing the same body.
" A-and what would I have to do? Information doesn't come cheap."

Ace inquired. The words of the odd man began to interest ace, but even more so he begun to realize that uncomfortable and unnerving were to light of words to describe the distressing nature of him. The man in white clapped his hand together with a slight overly ecstatic energy about them. He knew he couldn't take the chance to say no either. Any clue was still another lead to his perplexing past.
" No, it does not. Do not vorry though, tis just a few simple odds und ends."

He shrugged as piece of gold lined paper landed in front of Ace's feet. He picked it up and read it. It only had three names on it and a list of where they were to. One in which he was very acquainted with.
" I take it you want me to kill them?"

The man clapped his hands together gleefully and excitedly.
" You are a very clever man, herr Ace. I know you vere ze right one as soon as I heard about you."

Ace clenched his sword tightly, realizing that once he agreed to this man's terms, there was no going back. His own words rung in his head as he said so many times before. Any clue was still a lead to his perplexing past.
" I think we have ourselves a deal."
////////////////////////

Hunter tossed and turned in his bed at the inn. He gripped the sheets tighter as the memories of Miruna flowed through his head. When they first met, right up to her death. The voices echoed in his head again and again.

~I only need a little bit more money. Please, it's important.
~B-but my medication......
~ How important is the medication? Is it what's keeping you alive?
~N-no, just please. It's the last bit of money I had, but here, have it.

"NO!"

Hunter shouted as he woke up. He felt the tears on his soaked cheeks. He quickly moved to the bathroom and splashed water over his face. Hunter looked down at the sink as the water dripped of his face.

" Why? Why did you do it Miruna?"

Hunter looked up into the mirror and saw the bloodshot eyes of the face he hated so much.

" Why won't you DIE!?"

He shouted at the reflection, shattering it as he slammed his fist into the glass. As Hunter recovered from the fresh glass in his hand he heard a faint laughter from the window of his room.

" No rest for the wicked it seems?"

The blond headed imp asked from the window. There was a moment of silence between them till finally Hunter spoke up.

"Um...... who are you?"
" Oh, silly child. You know me ^_^. I'm the bogeyman. But if you must give me a name. It's Ace."

Suddenly he launched at Hunter, who nearly dodged the blade. Ace was sent back into the shower curtain, but quickly cut himself out of it. Hunter scurried into his room and grabbed his cloak. No sooner did he have it around his neck as Ace had pinned it to the wall with his sword.

" Now now, little rabbit. You can't be running off. I need your foot as a lucky charm!"

Ace went directly for Hunt's neck with fiery nails. He ducked to try to avoid the attack, while at the same time ripping the pin from the cloak, freeing Hunter. The clip on the pin though cut Hunter's throat as it ripped across the skin. Ignoring the pain though he grabbed his sword and blocked Ace's next attack.

" Nice sword."
" Thanks."

Hunter said back before pushing him back and destroying the hotel wall, and knocking them into the street.

" Isn't this a fine mess we got ourselves into?"

He asked the first mate, as he slid the folder back across the table.

"I don't quiet understand sir?"

The man just stuck his feet up on the table and smiled slyly as he lit a smoke.

" Vincent Halberg and Ace. Anthony Brail and Blitz Vulrin. Dominic Sage. Dante Highwind and Jenes. Hunter Alison. And most of all, Vixil Valentine. Do you know what impact all these figures gathered in one place is having on the universe?"

" No sir, is it that bad?"
"Mate, The universe is going to end. And every reading points to this planet."
" And how do we know it's because of these people?"
" They don't belong. They just don't."
" I understand captain."
//////////////////////////////

Hunter was losing blood at a rapid rate. The pin had dug deeper into his neck than he first realized. It didn't help that his heart was was pounding. Hunt took a deep breath as he tried to calm himself. Meanwhile the imp danced around him like a tornado of violent slashes. Hunter dear not move to counter-attack as his sword acted as a grand shield. He knew his opponent would find a opening soon enough and then his journey would be over.

" Come on little rabbit, it's no fun if you don't fight back!"

Ace taunted. Ace, the self destructive, warmongering spirit, attacked Hunter excitedly like a child on Christmas day. But like all overconfidence, he began to make mistakes. Every single one Hunter caught happening. The question is would he still have enough strength in his body to make a move when the time came.

Unexpectedly Ace jumped onto the giant blade and began to pound on it with the bottoms of his palms.

" Afraid to break a nail!? FIGHT BACK!"

He shouted in a frenzied Rage. Finally Hunter saw his chance. Ace's foot slid back ever so slightly, Hunt shifted his sword with a lightning quick pivot and the Imp lost his footing, he fell back still stunned by the unexpected maneuver. Putting all his bodily strength behind the slash at Ace. The massive blade created a gust of wind behind it that it sliced the building parallel to Hunt clean in half. It fell back and crumbled onto the fallowing street. Hunter fell to his knee. Exhausted from the fight. He sighed a relieve and looked up to see what carnage he had done to the Imp. Hunter's eyes widened as he found no trace of him. Seconds later Ace flew out of the air like a missile, his foot collided with Hunter's face and something definitely was heard cracking. Hunter fell back to the ground, nearly unconscious.

" I guess I had a little too much fun? Well I enjoyed it. How 'bout you?"

Ace laughed manically as he rolled Hunter over to face him. At this point he was drifting in and out of consciousness.

" Well, orders are orders. Time to die, pretty boy!"

Suddenly someone grabbed Ace by the back of his collar and pulled him away.

" This ends now."
" Ah, I take it you'll......... Number 3 on my list. Well sorry, you'll need to wait your turn like everyone else."

Hunter was far too tired to move. But he heard everything from that point. The clash of swords and the imp cursing the man who saved him's life.

" Goddamn you're a pest."

Was the last thing Hunter heard.

One upon a time, there was a immortal mercenary,
The mercenary took many lives,
And saved many too,
Years he fought for what he believed in,
But the worlds problems began to take it's toll on him,
As the world began to take everything he had away, he began to hate the ones he once swore to protect,
And suddenly he just vanished from history, like a legend,
He vowed that he'd change the world, even if it cost him his life.

" Lovely ztory? Izn't it, Alisha?"
" Yes, master Blitz. It is."
" Vhat did I tell you about calling me master?"
" S-sorry."
"Itz fine."

Blitz stood up from his throne of a chair, he left the comfort of the roaring fire and moved towards hid gigantic window. Blitz pulled a deck of cards from his pocket and flipped the top card off the deck. The cards had a picture of a man with one arm gone, replaced with a claw. The bottom card read

[The King of Beasts]

Hunter awoke to a beam of light glaring in his face. The sun was just rising, but it felt like he had slept for days. The brisk mourning air smelled so very sweet to him. He ran his fingers through his hair, remembering a similar morning he spent with Miruna.

" How am I still alive?"

He asked himself. But before he could ponder his being there, Hunter grabbed his throat in pain. He suddenly found himself struggling for air. A shock went through his body and Hunter thrashed around so much he sprawled off the bed and onto the floor. As he gripped his throat, his feet kicked around like a mighty stallion, as if to fend off an invisible force. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted a note on the night stand, next to his bed.

~When you wake up, take pills. NO DILLY-DALLYING!!!!!!~

It read. Almost instinctively his arm leaped at the stand's top and searched around for anything like a pill. His fingers jumped around like a spider. Finally they found a small capsule that hunter violently shoved into his mouth.

after a couple more minutes of thrashing around on the floor, the pill finally kicked. Hunter lid silently on the ground. His breath fell to a silent whisper. Hunter then realized how beat out he was. He lie therein a half asleep state till arm found the note and brought it to his face. The note had more written on it than he first read.

~When you wake up, take pills. NO DILLY-DALLYING!!!!!!

I'll be waiting for you down stairs. Hope you like eggs~

Hunter closed his eyes and inhaled deeply before sighing.

" Dilly-Dally? What am I dealing with, a five year old?"

Hunter rushed to his feet and slipped on a shirt before heading down stairs. He crept down the stairs into a crowded restaurant. Even though, he found who he was looking for instantly. Hunter pushed his way through the people and sat across from the one who saved him.

" Sinclaire?"

Sinclaire lowed his newspaper to look at him.

" Yeah?"
" I hate eggs."

He responded to the mercenary before shoving a mouthful of hash browns into his mouth.

" Tip of the morning to you too."

Sinclaire returned to his newpaper.

" 238 murdered last. While I saved you, 12 die."
" So?"
" I hope you understand that everything we do has a ripple in the world."
" Then you should have let me die."

A ghastly silence filled the air. Sinclaire sighed as he looked at the boy. A almost pity look, filled his eyes.

" Why are you here Hunter?"
" What's with the sudden change in topic?"
" Fine with me if you don't want to tell me."

Sinclaire tossed a bag of the gold and stood up to leave.

" I came to find a flower that can bring back the dead."

Hunter said abruptly. Sinclaire turned to him slowly.

" A flower that can bring back the dead? Don't make me laugh."

The crowd suddenly thicken and Sinclaire suddenly disappeared. Hunter jumped to his feet and rushed out through the crowd and outside into the streets. He looked around frantically. But Sinclaire was gone.

The road was bumpy as the rebellion truck rolled down the dirt highway. Dominic chilled in the back of the jeep while Anthony sat in the front. a driver and soldiers filled the other seats.
" So I heard you killed a whole town back there?"
The drive asked, breaking the silence that filled the jeep.
" I killed a whole town back. Lev did nothing or the sort."
Dominic said sadistically from the back. The smoke from his cig filled the vehicle with a sicking smell. The scent made Lev gag since he lit it.
" Your a sick bastard, you know that? And goddamn it, will you put out that smoke?"
Sage just smiled as he lowed his hat to cover his eyes.
" Do me a favor."
He asked Lev.
"Yeah?"
" Duck."
As soon as Dominic said those words, the armored vehicle was hit with a missile. The vehicle flew into the air and flipped a couple times before landing on it's side in the ditch next to the road. Flames roared from the wreck as all possible signs of life disappeared. Suddenly the passenger door flew off as a huge white wing erupted from the flames like a white tower.

" Sir, target has survived crash. Arming next shot."

The solder reported into his radio. He grabbed another rocket and reloaded his launcher. He aimed his sights at Lev, who at the time was busy helping an injured soldier to worry about what happened. He pulled the trigger.
.....
Nothing happened. The shooter looked up to see the RPG cut in half and a figure looming over him. On pure instinct he whipped out his handgun and shot the figure.
" Shoot me again, I ain't dead yet."
It grinned. The shooter began to stumble back in panic, firing erratically at the shadow. In a moment the shadow was upon him, squeezing the life out him slowly. It's cold, translucent fingers wrapped around his neck like a vice grip.

Meanwhile Anthony helped the soldier the best he good with his weak healing spells. Dominic smiled maliciously.
" The enemy is dead."
He said quietly.
" Does it look like I care right now? This guy is injured!"
" Let him die. He served his purpose."
" To die? If you think I'll let him die your more fucked up than I thought."
" Just take off his helmet."
Lev did as he instructed. He peeled back the helmet to reveal a face identical to Dominic's.
" I see. So it instantly makes his life worth less than ours?"
" It does to me."
" Well I'm not going to leave him here."
" Suits me. But you can carry him back to base yourself, and share your rations with him."

