"Vids?" I asked, a bit dumbfounded. "I mean, I heard it's really difficult."

"Really now? Well, you sound like you're a cautious smarty pants. Why don't you show me how hard it is?" I yawned, rolling my eyes towards the cool air. It was sunset at this point. It would probably be a FANTASTIC idea to get some food before it became dark.

"I heard it was difficult!" I said. "It's not like I've ever been hunting before." I said. I looked at the ground. "And I don't think there's any game in this area... I mean, this is a pretty uninhabited area..."

"By humans. See around here? Woods. Woods most likely mean little critters, right? Such a city emo boy." I sighed, handing him the stick. "Geez give it a shot at least, and prove your so called facts."

"What the heck does that mean?" I asked, a little irritated by the emo comment. I took the stick. "Hey... I can't do anything with this... I don't even know how to hunt!!"

"Stop whining and hunt. I made the tent and fire. The least you can do is hunt. We gotta do our share right? Or you can find berries which probably don't exist in this climate."

"What the heck!?" I practically shouted. "I didn't even ask for this..." I looked around for a minute... Hey... Is that... I walked over to a bush and looked at it. "If the book I read is right... These mushrooms."

In the meantime I rested in the makeshift tent. It was rather warm, having the fire right beside me. I hummed towards the fire, waiting patiently... or rather impatiently. I wanted some meat.

I was a bit irked by her humming. I threw a mushroom at her. I'd heard the mushrooms that grew at the base of this type of bush tasted like filet, but I'd only thrown it out of irritation.

~

"Ow! What the hell!?" The kid was beginning to piss me off. Why did he tag along again? WHY DID I OFFER?

I jumped up and ran in the direction of the projectile. Yes, the mushroom shall be considered a projectile. Either way, the next thing that BRAT knew was a giant tackle, knocking all the mushrooms over. The next next thing he knew was... well me sitting on top of him.

"Wanna do that again, punk?" I seethed. "I'm about had it with you! Why not act your age?"

~

"Why not act yours!?" I snapped back. "You're the one acting like a spoiled little kid!" I squirmed for a bit to no avail. "Get off of me!"

~

"No. And would a spoiled little kid go to soup kitchens and beg for some dough huh? And live on the streets while all the stupid fuckers walk around with plenty of money and entertainment!?" I shouted, infuriated at this point as I lifted a fist. I swung down... only to punch the ground.

"If you wanna try to insult me again, go for it. This time I won't miss."

~

I don't care what she says, that is how she's acting! I thought, struggling a bit more, until I finally got her off. I stood up. "You've done nothing but make my life miserable ever since this morning!!" I shouted.

~

"You ungrateful piece of shit!" I stamped my foot in retaliation. How dare he!? What the hell is his snobby little problem!?

"I tried to help your ass, but you know what? Go back home. Either that or you're walking the next forty miles on your own. Fucking little snobby punk, that's what you are." I grimaced as I walked over to him. I was so tempted to kick him, beat him... anything, but I just wouldn't allow that.

"Leave then, you whineass."

~

"Grr... Why'd you run off back there!?" I said. "You could have gotten this! At the very least you could have gotten plenty of rewards! But all you did was go run off! I had to deal with this stuff I didn't want! They didn't give me a choice! And then you decide to drag me out here and make me go for food! What the hell is your problem!?"

I huffed a bit, red in the face. After a moment of silence, I heard a crack. "Huh?" I said, turning. "What... The... FUCK is that?" I shouted, falling on my rear.

In front of me was what looked like a faceless crimson man in black armor holding a longsword in one hand and a scythe in the other.

"Friend of yours?" I asked Erin, my face now a pasty white instead of rosy red.

~

"Nah, not that I know of. Not every day you see a creepy guy," I responded helplessly.

I didn't know what to think... or do for that matter. Who was this creep? And I wanted the last word to the argument!!!

AUGH!!

"WHO ARE YOU!?"

