"WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

It was late evening. The moon blanketed the darkness, shining upon a small house. It was wooden, nothing special. Inside this wooden house contained the standard furnished setting; a fireplace, couch, two small chairs, a dining room containing a table and chairs... basically just a regular home.

It was a rather chilly night, pitched into the sheet of winter. Of course, that was why the fireplace existed.

It was warm, comfortable...

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

A cry sounded. Not the cry of a wolf, or a sheep... but the cry of a baby. Yes, born under the midst of the obsidian night was a small child.

A couple resided in this home. One male, one female.

The female was lying between a comforter and the mattress of a small bed, cradling the baby in her arms. The male wrapped his arm around the woman, his mouth and eyes in awe as he gazed at the small child. A bin of water was at the couple's feet, filled with a crimson color.

"Elvira, look at her..." The man breathed as he stroked the baby's cheek with a rough finger.

"Isn't she beautiful...?" The woman known as Elvira smiled, nuzzling the child.

"Yes she is, my love."

"So what should we name her, David?" Elvira asked as the man placed a finger to his chin. "Hm... something simple yet... profound... how about Cheska?"

"Cheska... Cheska Lucia Light?"

"Perfect..."

It was a regular day. Actually six months had passed, and all seemed well for the family. David and Elvira cared for little Cheska with as much love any parent could offer. Over time... they noticed a special ability...

"Cheska...?" Elvira called out one morning as the child was sitting, glancing at a book. She seemed very indepth with it, her eyes peering through the pictures. The book, surprisingly was even right side up!

"Hm... David?"

"Yes, dear?" David called as he placed wood into the stove.

"Our baby... it's like she's reading a book!" The woman smiled.

"She sure is trying hard, huh?" David smiled back as he wrapped an arm around his wife. They stood there watching Cheska for a few moments, at ease.

"Well, time to have some supper, hm?" David finally asked as he removed his arm and walked over to Cheska, picking her up and walking to the kitchen. Elvira gladly followed...

Another few days pass... It was the same routine, but the family was content and joyous...

Night marked the sky as the couple sat in their warm home, keeping Cheska entertained. During this time a knock was heard. David stood and trudged over to the door, opening it.

"Hell...?"

BANG!!!

Elvira let out a soft cry as she saw her husband fall forward into a pool of blood...

His blood.

She then let out a scream as two masked men with brightly colored wings neared her. That's when another sound was heard.

Cheska was sobbing at the time, bewildered with the situation.

"Well, well... a human baby huh...? Maybe we should kill her along with the woman..."

"Nah, I have a better idea... let's consider it our prize... you know take her to Serenity and get paid!"

"Sounds pretty good to me... but what about the woman..."

"Let's have our fun... then kill her."

"No... no..." Elvira trembled, clenching her daughter close to her heart... The men near her...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(Man I feel like I'm a roll today)

"WAaaaah!!! Waaaaaahhh!!!!" Little Cheska sobbed as she was carried to a tidy room. It was unclear as to where she was... it was dim.

Both men with wings knelt down, one of them holding out the baby. An older woman stood before them, glancing at the girl.

"A gift, my lady. We found her alone as we scouted the humans..."

"Did you now?" The woman placed a hand to the baby's cheek. The child slowly ceased her crying, now only glancing up at the woman. She looked to be in her middle ages, her eyes as blue as the sky and her hair golden as silver strands wiggled themselves within.

"Yes, Lady Serenity."

Carefully Serenity took the child into her arms.

"Dismissed... I want a report by the end of the day."

"Ma'am!" Both men left the area. Serenity calmly brought Cheska to her bosom as the child cooed, her eyes curious and wandering.

"Hm... I wonder what your name is, child... A pity you were left... Hm?" That's when she noticed a few stitches in the baby's clothing.

"Cheska... Well, I am pleased to meet you, little one. ...I think we should set you up with a couple of guardians to watch over you. I'm sure they could do much better than I at this moment."

*****

Days merge to months, to years...

Cheska was brought to a homely angelus couple named Sherice and James upon the Dyecroft. They were a couple in their thirties who had experience before in caring for a child, though the child was angelus.

However, they realized Cheska was no different than an angelus, except the wings and lifespan.

The girl's growth also began to make noticeable changes...

She began to walk at age two, a little later than most children...

Her hand-eye coordination also was slowly developing... she couldn't handle any utensils until the age of three or play sports until the age of six...

She couldn't even run until her fifth year of life...

...Why?

Her adoptive parents worried over her. Yet, in relation to this problem of balance...

She began speaking decently at the age of one. Her reading and writing skills also developed at a rapid pace, earning her recognition throughout the area. She was incredibly intelligent for her youth...