Lev only nodded. Then finally the three were off. Everyone had the right to live, didn't they?
/////////////////

Hunter had been across the whole city searching for Sinclaire but had no luck. Luckily the streets were rather empty except the occasion thug, who he learned to deal with and the local merchants, who he learned to ignore. It was getting dark though, and he knew it would be more dangerous than the day. Hunter sat down on a bench to catch his breath before moving on.
" Dilly Dally......"
Hunter said out loud, matching the hundred times it ran through his mind. Why was it so important? He asked himself. He grabbed a newspaper off the ground hoping to distract himself before the light completely fled the sky. The first article was about the stadium that was in construction. Hunter continuously read off the first ten lines. It held him like a spell. But what was it?
" Dilly Dally......."
The first letter of each line spelled Dilly Dally. Instantly he knew where Sinclaire was.
////////////////

Gun fire erupted from the night as the rebels and the imperials squared off.
"Odin!"
Sinclaire shouted as he defended the stadium with a dwindling number of soldiers. The repels acquired technology far too advanced for them to build. Someone was funding them, Dante thought. A great blade descended from the heavens and stuck the ground. Massive waves of energy burst from the blade and incinerated any rebel in it's proximity.
"Dis's is ridiculous! E's gonna kill all of dem!"
Amazed at the sheer violence the one mercenary was causing. Vincent stared on in disbelieve.
" So? what are you going to do? Ask him to kindly stop? Psh."
Ace mocked.
" We 'ave teh do some'n!"
" Damn straight. But not for the same reasons, Vince."
The specter once again took over the innocent boy's body, but this time he had a plan for the mercenary.

Sinclaire continued to rip through the rebel's defenses. Dead spewed across the streets, and blood flowed like a river through the streets. Yet the makeshift army continued to throw themselves against the unrelenting mercenary. Arms slashed, head rolling, bodies scorched, spines snapped, and homes broken. A true scene from hell. Ace watched from the rooftops. He held himself with a mix of laughed and excitement. He cried out in chants, hoping it would never end. Pure ecstasy rushed through his veins. It was grand! Marvelous! Brilliant! Violence...... was amazing, he thought. Ace eventually began to regain his composure as the scene continued.
"Time......time to get to work."
He huffed, catching his breath. If he died here tonight, he wouldn't care. Such an artist, to create such beauty. A man with such dedication to his work. No, he would not mind dieing to such a man. But it wasn't JUST him tonight, it was him and Vincent. Two lives fighting and forever intertwined. Dieing wasn't an option tonight. He hauled the device from his coat pocket. The trump card. He lined his shot with the mercenary and let fly. It hit his mark.
He fell, a blade ran at him, seeing his chance to end this walking massacred. The human being was impaled instantly. and as the soul left his body. The mercenary, eyes matching the color of his stained sword stood over him. It became clear the mercenary was not human, nor anything else. He was not an animal. He was not an inanimate object. He was death. The reaper come to claim their souls. The celestial being Mars sweeping across this plain of existence, taking souls to expand it's nothingness. A single rebel stepped forward, as Ace joined him by his side.
" I presume your Dante Thanatos Highwind? I heard much about you."
The man seemed to be a leader in the pointless assault.
" Ya, like that!? You old fuck!"
Ace blurted out. Not being able to await a response any more.
" Hush, imp. You'll get your turn."
The leader hissed.
" I'm surprised the nobles would have assigned you to this lowly assignment. Spanning their forces so thin. You realize that a second force is attacking the noble's home as we speak?"
" I do what I'm paid to do. Babysitting isn't one of them."
" So....... this is just another job to you? All these lives for a few gold?"
" No. Just your leader's head."
At that moment Sinclaire embedded his sword into the leader's stomach. He feel to the ground, coughing blood and laid silent. Ace, with a curious look, knelled down next to the body. Ace searched the body head to toe. Seconds passed.
" Very nice....... you missed all vital organs and served his spine. If he doesn't bleed out, he's still screwed. Let me put him out his misery."
With a sadistic smile lining his face, Ace stood up and curb-stomped the mans face into the ground. Grey matter exploded onto the street. Skull crushed, eyeballs squished, blood squirted across Ace's shoe. All while Ace's smiled grew bigger. He turned to Sinclaire.
" So? You like my gift?"
"What did you do, imp?"
" Please, I have a name. It's Ace. And that was from my employer. He said it's for when I start stomping your ass into the pavement, because otherwise you'll just use that pesky Adephagos form of yours."
The night began to change. Something........ something. Blood began to seep into the group. And......And the moon, it began to changed, it was like all the blood was absorbed by the earth and transferred to the moon. It was just like that night. So long ago.
" I won't need it to beat you."
[ Vincent..... Vincent what's wrong? VINCENT!?]
[Please, stop. BOTH OF YOU!]
[Stay the hell away from my sister, demon!]
[VICTORIA!!!!!!!!!!]
" Sinclaire! DON'T FUCK WITH ME!"
Ace shouted. With a thousand angers behind him, Ace charged at Sinclaire. Gracefully in dodged the attack. Shedding his coat and throwing it into his face. Causing him to trip.
"FUCK!"
Sinclaire hung from the wall above him.
" Don't disappoint imp."
He mocked before jumping onto the roof.

" So........ Can I come in?"
" WE'RE UNDER SIEGE! You think we can let you just waltz in?"

The two guards shouted at the mysterious blue haired woman. It was true that the noble sector was now in shambles. The rebels had somehow managed to penetrate the walls.
" No, I was actually planning on killing you both."
" You have to be kidding me? Are you daft?"
Suddenly a hooded man suddenly placed a hand on the blue-haired woman's shoulder.
" She's quiet a joker? Isn't she? Sorry for the trouble gentlemen."
He laughed.
" Yeah..... Joker. Well don't worry, the rebels are being pushed back as we speak."
The air turned cold for a moment. The hooded man looked up with piercing eyes as his hand tightened on the woman's shoulder. A smile grew on her face till it completely lined her face.
" You see, the thing is, we can't let that happen......."
Like a tidal wave a mass of people rose from the foot hills only a short distance from the wall. They charged towards the gate. Before the guard could react the hooded man had already shot the first guard, and the second guard lay dieing on the ground. He held his neck gasping for air in his last few moments. He turned and looked at the woman.
" Would you kindly?"
He pointed a pistol towards the door. She nodded. The woman held her hand out. Hearing it's beckon a massive sword emerged from the ground. The 12 foot blade and it's wielder readied themselves in front of the gigantic gate.
She swung.
.......The gate was destroyed
..............The assault continued

~5 years ago

The moon hung high in the sky. The ghostly light bathed the girl sitting on her porch in the gentle light. It was always so serene.

" I wonder where Hunter could be?"

Miruna thought to herself as she sowed his favorite vest and waited for him to return home. Her calm face masked the worry and Anxiety as she wondered about her husband's whereabouts. A figure opened up the front gate of the yard.

" Hunter?"

Miruna shouted. No answer.
-------------------------

Meanwhile Hunter was at home. A home away from home. He was not alone though. Nor was he going home soon. The motel room smelled of sweet, and ecstasy filled the air. Hunter wondered how many times he was here, how many different women. Then again, why should he? Miruna never satisfied him, she was just there. This was must more fun than her. He continued to his 'fun', not giving another thought towards his wife.

Sinclaire barely dodged two more slashes from Ace. He knew he was slowing down. So far Ace had cut him to pieces. He was losing blood quickly. He feel to his knees.

" What's wrong Sinclaire? old age catching up to you? Noticing you can't use all your abilities? You deserve this you know."

Ace continued to mock him. Meanwhile Sinclaire pushed himself back to his feet. He stumbled to stay standing.

" No one can defeat me. Not because I'm strong, or because I'm fast. It's not the Adephagos either. It's because I have someone to fight for. A purpose to fight. How about you?"
" Get over yourself Sinclaire. I fight for the joy of it."
" Then your going to lose....."

Sinclaire fell to ground once again. He entered a coughing fit till eventually he vomited. It was all blood.

~ Sinclaire- Age 6
----------------------

" You know Kain, this is how people catch hypothermia."

Dante whispered as he and his brother laid in the snow. The snow drifted onto them from the clouds above. It slowly wrapped Dante in a frigid blanket. A soon to be coffin.

" It's so peaceful. To die here, while the snow falls and glistens so beautifully..... I wouldn't fight it."
His brother rolled onto his knees.

" We're not dieing here! We're going to make it!"
" Is there really any point to go on? What will we to when we get there? It's just so peaceful here. Who would miss two orphans?"
Dante suddenly felt himself being ripped up from the snow by his collar. Despite not even turning to his brother, he could feel the rage that radiated from him.
" OUR MOTHER AND FATHER DIDN'T DIE BACK THERE FOR US TO DIE NOW! We're going to make it. WE'RE! Even if I need to carry you on my back!"
Kain shouted. But Dante wasn't listening, another voice tinkled in his ear.

~ You made a promise Dante. Are you going to break it? What about the one to Rosa? And Kain? and Jenes? The one to me?........... Dante, don't die.

---------------------------

Sinclaire's eyes flashed open, instantly catching Ace's sword as it aimed for his throat.

" That's it Sinclaire! Get up! Get up! GET UP AND FIGHT ME!"
" I'M SICK AND TIRED OF YOU IMP!"
Sinclaire shouted, tossing Ace across the roof top. He caught himself around a pipe and flung himself back at Sinclaire.

" What's wrong Sinclaire!? The funs just beginning!"
He laughed madly as he flew towards Sinclaire. On Dante's side, he was far to injured and Ace was moving too quickly. He was a sitting duck. Time seemed to slow down as death inched close to Dante.
.........
Suddenly metal echoed against metal. Sinclaire saw the white blur with giant sword, and Ace cursing at the uninvited guest.
" H-hunter!?"
Sinclaire stuttered.
" Get up Sinclaire, no dilly-dallying! We'll beat this guy together!"
Hunter smirked. Sinclaire wobbled to his feet. Ace looked at his his new opponent and growled before bursting mad with laughter.
" Oh yes, this shall be fun. The one man there was just starting to bore me. Now fight me!"