~

"I am here... For the God of War..." The person said.

"Huh?" I gasped. "Hey... Erin... That's probably you..." I said, despite the person being right next to me. "I've never killed anyone in my life..."

~

"Newsflash. He said God. Do I look male to you?" I cried out pointing at him. "Augh, Mister freak! Take him! Shape him up and make him less whiney and lemme outta it!!!" I shoved the boy in front of me.

~

I fell over. "That's not fair! There's more than one 'God of War' I said. "It's a title! Not an indication of grammar! And I'm not a destroyer of everything!" I shouted, shrinking back just as the scythe swung for my head. "AHH!!" I shouted, ducking. I ran behind her, and the thing approached her.

"Resist and die, assist the God of War and die." It said, raising the scythe to swing at her.

~

"HEY!" I ducked and dodged the swing, thanking God that I was able to keep it attached.

"What do we do? I don't even know what the guy's talking about!? Assist and die? Oh come on! I say hightail it!!!" I cried as I ran full speed ahead around the demonic looking ass.

~

As she avoided it, the creature turned to me. "Resist and die, assist the God of War and die." It repeated.

"Dammit!" I shouted, getting up and running with her. I rolled under it, and it swung.

I winced as my blood splattered out on the ground. I kept running.

"What... Is... That... Thing..." I wheezed.

~

"I don't know! Damn! Hurry up, will ya!?" I shouted, stopping for a second. I then grunted, realizing I was probably a moron. I ran back to him and began to push him ahead. "Come on." I lowered my voice. "We have to keep running or we're through."

~

"I... Can't keep this up..." I said. I fell over by a plot device gorge and slipped in, rolling down until I stopped in the middle of a bunch of bushes. "Ung... Ah..." I groaned.

~

"Ugh. Why kid? Why?" I hesitated to drop down the gorge, but seeing that thing made me jump anyways. I skidded down the slope, trying to keep my grip. Using my hands was probably the only thing that prevented me from falling to my death. Eventually reaching Rayner, I sighed. "Are you alright?"

~

"I'm... Fine..." I said. I looked up and saw the knight approaching. NO! I thought.

But it turned around. The bushed had obscured us from its sight. I breathed a sigh of relief. "It's gone..."

~

"Phew... just what the heck was that?" I glanced over as I began to inspect Rayner for wounds.

"I don't know..." I said. The wound on my arm was black, and I probably had a broken wrist from the fall. "Maybe he was a Crusader..." I said. "OW!" I winced from throbbing pain.

~

I laughed. "Calm down, will ya? Want me to carry you?"

~

"What's so funny?" I asked, extending my right hand. "I can walk. It's just my other wrist. Not that you care..." I muttered.

~

"Augh, fine, then I won't care. I just figured since you were battered and bruised that I would give you a little hand. But nope, you can climb the entire way yourself you snotty brat." I spat, disgusted all over again. Fine, see if he can last on his own.

~

"That's not fair!!!" I shouted, getting up weakly. "You got me into this, at the very least help me out!" I doubted that she cared, but I would die if left there. "Erin... Please..." I said rather pathetically, though not intentional.

~

"You got yourself into this. You could have lived comfortably and in glory. Don't blame me for your actions..." I stared down at him for a few moments and sighed. "I... alright do you want my help? Or are you going to complain?"

~

"Um... I do want your help, but..." I said. "Um... Do you want me to be completely honest?"

~

"Call me a bitch. Tell me you don't really want it but since I'm the only person around here you need my help!" I rolled my eyes.

~

"Actually... I'm probably gonna keep complaining. It's kinda how I get through my life without dying of boredom..." I said, blushing a little.

~

"...What." I turned around, raising a brow. "How the hell...?" I couldn't understand this kid any longer. Pretty much I gotta LET him whine? Nu uh. No way.