I have earned the right to hate the world. It has taken my family, my friends, and even my life away from me. And thus I have taken many lives from it.
The two danced around Ace with razor exhibition. Despite the bladed hale that swarmed around him, he still swatted the hungry bee stringers away with relative ease. Sinclaire felt himself slowing down. Despite him never aging past eighteen, was his other years finally catching up with him? Every time a spark ignited off another clash of the blades, he saw his reflection once again. The shadows aged and morphed Sinclaire's face a little bit more every time.
But for me own survival, not revenge! I have earned the rite to hate the world and it is a rite it may keep!
Sinclaire ducked under the next slash, with a devastating foot to the chin Ace was launched into the air.
" Crimson Skies!"
He shouted as a stalagmite launched him into the air. He flew far above Ace. Suddenly five orbs suddenly appeared around the imp, trapping him inside their grasp. A symbol opened up in the sky above Sinclaire, summoning another stalagmite to launch him towards Ace. His blade was inches from the imp when his eyes flashed open.
" REAVER!"
With a flick of his wrist the orbs were torn to shreds and Dante sent plummeting to the roof top. Ace landed meters from him, completely unscathed.
" You can't win Sinclaire. Your too weak. Resolve? Regret? Revenge? It means nothing. But I'll admit, you did but up a decent fight. I'll make it quick!"
Ace chuckled. He began stepping forward, his footsteps treed so lightly, but they echoed dastardly in Sinclaire's ears like death upon his fiery steed. He closed his eyes tightly and waited. Ace jumped back, dodging the guillotine that nearly shredded the short man in two.
" Get up Sinclaire. GET UP!"
Hunter growled. He stood over Sinclaire in a protective manner.
" I heard her too Sinclaire. She said 'Don't die Dante. I heard the other one too! You promised you'd save the world! Did you lie to them!?"
" Shut up Hunter....... You don't know what your talking about."
Sinclaire hissed. Hunter firmed his feet to the ground. Rooting them encase Ace attack.
" On my way here........ I bumped into two girls. Both with flaming red hair covered in a hoods. They asked me about you. They wanted me to tell to be safe and no matter what, stay alive. You promised to make things right, no?"
Hunter exclaimed to Sinclaire. He sat knelled for the longest time before movement was seen. Sinclaire's fingers wrapped around his sword like a long rusted chain wrapping around a wench.
" No, I didn't lie. I intent to keep my word."
Sinclaire corrected Hunter with a forced smile. Using his sword like a cane he forced himself up for a final stand.
" Oh, are you 3 ladies done?"
Asked an unfamiliar voice mocked. Ace, Sinclaire, and Hunter quickly turned to see an odd dressed man perched on a chimney not far from were they stood.
" Is this tea party?"
He mocked. Before they could say anything, he continued.
" You want to save the world Sinclaire? You aren't do a very good job of it! Look! The towers you were sent to protect are in flame!"
He shouted hysterically, pointing his massive scythe towards the inferno in the distance.
" Who the hell are you?"
Ace demanded, secretly glad that yet another challenge stood before him. The man's shoes jingled as he hopped off the chimney, he hunched down in a battle position. Without a hesitation Ace dashed towards him. Next everything went blank for him. He never saw the man catch him on the bottom of the pole arm. Or the wind being knocked out of him and being sent sprawling against the roof top. Only rolling to his knees and choking on his breath. Sinclaire caught every moment as he stepped forward next. The emblazed patterns on the man’s cowl seemed to radiate with a hazy red light as Sinclaire stepped closer. The cowl snaked around his body down to the waist, finally draping over his left side, kept there with his heavy leather belt. His mud coloured pants stuck out against the cowl like his thick messy hair.
“ Haha! You actually want to try me next? You could barely stand up a minute ago!”
He scoffed at Sinclaire.
“ I’m not alone.”
Sinclaire reminded him. The stranger caught a glimpse of the massive blade from the corner of his eye. He pivoted, blocking the blade that nearly tore his scythe in two, it could have easily been him. He counter by elbowing Hunter over the blade and back stepping to a save distance. Hunter recoiled from the blow, touching his hand to his upper lip he saw blood running down two fingers. He merely flicked the drops from his fingers and readied for another attack. ‘Pain is nothing’ he thought. Running in for another attack. Just as the man went to block Hunter stopped. Using the fake out for a distraction, Sinclaire leaped over Hunter and went for the neck of the man.
“Close!”
He cursed, nearly hitting the mark but foiled by a quick step to the right. Sinclaire fallowed up with a slash with his blade, but the man pinned his sword to the ground with his scythe.
“ Pretty good kid. Name’s Dreg.”
He smirked.
“ That’s my line, prick.”
Sinclaire smiled before ramming into Dreg and momentarily knocking him off balance. Hunter used the opening to attack, volleying him back at Sinclaire. Sinclaire delivered a high kick that sent Dreg into the air. Dante rocketed into the air after him after a pillar of rock erupted under him. A circle of orbs surrounded Dreg. They pinned him to the air as another portal opened above Sinclaire. He tossed his blade into it which released it above Dreg. It sparked with light as he began to chant a incantation. A mass of lightning spewed forth from the blade and tore itself into Dreg, striking him relentlessly. Hunter watched below as he charged his own attack. His fingers burned like a torch at the tips. He swiped the air, releasing the energy. The particulars around Dreg suddenly supercharged, causing the air to become a raging torrent of flames and explosions. Dreg’s body fell motionlessly towards earth, but like a perfectly choreographed scene, Ace appeared above him. His eyes filled with rage as he saw Dreg again. A mass of energy darker than the night burst from his body and plunged into Dreg’s like massive stringers. It ripped through his veins, till a river of hungry vipers expelled from his mouth. Ace kicked off and landed a distance away. Even from three deadly techniques, Dreg landed on his feet in fighting position, barely a scratch or bruise on him. Sinclaire Crimson bolt barrage, Hunter’s giga flare palm, and Ace’s devouring aristo had no effect.
“ So I take it tea time is finally over?”
Dreg mocked once more.
“ Let me show you a real technique. Bloody howling!”
He shouted. Suddenly the cowl tore itself from his body and formed a giant serpent of cloth behind him. It let loss a massive roar that shook t he three to their very cores with the amount of energy it produced. Each was sent to their knees.
“ Pathetic, really.”
The cowl coiled once more around it’s master’s body. Hunter gasped for air barely being able to move. Dreg walked over to him calmly and put the scythe to his throat. He raised it up slowly to force Hunter to look up.
“ Do you see me? Do you see your end? You really are disappointing Hunter. How does it feel to see your end?”
Hunter stayed silent. He merely observed him.
“ Scared? Too scared to talk, huh?”
He still stayed silent. His eyes met Dregs. It struck him that nothing was there. No fear, no anger, no sadness. Just unending and vast emptiness that threatened to swallow Dreg.
“ You think it’s funny!? I‘ll kill you!”
He shouted panicky raising his scythe up to deliver a killing blow. But his weapon won’t move. Dreg looked back only to merely get knocked to the ground. Sinclaire stood over him. His eyes fiercer than any beast. Blood seeped from his palm where he grabbed Dreg’s blade. With a flick of his wrist he flipped the scythe around and raised it high into the air.
“ No one else is going to die because of ME!”
Sinclaire shouted slamming the scythe down. Dreg was gone before the weapon even hit the floor.
“ Nice try. But you’re still slow.”
Dreg gasped from the opposite side of the roof.
“ I’m going to the noble quarter Sinclaire, and I’m going to kill everyone there.”
He smirked before disappearing. Dante darted forward but was stopped by Ace stumbling in front of him.
We aren’t done yet Sinclaire.”
“ You’re a fool imp. You really think your in any condition to fight me?”
And he wasn’t. Ace was barely standing. His arm looked twisted and broken and the technique from earlier looked like it torn him apart. Suddenly a hand push Sinclaire.
“ Hunter!?”
“ Go on Sinclaire. How are you going to save the world if you busy fighting pointless battles like this?”
Hunter smirked weakly. He didn’t look much better either. Sinclaire stepped forward as knocked his sword against his boots.
“ Every battle is pointless.”
Hunter shot him a look of disbelieve which was returned with a light grin.
“ Stay alive.”
And with that Dante was gone.
“ I plan to.”
Hunter uttered, pointing his sword out in front of him and revving it’s powerful engine. It rumbled slowly like a great beast awaking. Suddenly it roared in flames and brilliancy. The sword demanded it’s awaken be heralded and the air around it was torn asunder and bowed to it’s bellow. The fire leaped and danced upon it’s back, reaching out to destroy the very reality that imprisoned it. Hunter held the sword higher in a manner the blade craved for and commanded.
Parlour trick time are over, I hope your ready to break your word, because your dead.”
Ace said confidently, holding out his own blade. The two warriors dashed at each.
=============================

The Rebels wiped their blades on the finely stitched clothing of their once been oppressors. They looked like feral beasts as they surged through the once white halls of the nobles. Once the pure marble halls stood as a testament of power and strength, now it was stained with blood of those who believed they shared such power. The swell of swords and battered flesh became still as their leader came to stand in front of them. Upon the podium that was once used for executing rebels he stood with his own captive. The once proud king Marcio kneeled in front of Dominic. He raised his sword into the air. The rebels howled.
“ People of the state! In front of you kneels your king! The same one that let you go hungry! He enslaved you! Tortured you! Killed you like animals! Now, for a man of his calibre, how should he die!”
Dominic cried. The crowd of bloodthirsty heads roared and cheered. Each bellowed their own form of execution. Eventually coming to agree that he should die on the barracks so many of their own died before. Marcio was thrown to his hands, before Dominic mercilessly dragged him to the noose. This only caused the mob to go wilder.
“ Put the noose on.”
Dominic ordered. He unwillingly complied. Marcio knew he’d either hang, or get torn to shreds by a sea of vengeful hands. He knew what was a better death. The mob chanted Dominic the liberator‘s name.
“ Good night sweet prince.”
Dominic laughed as he placed his hand on the lever. Everything went silent. And suddenly as if on cue, a crush of knights flanked the unprepared rebels. Bodies fell left and right. The leader of the band of knights stampeded towards Dominic. The hulk of a man was twice Dom’s height and three times as wide.
“ Your mine!”

Dominic fixed himself to the ground as he prepared for the knight commander’s charged. He was surprised when the commander charged through the barracks, destroying most of the supports with him. The gallows that held the king toppled over out of the way of the fighting. Knights quickly surrounded him. The rebels and knights both knew that the guards skill far surpassed that of the untrained swords that wanted Marcio dead. They quickly wisped him away as the rest of the kings guards frayed with the rebels. Though only another small battle in this night stained with blood, the outcome was the most important. ‘ If the leader of the rebels were struck down tonight, the insurrection would be end. The rats would be nothing without their head!” The commanded thought as he speared Dominic into stone wall behind then. Grabbing him by his cloak he viciously tossed Dom around like a rag doll. Constantly slamming him into the cobble stone earth that was paved with the blood of slaves and cruelly tossed him against the castle exterior that was cemented with the countless lives of poverty stricken people. The commander finally dropped the motionless body and let him roll across the ground.
“ Come on god of life. Get up! Get up and show me how you earned your title!”

The god of life. That was what the rebels called their leader. The knight commander knew all of them. The Blue Lady, White Winged Angel. But most of all the Dues Qui interested him the most. It was a old slave word for god. ‘How does one earn the title of god?’ This was a question he wondered since the uprising began.
“ GET UP!”

He ordered once more. But still Dominic didn’t move. Infuriated, the commander raised his massive foot up and brought it down on the spine off the hapless man. He still didn’t move. The commander grew more angry at his disobedience and stomped on him once again, and again, again. He continued this till his leg grew tired. The rebels looked on helplessly as each stomp crushed there hope a little more. Finally he stopped once he saw life was no longer in their god. Disappointed, he turned to the rebels. The fighting stopped as both parties stopped to listen to what the commander had to say.
“ Is this your god!?”

He shouted.
“ Is this your god? I have proven his falsehood you stupid monkeys. Your masters will tell you what to believe in. I tell you who you believe in. Not your false messiah!”

The crowd stayed silent. The commander reached for his sword. He’d make the rebels understand even if he needed to kill all of them himself. But he felt nothing. He looked down to see it was gone.
“ Looking for something?”

A voiced asked behind him. Dominic casually sat on the broken barrack as if nothing had happened, examining a huge sword as one would a toy. The commander looked back to where he left the body but no trace of it ever being there was left. He looked back to Dominic, under his horned helm he was terrified.
“ I never once claimed to be a messiah, you know?”

Dominic enlightened him.
“ They call me the Dues Qui because that is what I am. Can I deny what I am anymore than you can?”

He asked the commander.
“ You? A god? You are nothing. NOTHING YOU HEAR ME!?”

The knight-commander shouted as he charged at Dom, only to be swatted away. He rolled across the ground and stopped on his back. The commander looked up to see Dominic standing on top of him. Dom slowly began to push the sword into the thick, plate armour, stopping only inches from the heart.
“ You’ve had your fun, knight. Judging by your little speech I can only imagine how many of these people you made suffer. Your death would be well welcomed. May Yggdrasil have mercy!”

Dominic cried as he wrapped his hands around the hilt of the blade and prepared to plunge the sword into the commander’s heart. The mob went silent.

Shana had worked in the castle for years. No, ever since she had come to this world. Her pay wasn’t the greatest, but she had never been mistreated, not like before. She walked the halls being ignored by the rebels. Shana knew about the rebellion since it first reached ears of the castle. Though it was something to worry about, she never imagined it would reach the inner circle of the noble quarters. She remembered when it started, a group of men dressed in rags and wielding swords came running through the halls howling like animals. She was frightened as one grabbed her, thinking foul of their motives as he shook he. He yelled ‘Go sister! You are now free! Long live the rose!’ and handed her a ribbon that held their sigil. She wasn’t familiar with the language they had developed to keep their messages secret encase they were interrupted before reaching their destination. She knew little of it though. It began when the strange scribbles were brought to the castle. The nobles thought it was code at first too. But after weeks of trying to decipher it they gave up and informed the king it was merely a ruse. Thus it was thrown away. Luckily another maid, Mari came across it while throwing out the trash. In little over a afternoon she had figured it out. Realizing what she found, the note was quickly burned.

Mari had come from the slums. And as a child she played a board game that was invented by a local shoe smith. The symbols were the same as the ones of the board game. Everyone who lived in the ghetto knew them by heart. It was clear to say she supported the rebellion. Mari had only informed a few childhood friends who, by some sort of luck, managed to secure a job in the castle. Shana was lost at the reason why she informed her of the discovery. The inscription read ‘By the white rose, your passage is safe.’ Did she really look like someone from the slums? Or was it they were only after knights and nobles? She wondered as she wandered the ransacked halls of where she use to work. Eventually she found her way to the library. It was a mighty tower in the center of the castle. The only way to get to it was a narrow bridge that connected it to the public wing. She lost all hope as she saw gentle flames lick the frames of the windows. The only place she found solace was gone. Shana, like her employers, were defeated.

“ How do nobles where this stuff?”

Jenes asked as she tried on the gold jewellery. It looked severely out of place against her blue long coat with the flames reaching up from the bottom, the blue sleeveless pullover underneath, her navy pants, and her black combat boots.
“ That’s because some people have taste, Jenny.”

Anthony stood in the door way of the noble’s room. They were gone before Jenes had arrived, but their belongings remained, she hoped to find something decent among the evil the nobles were, but there was nothing in the rooms she had pillaged. Just junk like gold necklaces and jewel encrusted clothes. Things worth a sum she could earn in a week, given the right gambling establishment that is. Anthony stepped forward and sat on the edge of the bed Jenes lid on.
“ Just joking, Jen. Find anything worth stealing?”

He smiled. Jenes only casually rolled over and dangled the necklace in front of her eyes.
“ No, just junk. What could these nobles be thinking? They waste their money on such crap and thousands of people are suffering in their city.”
“ You know, they aren’t all alike. We just finished escorting the last of the nobles who donated often to charity out of the city. It’s not even them really, it’s prejudice of their forefathers and lack of jobs do to generations of family servitude and ridiculous laws to keep them down. We can’t choose who we are.”

Anthony explained to Jenes. He was a mystery to her. Though he fought for the rebels, he thought neutrally of both. She didn’t think she’d be able to fight the knights if she had such understanding of both sides. Thinking they were evil was much easier than giving them reason. She sat up to meet him eye to eye.
“ Says the Eon. You choose who you are when you enter this world. Whatever ever body you take over is yours, including their life. I mean, what you do sounds much crueller than what we do.”
“ You make a point. We take a body, the memories, and essentially the previous owner’s life and thus craft it to our own needs. This is cruel, that’s why Eons have rules in place to even it out. Only a hundred or so can traverse the expanse at one time. And as you remember, once we attach ourselves to a body we’re stuck in in till it dies and we are sent back to our plain of existence.”
Anthony enquired to her. Jenes merely yawned and stretched her arms.

“ Restricted as it, it’s still horrible. And it’s like the fifth time you’ve explained it? As interesting as it is, it‘s rather boring compared to a war zone.”
“ As out spoken as always Jenny”
“ Hey, stop calling me that!”

She whined childishly, punching Anthony in the arm.
“ Dom dammit. I’m adult, not a child! And I’m damn sure older than you!”

A long silence filled the room.

“ Okay, well maybe not.”
Jenes corrected herself.
“Any reason why you decided to come bother me?”

Anthony held up a shred of paper.
“ You know that guy you’re looking for? He entered the city about a week ago.”

Jenes took the piece of paper and scanned over it. It was him alright. Anthony started again.
“ So do you know what Dom’s up to?”
“ Som’n about kings and public executions. You should be able to see it from the window.”

Anthony stood up and leaned out the window. His jaw dropped. Jenes quickly rushed over to see what was wrong. Both of them gazed at the scene that unfolded in the courtyard below.
///////////////

Sinclaire twisted Dominic’s arm back and tossed him to the ground. Dom rolled upon the ground back to his feet.
“ You must be the mercenary they hired? How much gold is one soul worth to you?”
“ Go fuck yourself.”

Sinclaire responded to Dominic before he barely finished his sentence. Dom was surprised but instantly regained his composure.
“ Not a talkative type are you?”
“ Dante!”

Jenes shouted from above as she jumped from the window and landed on the ground, quickly wrapping her arms around Sinclaire.
“ Dom, it’s him. It’s Dante, my brother!”

She said overjoyed. Dominic stayed surprise this time.
“ Jenes get away from him! He’s the mercenary who was hired to kill us!”

He shouted to her pulling a gun on Sinclaire. Jenes glanced back and forth between Dom and her brother.
“ It couldn’t be. Dante, don’t tell me you are actually working for these slave drivers! Don’t you see the pain they have caused!?”

She cried, wondering if her brother could really be that cruel. Sinclaire ignored her and pushed her aside. He pointed his sword menacingly towards Dom despite his emotionless eyes.
“ Dante, you can’t be serious! Please.”

Still he ignored her. Years she looked for him, only to find this monster. Jenes stood their heartbroken. Suddenly she saw he only had one arm. His Adephagos powers weren’t working. Sinclaire and Dom readied themselves for a fight.
“ Dom! He’s injured, you really can’t be serious on fighting him!”
“ He’s a threat to us and the rebellion. This will only make it easier Jenes!”

Dom shouted back to her, hoping that she’d understand. Anthony flew down behind her.
“ We need to go Jenes!”

He urged, knowing how bad the battle could go if she remained.
“But……”

She mumbled, but Anthony was already dragging her away. The rebels understood and also fell back. Encase, other battles raged across the noble quarter, and their brothers needed all the help they could get. A fell wind began to pick up.
“ So you murderous bastard, what have you done to my sister?”

Sinclaire demanded.
“ What have I done? I’ve done nothing to her. What kind of brother are you? You suddenly disappear one day, leaving behind your own family. And then you sell out, taking money over family? You fucking disgust me.”
“ You really think I’m the bad guy here? You’ve cost your own men’s life, the knight’s lives, and countless other lives as crime runs rampant across the nation! And then you think everything will be okay if you destroy the royal imperia? Who will manage things then? How do you plan to rebuild everything, and have everyone live equally? Or have you even thought that far ahead?”

Sinclaire enquired about his future plans. A grim look crossed Dom’s face.
“As I thought.”

He scoffed at the rebel leader. Dom’s hands shook as he gripped his hand guns harder.
“ Then what did you expect me to do!?”
“ Anything that didn’t involve this much violence! Show Marcio what’s happening outside the noble quarter! Beseech him! Only recently did he find out how bad it is outside the castle! He’s a reasonable man. But you think after this display you’ve brought any good to the people of the slums! And now look how much bloodshed you’ve caused!”

Suddenly Dominic appeared in front of Sinclaire, knocking him to the ground with the back of his pistol.
“ Violence. I’d expect nothing more of a barbarian.”

Sinclaire smirked before tripping Dominic up and nearly impaling him with a near translucent blade that Sinclaire could summon on command. Though long a slender like a rapier, his brother who first coined the technique often referred to them as dream daggers. Dominic caught himself and shifted out of the way in time to avoid the blade. As much as he disliked using them, they’d have to be his second arm during the battle. Suddenly a all too familiar voiced interrupted them.
“ Damn you guys are so boring.”

Dreg’s voiced echoed down on them as he watched them from the top of the castle wall. He leaped down to meet them eye to eye. They observed each other intensely. Finally they broke the silence with clash of metal. Dom struck first, firing at Dreg and Sinclaire, both easily blocking the bullets with their respected weapons. Dreg easily gained the upper hand by sweeping Dom on his feet and catching Sinclaire on the end of it in the same movement. Calling upon the dragon cowl again, Dreg sent Dominic rocketing into the air, smashing through the walls of the library, stories above them. Unexpectedly Sinclaire caught up to Dom in midair and slammed him into the nearest bookshelf. He quickly snaked out of the hold and planted his feet to the ground and grabbed Sinclaire by the ankle. He followed up by spinning the mercenary around, tossing him against a number of bookcases before releasing him, sending Sinclaire spiralling into a wall. Meanwhile Dreg had caught up to the fray, slashing frantically at Dom, who could barely keep up the flurry of attacks. Finally Dom spotted an opening, raised his pistol and fired, nearly taking out Dreg’s eye. Dreg was forced to fall back, but refused to give the rebel leader a second to breath. He prepared to use the cowl once more, but this time Dom countered it with his second pistol that caused mana to exploded when concentrated at the exact moment when Dreg used his attack, the resulting explosion sent both of them into the air.