"I can't stand it, in all honesty. So we gotta compromise. Whining really doesn't suit anyone at anytime. So why the HELL would it solve your boredom problem?" I sighed, kicking a rock over the gorge.

~

"Umm... Well, it's an outlet..." I said. I was still blushing a little. Suddenly, the ground under me shifted. "AH!" I exclaimed as the bush started to give way, leaving me with no support. That's it? I'm going to die here? Was what I thought as my eyes grew wide.

~

By then I reached out and grabbed hold of his hurt wrist, not that I didn't mean it or anything. On instinct, I tugged. "H-hang on!!" I cried out as I attempted to pull him up onto safe ground.

"You still have some whining to do!" I couldn't help but laugh at the comment, though it caused my grip to slip slightly. In an instant I gained my seriousness back and tugged harder.

~

"AH! OW!!! OWWW!!!!" I screamed in pain. Tears came to my eyes as she tugged on my arm, but I was out of the ravine. "What the hell!?" I asked, cradling my hand. I noticed that the cut from the scythe was black and not bleeding, but the pain on my wrist was a bigger issue for me.

~

"I tried, geez. Show some thanks or something. Would you rather me have dropped you?" I growled.

~

"It... Really hurts..." I said while wincing. "It's broken... I think that could make it worse..."

I thought back to a few minutes before when we saw that thing. It was looking for a God of War... But there's no way it could be me... I looked at Erin, a slight sorrow in my eyes. "That... Was it really a Crusader?" I asked softly.

~

A Crusader?

I scoffed.

"Hey, what are you talking about? A Crusader?"

~

"They're the... Umm... Enemies of the Gods of War... I heard when a God of War rests, they take a human form. The Crusaders are like... The worlds peacekeepers. A God of War can only be killed when they're in a human body... At least that's what I read..." I said. I looked around. Night had fallen. "It's cold..."

~

"So why would he go after us...?" I shook my head. "Yeah, you're right. Let's go back to the fire. Probably burned out... actually... where are we?"

I looked around. "I don't see it... I don't see the path either." I said. I looked up to the sky. We must have taken much more time than I had thought, because I couldn't see any sign of smoke from the fire.

"Damn... don't tell me we're lost..." I groaned as I noticed a small crevice in between the gorge.

"Wanna rest there for now?"

"I guess... Better than being stuck out here, I suppose..." I mumbled the last part. I started walking towards the cave. "So... Why were you homeless, anyways?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh the cliche lost parents crap. Died in some accident. Doesn't really matter. No one would take me in." I rolled my eyes, slight annoyed by the question.

"What do you mean by that? It was when I was a kid, sheesh. Getting a bit too nosy there, aren't you?" I sneered, not liking this at all.

"I don't know..." I sat down and sighed. "I wonder if that guy really was..." I started, but then stopped.

I looked at the black mark on my arm. "How did this happen?" I asked myself.

"That's stupid..." I said. "I mean... Did that guy hit you at all?" I asked. I then showed her my hand. It, unlike the cut on my arm, was swollen and bleeding a little. "I think it was just that guy's weapon."

"Um... suuuure... believe what you want." I smirked as I continued my way. "Admit it. You're the cliche hero where something happens to him to gain powers and then you save the world! So cool!"

"Um... Didn't you listen?" I asked. "Gods of War DESTROY the world, not save it." I said. "And I'm not really hero material or anything like that. And even if I were, what makes you think I'd want it?"

"Donno. You may be forced. Heh, if you were, then I'd have to stop you then, won't I? Sorry, but ain't letting you kill anyone. Unless it's the blasted government."

"It's not like I want to do that either!!" I said. "And even if I were a God of War, how the heck could a normal person stop one anyways?"

"I'm just bored of waiting," I sighed, sitting down as I closed my eyes.

"Weird adventure so far. And to think I just wanted a job."

"I thought we were here to get some sleep..." I said dully.

I closed my eyes. I didn't want any of this though... Like I'm a passenger in my own life... And tied down too...