Sinclaire recovered from being slammed into the cold reinforced walls and hurdled towards the battle once more, but he was still far too weak to keep up. After days of not sleeping or eating, numerous battles, the device Ace implanted in him, they all quickly began to take their toll on him. Dreg and Dom were already back to fighting. Each taking shots at each other, but being too fast to connect. Sinclaire went for a killing blow on Dreg, hoping to catch him while he was off guard. It was a fatal mistake. Dreg simply spun in middle air, putting him point-blank into Dom’s gun. Seeing his chance to get Sinclaire out of the way, he fired. The shot was clean, as it went through sinclaire’s heart and out the other side. Unfortunately Dreg wasn’t done. As Sinclaire fell back he was caught on his opponent’s scythe. It easily tore through his chest. Dreg coldly shook him off as if he was a insect on a windshield. His body plummeted to the floor lifeless.
/////////////////////////

Thousands of memories passed through Dante’s head as he fell. Every battle he ever fought, every person he ever cared about, every soul he ever vanished. They were all there. Sinclaire squeezed his eyes closed tightly. Then it all stopped. The ground that rushed up to meet him disappeared, the battle above dissolved into the air, and the walls, books, shelves, everything drained into whiteness. Dante opened his eyes to find everything gone. He noticed he was also no longer falling. Instead he was lying down. He sat up to take in the vast expanse that surrounded him. His clothes were also different. Their whiteness matched that of the background. Dante moved himself to his feet. He looked around to embrace where he was.
“ How’d I end up here?”

Dante asked himself out loud. It suddenly caught his eyes. He turned around to see a pedestal materialize in existence. On top of it floated a single crystal rose. Behind it stood a familiar face. Dante stepped forward shocked.
“ L-Lilia? It’s you. Lilia!”

Dante said stumbling through everything he wanted to say. He shut up and hugged her. They embraced each other for an eternity.
“ Lilia, I missed you so much.”
“ Dante, what are you talking about?”

His eyes widened as they met hers, but she merely smiled.
“ I’ve always been with you, Dante.”

Dante looked dumbfounded for a moment before returning the smile. Lilia released herself from Dante’s grasp. She opened her palm to reveal the rose once more. On closer inspection it flashed with every memory he saw as he fell.
“ Take it. Dante you promised our daughter you’d save the world. But your in something bigger now. Save everything Dante. For Rosa. For everyone.”
“ Lilia, I swear to you I’ll save everything. I love you, Lil-……..”

Dante picked up the rose and reached in to kiss his love.
===============================

A tower of infinite power arose from Sinclaire’s corpse. It demolished the roof and every floor of the library tower. Dreg and Dominic barely dodged the pure destruction as they pushed off each other for momentum and pressed themselves against opposite stone walls. The light almost blinded the two as the squeezed their eyes tightly close in a vain attempt to avoid it. Dominic reached out to his most trusted companions.

“ Anthony, call a retreat! Something’s happened. Jenes, I-I need you to destroy the tower right now! I’m closing the channel after the this order!”

His voice demanded in the heads of his two colleagues. Whatever was causing this terrible power he wasn’t risking anymore death tonight on it. Suddenly he heard it. The sound. Like a great beast had tore itself from hell. The sound was terribly beautiful. It manifested itself as one name.
“ LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILIIIIIIAAAAAAAAA!”

Was what it was. Finally the energy along with the sound stopped. Dominic opened his eyes only to be met with his face being smashed in by a claw. Finally after the thrashing it tossed him aside like a rag doll. ‘Was it his Adephagos form?’ He thought. ‘No it was too powerful, even for that.’ Meanwhile Dante saw everything unfold, he saw his body move without his commands. Something told him even if he was in there, he wouldn’t be able to control that power that was in him now. It wasn’t his Adephagos form. Though similar, it was different. He only had one arm, but he always masked it with the powers of the demon that lived inside him. The Adephagos claw. A solid limb that began at the elbow. It looked solid like stone, but was quite flexible. Even still it was invincible to everything. It also glowed a faint orange aura. It’s fingers also looked like thick bent spikes. Still, they worked. Easily being able to rip through just about anything. Up the back of the claw came three small horns in a series.

In his Adephagos form it grew even stronger. A bump would grow on the back, almost looking like it could open. And it would, if the demon was in control. It could stretch to great lengths in this form while still maintaining it’s strength and durability. Sinclaire would also grow wings as black as night. The only exception was the two red circles on each wing, each had devilish details that made them look like demonic eyes that stared into the soul. His hair also turned a winter white. His powers were exceptionally magnified in this form, but the limited time involved in the form and his own pride caused him to use it sparingly.

But what ever he was now was neither. The horns off the claw were melded together into a big spike and it now pointed out in the opposite direction, towards the fingers. Possibly a effective impaling weapon. Though Sinclaire’s hair remained pitch black, it hung down over the eyes to an emotionless face. The wings were also different. Their edges lined in gold and they looked more elegant and noble that the former wings that looked like they invited death. Surprisingly his sword had morphed also. It was now more curved, and the steel now red, and the wing that made up the guard was black.. The charm that hung from the held was luckily still the same. Dante now looked on as his body in this new form flew over to Dreg who still remain motionless again the wall.

Suddenly Dreg sprung to life and attacked, but it was in vain as the beast grabbed his wrist, and with a flick his forearm was gone. Dreg screamed in pain, but was cut short as Dominic attacked from behind. It effortlessly dodged the attack, still holding Dreg by his other wrist like a child holding it’s favourite toy, clutching tightly. It swung at Dominic with the new spike, but Dom was still faster. It barely missed, but still gave a big enough opening to almost have it’s head taken off by a single kick. This time the beast took him serious and dropped Dreg as he focused on his real opponent.
----------

Hunter ran through the Castle wings and through corridors as fast as he could after defeating Ace. Somehow Hunter knew sparing him was the right thing to do, despite his dangerousness. Finally he came to the doors he was looking for. The ones that led to the library. He saw the light and new it must have been Dante. Heck everyone saw the Light. Still running he jumped into the doors and kicked them open. He didn’t expect for a girl to be on the other side. She slid across the stone bridge, and somehow, tripping himself in mid air, landed on top of her. She screamed and slapped him, effectively knocking him off her and she scurried across the ground and grabbed a bow and a quiver.
“ Y-your one of those filthy rebels aren’t you! You…..you…. book hater!”

The girl accused Hunter. Hunter, not knowing what was going, stood up as calmly as he could and hoped he could talk the girl down.
“ Listen, I’m not a rebel. I’m the opposite, I’m helping a man named Sinclaire hunt them down and…..”

Hunter quickly cut off. Beyond the girl was a strangely dressed girl with a massive masamune. She looked ready to bring the tower down. She looked like she could.
“ No, wait! Stop!”

Hunter yelled, running at her. Shana meanwhile thought it a offensive and fired her arrow into his heart. He fell instantly. Though as Hunter hit the ground, and was unable to move his head was left turned to the tower and the woman. Energy circled around her blade as she was able to swing. But before Jenes could, a explosion was heard inside the tower and every window spewed fire. The massive doors and most of the wall was blown apart. Jenes quickly retreated and disappeared. Though the flames walked a body. Though the face shadowed, he knew it was Sinclaire. No, he realized.

No, it wasn’t Sinclaire. It was god.

“ STAY STILL!”
Like hell! That stings!”

Ace yelled at the medic who was now trying to patch him up from the battle the previous night. Allot of wounds covered his body, that meant allot of anti-infectant. Though he felt every sting, he could do very little about it. It wasn’t HIS body at the moment.
“ Ace, the doctor is only try’n taa ‘elp us.”

Vincent sighed as he rubbed the back of his head. He sat nearly naked in the ivory white with nothing to call his own but his briefs.
“ Encase, Ace, ‘ow do ye get dis bet up? Yur using ma body, so be careful wit it.”

Vincent asked in his thick accent.
“ Me un Ace are sorry for teh trouble, doc. Dis must be very confus’n for ye.”

He apologized for the banter between himself and the entity known as Ace. Not many would actually believe that another spirit inhabited his body. Through out the worlds he’s been in it’s usually just assumed he was a mental case, or bipolar. On a few occasions he was even accused of being a witch, despite the gender difference. The relationship between him and Ace was a long and complicated one that even confused the duo to this day.
“ Not really. Master Blitz had a file composed of you. I find it interesting on how two souls are inhabiting the same body!”

She said with a gleam in her eye.
“ W-wut do ye mean?”

Vince asked with a blink. She looked up at him curiously, but before she could say a word, Ace interrupted.
She means she wants to cut you up and experiment.”

The spirit mocked cruelly. Vincent’s eyes widened and he began to slide backwards on the check-up table. Ace, for as long as he had been with Vince, had learned to pull his strings rather well. Sometimes he could not simply pass up a opportunity like this. The doctor jumped up swiftly and stomped her foot and slammed her hands on something imaginary.
“S-shut up, you evil, evil imp! I wouldn’t do something like that. Shut up!”

She cried as she jumped Vincent and attempted to force a hand down his throat.
“ I’ll come in their and kick your ass you son of a-”

She stopped at the sound of the familiar, sarcastically slow clapping. Blitz, followed by a number of confidants entered the room.
“ Oh? Vhat is zis now? You do know zis ist highly unprofessional, yes?”

He asked in his foreign, yet regal and demanding accent. The doctor quickly jumped off of Vincent and bowed. The child like and pacifistic personality of Vincent tilted his head in confusion to unfamiliar and formal gesture. Vincent waved to Blitz.
“ N-no Master Blitz t-this isn’t what it looks like. Honestly.”

She tried to explained and bowed a few more times. He merely smiled.
“ I vas only joking Valissa. You think as I as being too serious. Vhat is life without fun, no?”
Well you keep on living in your world of ignorance and bliss while others are out there fighting and dying.”

Ace interrupted suddenly. Two of the confidants pushed their way in front of Blitz, the had weapons drawn and teeth bared, ready to pounce at Ace like loyal animals.
“ Don’t talk to Master Blitz like that cur!”

They shouted simultaneously. Ace noticed instantly noticed they were twins, despite their different color hair and styles, they were unmistakably twins. Blitz quickly disarmed them by placing a hand on each shoulder and reassured them a nod. They backed off.
“ Sorry for zat inconvenience, zey are trained vell.”

The girls looked up to him admiringly, he continued.
“ I promised you answers Vincent und Ace.”

He announced very professionally. Ace only sighed, passing him off as bloated and egotistical. Another liar. And if that was the case, another dead.
Let me guess. You can’t? You know, I don’t like those who cheat me, Blitz.”

Ace hissed poisonously.
“ Nigh, mien friend. I had hoped to not put you in zis position. You are going to find out your past. You are going to the village of Junedicar.”

Blitz inhaled deeply while pressing a hand on the paper filled desk in Valissa’s office. He looked as if he was still thinking hard for a moment, or possibly regretting everything he just said.
“ You vill be accompanied by two of mien most trusted confidants. Soletta, Lunata.”

The twins from before stepped, obediently obeying their master, despite the nervousness hidden behind their eyes. Ace glanced them up and down. Vincent opened his mouth to welcome them aboard but before a word could echo from his mouth Ace had already began.
You honestly don’t expect me to take them with us? I didn‘t join you Blitz so I could baby sit for you.
“ We’ll see now, won’t we?”
------------------------------

“ AHH!”
Hunter shouted as he awoke with a fright. He looked himself up and down. Heavily bandaged, bruised, dirty. Not how he’d expect to wake up dead. A thick cold drop fell from his brow. ‘Was it all a nightmare?’ he asked himself in his head. He slid a forearm across his soaked brow in a vain attempt to tidy is filthy appearance. He suddenly noticed the other presence in the room.
“ I take it you saved me? Sinclaire.”

Sinclaire sat in the bergèrein the corner, engrossed in a novel. His demonic arm was once again back. Even in the brightness of the room Hunter saw it’s eerie blue-grey glow.
“ No. I can barely remember what happened last evening. From what I heard I passed out not long after you. Dreg escaped after that.”

He corrected Hunter. A long silence came across the room as Sinclaire returned to his novel. Hunter continued to look at the mercenary, expecting more.
“ Well?”
“ Well, what?”
“ Well who did heal me than?”

Again the silence droned across the room. Finally Sinclaire answered him.
“ If I knew, I thought you would have assumed I would have informed you.”

His bluntness was like a hammer that slammed into Hunter’s head. ‘ Of course he would have.’ He thought to himself. Though, Hunter still found it unnerving that he owed his life yet to another. He fell back onto the great whiteness that was the pillow. Sinclaire broke his silence again.
“ The maid on the bridge. I think she was the one who saved you.”

Hunter shot up into a sitting position. The maid? The one that shot him? He comprehended this information. She saved him, yet at the same time she was the one that pierced him the arrow. Hunter didn’t know whether to thank her, yell at her, or kill her. But then again, he might not even see her again. A knock came at the door and it slid open. Hunter looked to Sinclaire and caught his new ear to ear grin, catching him mutter.
“ Speak of the devil.”

Hunter turned to see who the figure in the doorway was that bestowed the upon the battle hardened mercenary. The familiar workers gown and ribbon tied black and silver hair surprised him.
“ You-!”

He stopped himself. The girl turned her eyes to the ground as if his accusing eyes and harsh tone came across her like a heavy hand.
“ Yes?”

He asked more gently.
“ The king has ordered your presence, Master Sinclaire and Mr. Alison.”

The maid said gently as if she would choke upon the next word.
“ Leave us then and report we will be there momentarily.”

Sinclaire ordered as he and the maid left Hunter in the room to do the things he must do to prepare to meet with a king. After forcing himself out of the folds of the amazingly comfortable bed he found himself in the bathroom staring at a filthy unwashed stranger. A few years ago he would have never thought he would have to encounter such a messy person, what was worse was that messy stranger was him. Now this scruffy man was to meet with a king! Practicing his old ways of making a good impression and washing himself, he soon came to understand it was too much of a chore. Hunter would have to meet the king with the mentally of that stranger he had become and not the suave business man he use to be. As he combed his hair in the mirror he thought to himself ‘at least I can look the part.’
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Sinclaire and Shana waited patiently outside as hunter got ready. Finally he exited dressed in the same as he had entered. Sinclaire gave him a questionable look.
“ You took all that time to come out looking the exact same? Damn it, I knew I should have asked for a resume before I took you on as my partner. ”

Hunter blinked for a moment.
“ I’m your partner?”

He asked, curious at where Sinclaire had got this conception from.
“ You’re looking for this flower right? Who else do you know who has connections this close to the king of the most powerful nation in the world?”

Sinclaire retorted. Hunter knew he was right, he did need Sinclaire to get what he wanted.
“ And what do you get from this?”

He asked. The mercenary sighed deeply as he began to explain.
“ As much as it pains me to say, the rebels are more powerful than I first estimated, and I need help. And from what I’ve seen, you’re the more powerful than any knight here. Though that isn’t much of a compliment.”

The newly formed partners glanced at each other, saying nothing while Shana looked on as she stood between them.
“ Um….. Master Sinclaire, M-m-m-Mr. Alison…..”

She peeped up. The two turned to the maid.
“ I suppose your right.”

Sinclaire breathed as he turned and began walking towards the throne room. As Hunter followed him him swore he heard as whispered ‘sorry’ from the maid.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Sinclaire and Hunter entered the throne room followed closely behind by Shana. Despite the events that transpired the previous night Marcio looked well. He greeted The mercenary and his companion with open arms.
“ Good to see you again Master Sinclaire.”
“ It’s a pleasure to see you still alive.”

Sinclaired mocked lightly. Marcio just smiled gently.
“ As comical as always, Master Sinclaire. But who is your associate?”

Marcio paused for a moment before continuing.
“ I know you….. Mr. Alison, may I be so inclined to ask your first name.”
“ Hunter.”

He responded. The king’s eyes lightened up.
“ So we’ve met before. Mr. Alison. You were one of the biggest business tycoons in the whole kingdom. Everyone knew your name. Till you disappeared. Is this what have you been doing?”

Hunter looked towards the ground. Not in disgrace of his former self, but remembering what drove him to this.
“ I’m trying to right a wrong.”
“ Your business really needed you, did your wrong really require you abandoning everything. Surely there had to be another way?”

The king asked. Hunter looked and they met eye to eye. Determination burned in his eyes, but below that, deeper than he hoped anyone would look, regret was slowly dousing that which kept he going.
“ I’m sorry your majesty, but some wrongs money can not fix. This is something I must do.”

The ruler sighed at Hunter’s stubborness.
“ If this is truly the only path, I wish you the best luck young Alison. But we currently have bigger problems , it seems a town has been attacked. I want you to investigate Sinclaire.”
“ No offence, your Majesty, but towns have been attacked since this war began. What makes this so important?”
“ The cold truth is that we’ve been fighting two opponents here. The rebels…… And ourselves. The undead selves.”
“ You mean zombies?”

Sinclaire asked a little astonished the king would speak of such nonsense. The king continued.
“ In a sense, yes. It only started as small coastal towns disappearing. Raiders probably. But more and more began happening. And a few days ago one of my most trusted knights returned with such terrifying news. Of dead walking the streets of these deserted towns. I know he wouldn’t lie. And another one went missing a day before the rebels assaulted the capital.”
“ But why is this such a concern? If these attacks are so isolated, shouldn’t we focus on following the rebels and stopping them before they can regain their force?”
“ We thought of that Sinclaire, but if you noticed, we too are in shambles. Attacking them now would be foolish. I doubt they’ll try to attack again for a while. Sinclaire, I believe yours and Mr. Alison’s strength is needed for this mission. You are the only ones who I believe that can do this.”
“ So what is the name of this place?”
“ It’s Junedicar. It’s the only village that borderlines the black marshes. And the marshes are the only thing that separate us from the plague of recent villages going missing. I fear the town might be the next attacked before they march upon us.”

The mercenary nodded as the king continued to explain.
“ I see your concern, your kingship. I can head off immediately, but I need to make a request……”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

The group now traveled on the path that to Junedicar, exiting the outskirts of the capital. But they were no longer a duo, but had now become a trio. Hunter kept glancing at their new companion as Sinclaire led. Finally he became too curious and had to inquire.
“ Um, Sinclaire. Any reason why we are bringing the maid along?”

He asked. Wanting to know the purpose of having Shana accompanying them.
“ Because, despite her being a maid, she’s also an excellent healer. Not many could cast magic powerful enough to heal us in the shape we were in, and so she’s a valuable new member of the team.”

Sinclaire declared. They both looked back at Shana who looked like she wanted to say something. Finally she spit it out.
“ Don’t I get a say in all this?”

She asked, heavily opposed to the idea of being brought into combat.
“ Don’t I get a say in this!?”

She shouted. Sinclaire shrugged his shoulders.
“ You did. Back when you applied for a job as a maid. Encase, the king already assured you that you’d be paid over time.”
“ B-b-but this could cost me my life. I don’t know anything about you guys, but I have realized I can’t fight either!”
“ But you can use magic and have a the bow and arrows the knights gave you before you left. Just keep us healed and we’ll have your back.”

Sinclaire argued.
“ Encase, don’t you want to get back at those book haters?”

Hunter chimed. Shana grew wide eyed.
“ B-but! Arrrrr! I can’t win.”

She cried as Sinclaire and Hunter laughed.

Let me be your sword and your shield
Maaaan I just read that all from start to finish. Praise be to the Great Mother Flippin' Lord of Darkness! Seriously I loved it, even though I'm not one for bloody stories. And it was all kinda like a Tales of the World game, since all these characters are from different RPs, ne? I say it has a really cool effect, and I dunno what I was thinking, saying it was ambiguous =P I got it this time~

I like how you can write good chaos, something I could never do, I think =P Blitz is an obvious Expy to Yeager, but I'll forgive him and highfive him if you make him say "See you in the funny papers, leibshin" or whatever =)

And now after reading this, I'm in a writing mood. so thanks XD

It basically is my own TotW. A few scratched characters make an appearance here too. And thank you, I'll make sure I put that in when Blitz gets more type time ^_^

I just read the whole first page and so far I love it. (: I am always up for a story with a lot of blood and violence in it.

Very nice, Nova. I hope you decide to eventually write more! (:

And how I felted betrayed
And I thought he would forsake me
God did not

God made me him and now I am

Dominic continued to walk ahead of the group in the grassy plains. Jenes and Anthony not far behind as the rebels followed behind them. Dominic continued to remember his past. He remembered everything. Every life he didn’t live, every life he wished he did. He could name every animal in existence, and every flora too. He was everything, and yet one thing, one thing, had defeated countless infinities, he defeated everything. He thought back to what could so powerful. What could drive one beings to do the impossible. He found nonsense.
“ What is he?”

Dominic muttered.
“ Who is what?”

Jenes asked as she caught up to him. Dominic turned to her with broken eyes.
“ Sinclaire. What is he, Jenes? What is your brother?”
“ My brother was no saint. But he fought for what he believed in and he fought for what was right. My brother was not Sinclaire. It was Dante.”

Jenes responded. Dominic’s eyes lit up.
“ That is good to hear Jenes. Because I have a favour to ask of you.”

Jenes returned with a strange look, but quickly answered.
“ Anything Dues Qui.”

--------------------------------------------------

The trio of a Mercenary, wanderer, and a maid had been traveling for more than half a day now before hitting a fork in the road. Sinclaire reached in his pocket and revealed a coin. He proceeded to flip the coin and began walking down the left path.
“ Don’t you know the way Master Sinclaire?”

Shana asked. Sinclaire continued to walk, not looking back.
“ Nope, just the general direction.”
“ So we could be heading the wrong way?”
“ well, these both head north-west, don’t they?”
“ B-but one could lead us totally away from Junedicar!”
“ And then we’ll find some other place, we’ll just ask for directions.”

Sinclaired stated and walked on. Shana stood their with her mouth open and eyes wide. Hunter sighed as he walked past her.
“ He’s not listening. Right now he’s focused on something else.”

He told her. Shana looked at Sinclaire curiously.
“ And what would that be?”

She asked, but Hunter just stayed silent and continued walking. Shana could only wonder what she had gotten herself into. The trio stayed silent, nearing the shore and the cliffs the maid once again had to open her mouth.
“ You know Junedicar is inland, right? And this is kind of the shore so….”

She asked the mercenary.
“ Then we go with the second plan. Let’s head down the coastline.”

He said bluntly. The beach was long and winding and the cliffs eventually got higher. Eventually they could barely see the top of the cliff. Hunter scanned the edges.
“ I have a bad feeling about this Sinclaire.”
“ And justly so.”

A voice echoed from above them. The trio looked up to see the rebel leader’s head sticking over the cliff. Sinclaire cursed under his breath. He wondered how they knew they’d take this path, but before he could ask, Dominic continued.
“ Don’t worry Sinclaire, I won’t be your opponent for today!”

He shouted, extending his arm to point towards the sea. Standing in about half a mile out, upon the swirl and waves stood the blue lady. Her masamune had been drawn, she was looking to kill. Sinclaire’s head lowered.
“ You expect me to fight my own sister? YOU EXPECT ME TO FIGHT MY OWN FLESH AND BLOOD!?”

His bloody roar took flight up the towering cliffs. It words formed a mighty beast as it came to stand in front of the rebel leader, the God of Life, the bane of it’s existence. It knew who it wanted to be standing out at sea. So much it wanted to tear him limb from limb. Dominic swatted such a threat away. He knew it was empty. One thing can’t defeat everything, he assured himself.

Sinclaire. Would. Drown. This. Day.

Meanwhile at the bottom of the cliff Sinclaire began to step towards the sea. They were trapped, he had only one choice. A firm hand suddenly grasped his elbow. He turned his head to catch a glare from Hunter.
“ You DO realize that this is a trap within a trap, correct?”

He questioned. Sinclaire looked to the lapping water that now enveloped his boots. With a defiant jab from his shoulder he shook himself free.
“ Hunter……?”

Hunter remained silent. Simple. He thought to himself. Sinclaire was doing things the simple way. Hunter knew the high stakes of this battle. These two titans choose to clash at sea for the clear fact that it was the only place that wouldn’t be completely destroyed as they fought. But when it came down to it, fighting was just beating each other with sticks till one is left standing. It was simple. But there were better ways. There were always better ways. He gritted his teeth. Then Sinclaire turned to him. Then anger contained in him flowed away. Nothing could describe it other than pity replaced it. Not once before had he seen such pain, regret, and sorrow. And in this hardened mercenary of all people.
“ Who is she?”

He was compelled to ask. Sinclaire turned to her.
“ It’s my sister.”

He said simply before he began to walk towards the Blue Lady once more. Mana flowed gentle from his feet making it easy to walk on the water as it was land. Each step felt heavier and heavier as the weight in his chest grew larger. It felt as if it would haul him to the murky depths if he continued. Just as he felt he could take no more, he was finally near enough to Jenes to converse.
“ Don’t do this Jenes. You know I can’t kill my own sister.”
“ You mistake me, Sinclaire. You have no sister. You have no family. You have nothing but your own hatred.”

She hissed in return. Sinclaire’s eyes grew wide, then shrunk back in disappointment before returning to their normal apathetic lifelessness.
“ Indeed, I was mistaken. I thought myself someone else for a moment.”

The shackles that dragged him down moments before sank into the water below. Those pains of fighting someone you love was not his any longer, for now he fought a stranger.
“ Shall we begin?”

He asked courteously.

Another card fell on to the table. The total came to eleven now. The deck would empty soon enough.
“ Ohh, look at zis Alisha. If zis keeps up ve might need to move out prematurely.”

Blitz chuckled as he held the enchanted deck. It was light now, almost empty. Alisha stood in the door way and her ear’s twitched at her master’s words.
“ I- I know you’ve explained this once before Master Blitz, but I’m a tad blurry on the purpose of those cards.”

Blitz straightened his stance and clenched his fist.
“ You must zink of me a monster Alisha.”

He stated. The servant woman flinched as if these words hurt.
“ Why would I think you’re a monster? You gave life to me. And Soletta and Lunata too. I know we‘re different, but we have life, and a purpose. We owe you everything Master Blitz!”

The white clad man turned to her and smiled. In his normal regal fashion, Blitz ambled over to her and began patting her on her head. His fingers snaked around her cat ears before final touched on of her most sensitive spots. A feeling of pure delight before accidentally letting out a purr and covered her mouth in embarrassment.
“ I-I’m sorry master!”

Alisha exclaimed. A puzzled look crossed Blitz’s face before smiling.
“ Zere is no need for zat, mien dear. Ze fault ist all mien. Now please, I vish to be alone for a little vhile.”

He said before turning around and walking towards the window that stretched towards the infinite horizon. Alisha slipped out of the study without another word. As soon as she had slid the door close she collapsed against the door and buried herself in her knees.
“ W-why do I hurt you so much master?”

She sobbed why trying her best to keep her voice down. Tears began to soak her skirt as she continued to sink into despair. Meanwhile within the study Blitz continued to stare out his window.

“ I am a monster, Alisha. I continue to hurt you vithout reason or cause. I promise you zis world vill burn.”

-------------------------------

Sinclaire slid under the cleaving slash of Jenes and rolled back to his feet.
“ As dangerous up close as always, I see.”

He complimented her. She simply retorted with
“ So you’re just going to let me cut your head off then!?”

She shouted, attacking Sinclaire, only to have him dodge again. Suddenly a semi-translucent blade burst from the water beneath Jenes. Instinctively she pushed herself back, the blade still grazing her slightly. She stared wide eyed at Sinclaire, her breath heavy from almost being beheaded.
“ When did you-”
She asked before being cut off by Sinclaire.
“ Surprised? You really shouldn’t. This is our brother’s technique to assure you. I mastered it after his death. Along with a few others. But I‘m fondest of the dream daggers.”

Sinclaired smiled. A silence droned over them, even the sea slowed churning as the merely observed each other. He missed though. And that blade was definitely slower than anything Kain could muster. He’s just trying to keep me at a distance. But how many more does he have under the water? Jenes asked herself.
“ You know I was never aiming for your neck?”

Sinclaire interrupted Jenes’s train of thought.
“ You what…..?”
“ I wasn’t aiming for your neck.”

Something red suddenly fell over her eyes. Fucking head band! She though, ripping the thing away. She looked down and saw Sinclaire who had closed the gap between them in mere seconds. Jenes frantically slashed at him. Only to have him duck under the slash.
“ Think fast!”

He yelled as a string of dream daggers erupted from the water left of Jenes. They grinded against her masamune before reflecting and submerging back into the watery depths. Sinclaire waved his hand and another spray of swords exploded from her right, nearly taking off her head but just only grazing her.
“ Is that all Sinclaire? I would have expected you to be stronger.”

She asked, knowing that this was no where near her maxim. Sinclaire waved his hand.
“ Just how long do you think you can keep this up?”

He asked. The water around them began to glow as rows upon rows of blades began to rise out of the water. Jenes looked around in disbelief. There is no way I can dodge them all, she thought. Meanwhile back at shore Dominic continued to watch silently with the others.
“ Impressive no?”

Anthony asked with a admiring tone.
“ It is, even if they are still holding back.”
“ Really? I wonder how powerful those two really are then?”

Anthony responded to Dom’s remark. Anthony waited a response, but received none.
“ I don’t think either of them will win today.”

He said with a change in topic. He received a questionable look from the rebel leader.
“ Why’s that?”

He questioned, wondering what the Eon could possibly be thinking.
“ One, you pitted a brother and sister up against each other. No matter how much one another hates, they still are family. Two, monsters can’t kill humans. Humans kill monsters.”
“ You use the term monster too lightly Anthony. They don’t mindlessly kill for fun. They kill for a purpose. Even Sinclaire.”
“ Humans also don’t have that kind of power, Dom.”
“ Any human can have that kind if they have a reason too. It’s why I envy them. Now please, can‘t we just watch the fight in silence?”

Dominic asked.

Captain’s quarters
========================

“ Jesus Christ Captain, ya mind paying attention for five seconds?”
“ Not really.”
“ So you flew through a unknown hole based on pure intuition, brought us here to investigate a strange energy reading, and you’re gonna nap all day?”
“ I don’t trrrrrrrry to nap all day. I’m just so tired lately. Must be because I‘m getting old.”
“ With all due respect you’re only twenty nine, captain.”
“ Argh.”

The Captain and first mate bantered back and forth. The captain slung his legs up on his desk, sitting back in a relaxed position.
“ I can barely believe you. I hope It helps to know that repairs on your ‘baby’ are going slower than expected.”

The mate informed Vixil.
“ Jesus Christ……..”

Vix sighed, hopping out of his chair.
“ Let’s go for a walk, Glen.”

The young captain said to the first mate. The two left the head quarters, finally they reached the observation deck. Vixil placed a hand against the window as he gazed at the planet below.
“ Can I be honest with something, old friend?”

Vixil asked Glen.
“ Of course captain.”

He responded. Vixil continued to stare out the window as he leaned his head against the glass.
“ I actually kinda afraid of this mission.”
“ You? Afraid? Sir, excuse me for being sceptical, but you haven’t been scared once in your whole life.”
“ That isn’t true.”

Vixil murmured in response.
“ What was that, captain?”

The first mate, Glenn, asked curiously.
“ Nothing, but this is a whole universe we’re talking ‘bout Glenn. Not only are we risking our lives but the whole universe is at stake. And The best bit of news we’ve had yet is that the only information we have is a list of names and that the energy readings are increasing everyday. Everything is growing unstable.”

The captain explained is grieves to his first mate.
“ Well, sir, I think------”
“ JESUS CHRIST!”

Vixil shouted as he pressed himself against the observational deck’s window.
“ CALL THE PILOT DECK!”

Vixil shouted to Glenn. At the same time a blaring voice game over the intercom.
“ Captain, you might want to get up here.”

The female voice said in a monotone, but shocked voice.

1 mile off west coast of Titania
A few moments earlier
===========================

Jenes had grown accustomed to the blades flying at her one at a time. But despite that, it made them no more easier to dodge. They were quick, deadly, and dodging while standing on water, thanks to mana control, while the waves began to increase was making it difficult to continue the ever increasing game of cat and mouse. At this point Sinclaire was merely mocking her. If he sent all his swords at once he could easily impale her.
“ God damn you Sinclaire.”

Jenes dodged the next blade and began a mad dash at her opponent. The dodging was just tiring her out. ‘Pathetic’, she said to herself. ‘ You think I’d fall for such a simple plan?’ She continued. This time two blades came flying at her, both of which she easily twisted out of the way of. Sinclaire snapped his fingers and three more blades came zipping towards her. She slashed away the blades and they fell lifelessly into the water. ‘Excellent’ she thought as she neared her opponent now. This time three blades, then four blades, then five, six blades, seven blades! She looked around one last time to see if any were left. Jenes leaped into the air and at Sinclaire.
“ YOU BASTARD!”

She shouted before kicking off him and backflipping into the air. When she landed, she punched the water. The water around Jenes and Dante for miles was instant flash frozen. In the distance the ice could still be seen expanding rapidly. Sinclaire instantly planted himself to the ice while wiping a bit of blood from his lip.
“ Oh good, I was just getting bored.”

He said.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hunter stared deeply into the diamond like ice that has stopped mere inches from his face. Less than a second ago as he watched these two titans fight, a wave suddenly washed up and threatened to engulf him. And now this diamond structure bore not into him, but burrowed in his thoughts if the wave had came a few seconds earlier.
“ I’m going to die here.”
He said out loud without realizing.
“ I’m going to die watching these two fight. Instead of dieing in battle like a warrior, I’m going to die like a bystander.”
Hunter continued still fixated on the crystal ice that was in front of him. He began to back away slowly, but heard his companion, Shana.
“ Mr Alison!”
“ Shit.”
Hunter cursed. Glancing around he couldn’t see her.
“ Mr. Alison!’
A voice exclaimed again. Hunter could not see anyone about but knew it to be Shana’s voice. He yelled out to her, hoping for a respond. Again the voice squeaked.
“ I’m over here!”
It whined. Hunter knelled down realising where she was. Pressing his face down against the golden white sand he came face to face with her.
“ Hello.”
She blinked.
“ How you managed this……..”
Hunter trailed off, wondering how Shana got trapped in a small chamber beneath the wave that almost impaled him.
“ I’ll get you out in a moment.”
He said, removing his giant sword from the clasps that kept it to his back. Holding it behind his back, he revved the clutch, igniting the engine and in mere seconds the blade was super charged and vibrating at an extremely high speed. In a single swipe he cleared the ice that encaged Shana. She sprawled out onto the sand to stretch her cramped limps.
“ I need to learn better shield artes.”
She whined. Hunter on the other hand turned his attention back to the Sinclaire. ‘ Please, hurry up Sinclaire. Though it’s already become clear on who’s going to win.’ He said to himself.
Above the cliff
“ Impressive no?”
Anthony commented, waiting for response from his companion.
“ No, it’s wasteful. Not only did she just single handily destroy a ecosystem, but she destroyed the well-being of a hundred coastal towns and cities. Not to mention the long term effects on the world.”
Dominic frowned, crossing his arms at the sight. Anthony only grinned before sighing.
“ Anything for the cause. Or am I misquoting you? ”
He asked. Dominic remained silent, but Anthony knew it soured him having his own words used against him. The Eon decided to continue.
“ Well, if you must be that way, you can at least comment on her shear power. I mean if she was fighting at full strength I bet she could even give you a run for your money?”
Anthony smirked.
Off the coast
================
Three massive iceberg sized chucks flew at Sinclaire.
“ Have you gone full circle?”
He asked, knowing Jenes could not hear him. The ice collided against him. Two were blocked by the freshly sprouted wings from his back and the middle by his demonic arm that now glowed fiercely.
“Fuck!”
He cursed, realizing the force behind the titanic spears of ice was too great as he skidded across the now frozen ocean. Know that he would soon be crushed if this continued he slammed the gigantic pillars down while launching himself into the air. A great moan echoed across the frigid plane as the ice cracked and split as the glaciers slammed against the endless diamond surface. Icy spikes exploded from the impact, nearly impaling Sinclaire and forced him to land. He knew more would come and that the previous attack was just warning shots and if he stayed in the air, Jenes would not be so generous.
“ Grounded and surround by water while up against the most power water manipulator that ever existed. Lovely.”
He said sarcastically as his feet touched the ground.
“ Finally, decided to show your true form Sinclaire?”
Jenes questioned him as she paced towards him.
“ I’m pondering to myself the stupidity of what you just said. You know that this is my Adephagos form.”
Sinclaired stated clearly.
“ If you were Dante maybe. But you Sinclaire…….. You’re nothing but a monster and that form reflects what you are!”
“ I’m tired of this! Stop making up excuses Jenes! I‘m Dante! I‘m your brother! And I‘m your enemy! Grow up and face the truth! I expect at least that much……..”
Sinclaire shouted in response to Jenes. She stopped cold in her tracks.
“ You bastard. You know I can’t… I promised him…..”
“ Screw him Jenes. I’m not a kid anymore and I can bloody protect myself! I don’t need you to always watch over me, you did a pretty bad job at it anyway! So call me Sinclaire if it helps, but stop holding back and let’s end this fight!”
He shouted once more. Jenes found herself unable to look up at him.
“ I see……. Does this mean you hate me? Sin- Dante?”
A long pause ensured this question.
“ No, I don’t, Jenes. How could I hate my sister? But you have to understand, we stand on opposite sides of this pointless war.”
“ You’re right Dante. Thank you for helping me realize that.”
She smiled, looking up confidently to him, she reconfirmed her grip on her blade and readied herself. Sinclaire returned the smile and put himself into a fighting stance too.
“ Always a pleasure, Sis.”
“ Don’t think I’ll go easy on you because you called me that. You never call me Sis.”
The siblings bantered. Simultaneously the launched themselves at each other. Using the ice’s frictionless surface Sinclaire skate towards her, gaining a substantial amount of momentum in the process. Jenes prepared to swipe at him, with her twelve foot sword she easily had reach advantage. Just as the two swords were about to collide Sinclaire tossed his sword into the air, and slid to his knees, barely ducking under Jenes’s sword. Sliding onto his knees, Sinclaire caught his sword and swung at Jenes, who pivoted at the last second to block the blade.
Sinclaire in no way ever doubted Alara, his sword. He sooner expected himself to break before she did. And that was the thing, if he collided with Jenes at that speed, he probably would be broken in half by Jenes’s attack. Despite her slim figure, even without mana backing her swing she still was amazingly strong. Sinclaire pushed off her, jumping back a few feet. Just as he landed, a pillar of ice exploded beneath his feet, but with a flap of his wings he regained his footing. It was just in time to block another swing by Jenes. He gathered all his strength to stop himself from being flung back by the force that followed the connecting of metal.
“ Maybe I decided to start trying?”
He commented, leaning into his sword, trying to push Jenes back but to no avail.
“ Fat chance.”
His sister smirked playfully, placing her best hand on the hilt of her sword. With a simple flick of her wrist Sinclaire was sent rocketing across the crystal ice.
“ Fu-”
He cursed, but cut himself off as Jenes appeared over him. She buried both her feet into his chest, kicking him mercilessly into the solid plain. Sinclaire plummeted through the now diamond ocean like a fist through paper. He wasn’t exactly sure when he stopped but he was sure it was do to sprouts of sand he felt as she closed his hand into a fist. His adephagos powers were hard at work trying to reconstruct his broken body, but till then he was completely paralyzed. Sinclaire looked down at his clawed arm to see the light beginning to dim. While in this form he could regenerate any wound he sustained, but his time in this form was far from infinite. After his wounds had healed, he estimated another fifteen minutes before it wore out completely. Then……. Well, saying that he wouldn’t stand a chance was an understatement of his current predicament, let alone when he’d have to fight Jenes without his Adephagos powers. Jenes was better than himself in everyway, even in there younger days she’d always out due him. She’d never admit though that she had never won a game of the minds against him. And that’s where his victory lay. Jenes was far from stupid, her intelligence laid well above many of the simpletons that inhabited their home. Her real weakness was her hubris. Even now she probably was on the surface, believing that she had won and that she needed to tone it down.
“……. And that, is what I can use to my advantage.”
Dante smirked as his ignited in flames. With a snap of his wings, he exploded to the surface in a pillar of flames.
“ Decided to finally put up a challenge?”
Jenes asked, whisking the flames away from her as the red moster licked and danced across the diamond ice. Sinclaire hovered in the middle of the inferno, meeting eye to eye with Jenes.
“ This could probably impressive a child, Dante. But such a weak flame does not work on me.”
Jenes scoffed, raising her sword a twirled it above her head. The ice behind her began to crack and burst. A massive hand exploded from the cracks, followed by another, and then a head. The golem heaved itself out of the hole and onto it’s feet.
“ Is that honestly all you have left, Jenes?”
Sinclaire scoffed as the flames around him rouse. The golem bellowed before charging at it’s counter part. The fire suddenly died down and grew four legs. It leaped at the ice monster, going viciously for the tiny neck like a wild animal. The two creatures melted away into water and splashed across the ice. The water washed over Jenes and Sinclaire before draining away into the various holes that punctured the ice around them.
“ So you want to play like that? Fine allow me to show you the voraciousness of water!”
Jenes shouted before stabbing her sword into the ice. It absorbed into the ice and vanished as if never existing in the first place. Sinclaire rolled to the side just as a geyser of boiling hot water exploded beneath him. Another blast punched through the ice below him just as Sinclaire landed and he jumped back again. A few freckles of the water drops hit his face, they seared the skin instantly. Sinclaire grabbed the side of his face the water splashed. He growled lowly as he turned to Jenes. His eyes suddenly grew wide as he look turned to that of disbelieve. Jenes was gone.
“ Where the hell could she have……”
He turned back to the two geysers, both of which had not stopped yet. And then the ice began to tremble. Sinclaired rolled to the side as a massive blast of water engulfed the geysers. In an explosion of wind, Sinclaire took to the air to assess what was going on. When he reached the top of the ever flowing tower of water he cursed under his breath as he saw what it was. The liquid serpent creature hissed at the hovering mercenary. The creature despite being made of water was hot enough to melt the ice around it, only adding to the it’s mass. It suddenly dove towards him but was stopped in it’s tracks by a giant version of Sinclaire’s claw.
“ Good night, Jenes!”
Sinclaire shouted as a pulse of electricity was sent through the snake.
“ Is that all you have?”
Jenes asked, rising out of the serpent that remained unharmed from the attack.
“ I never expected that attack to work. I do however expect this to! TERABOLT”
He responded as a lightning bolt emerged from the sky and struck the water serpent.
“ TRY HARDER!”
Jenes shouted, swatting the bolt that surge down the serpent towards her. Suddenly Sinclaire dived out of the sky and grabbed her, dragging her towards the empty sea bed that was now exposed due to the melting of the ice because of the boiling serpent. They fell towards the bottom at an amazing speed.
“ What the hell are you doing Dante!”
Jenes hissed, stabbing her sword through Sinclaire’s wing and ripping it out, making it unusable. The snake above them grew unstable and began to collapse above them.
" I'm winning. what does it look like?"
Sinclaire smirked. With the earth below them and boiling hot water above them Jenes could not think of anything but to hug her brother.
“ I’m sorry Dante.”
~~~~~~~~

As the water splashed onto the ground it rose once more in the form of a tsunami, the monstrous wave sped towards Hunter.
“ I…… I……..”

Hunter muttered as a sharp pain filled his head. A ominous blue aura began to over take his body.
“ Mr. Alison?”

Shana asked. Hunter just looked blankly up to the wave.
“ I…….. I REFUSE TO DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!”