So much that it was enough to catch the attention of scientists.

Thus these people began to knock upon the door, demanding for the child. The angelus parents obviously refused. "Why should we give up this child for your evil deeds?" Sherice constantly asked as each scientist sighed.

"This human child may prove to be of more worth to us than you would think... her maturity levels are incredibly high... do you know what this means? One with a genius potential!!! We need her!!!"

"NO, now leave here at once or I shall call authority!!" James cried out.

"So be it. But we shall obtain her sooner or later..." The scientist declared with a viceful smirk, leaving the premises.

"Cheska... you will have to be strong in the future for your sake..." Sherice mumbled once the everything quieted...

Knock knock knock...

Sherice quietly opened the door. "Yes?" She answered before she fell to the ground. A syringe was raised above her, having inserted into her dainty neck a moment before. Long white coats...

And dangerous smirks. These two qualities marked the demons known as the scientists...

"Sherice!" James shouted after hearing a thump. He ran to the scene only to find himself hit behind the neck. Immediately he fell to the ground.

"I told you I would obtain that child... whether you wished for it or not." One of the men laughed as he sent his men rushing around the home to find Cheska.

Soon enough they did find her, sleeping soundly in the crib. They quickly snatched her up but not forcefully enough to wake her, and fled the home...

*****

"Well well... this... this indeed interesting... hehehe... no one... no one has this much a brain compacity! Men... we have a genius within our grasp... a revelation!" A laugh echoed the halls of the lab upon the Dyecroft.

"Sir? What do you wish to do with the child?" A female scientist walked up to him, adjusting her glasses.

"Insert a fonic chip to monitor her growth... something tells me her brain is not only the surprise..."

"Sir." The woman smiled.

It was evening when the adoptive parents of Cheska came to...

"Cheska! They didn't..." Sherise cried as she ran upstairs...

Surely enough she was sleeping in her crib.

"What did... they do?"

Three... four... five...

Six... seven... eight...

Time seems to fly by, does it not?

Indeed Cheska's mind developed rapidly, surpassing all of the scientists' expectations. Her growth was absolutely normal, but her balance was rather... diminished.

At the age of nine she was often tripping upon her feet as she ran, falling face first into the ground and beginning to cry... it did not take long for the girl to recover and cease the tears. She kept on moving. She was always told by her adoptive mother to stay strong and to never let anything pull her down.

Especially the other angelus.

She was in school... Though it was one of the more painful struggles of her life. It was during the war after all... and to conceal her identity was almost impossible.

...

"Hey, why don't ya get up and fly!?" One of the children shouted as Cheska found her face upon the ground once more. It was at school during the recreational period and the angelus were having a joyful time.

Except for poor Cheska.

"I... I can't unseal my wings!" She called out with utter disbelief. She knew it was a lie. She never had wings to begin with... she was human.

"Who can't unseal their wings? Don't you even have mana!?" The boy laughed, hovering in the air.

"N-no..." She lowered her head, her soft brown eyes focused upon the ground.

"You don't even have mana!? That's even lower than the stupid humans!!!!"

"HUMANS AREN'T STUPID!!!" Cheska shouted as she stood tall, glaring at the angelus boy. He smirked as he flew forward at the girl, pushing her into the ground with abnormal strength. Cheska let out a small cry as she struggled.

"You two calm down!" One of the instructors cried out as the boy lifted into the air and fled.

"Haha... stupid girl..." He smirked.

"Are you okay...?" The woman walked to Cheska after the boy had left. Cheska still lied upon the ground sobbing as she nodded.

"Come with me. We'll get you cleaned up." The teacher offered her hand...

...and Cheska took it.

That evening Cheska vowed to become stronger and gain an advantage using her intelligence... to prove that humans are worth being on this planet.

(Okay since you guys cannot even attempt to complete a story... I will >.>)

Nine, ten...

Eleven, twelve...

Thirteen...

Cheska grew at a normal pace, yet her mind...

It was in the middle of the school year. The young girl eventually tolerated her peers and the surroundings, knowing she was only a human with no mana. Yet, she knew she gained a skill no one else had obtained.

Her intelligence led her quite far in her school years, despite her being constantly teased. She paid no mind... until the school life began to dissipate in her mind. She walked up to her parents, one day, and announced, "Mom... Dad, I have no interest in school."

"But why Cheska?" Her mother was astonished by the girl's statement. An intelligent girl, not wishing to attend class?

"Because... I'm bored with school."

"Bored?"

"Yes... I'm going to try something else... I want... I want to become a researcher!" That's when the angelus glanced at Cheska with a turn of her head.

"Why do you wish to become a researcher, dear?"

Cheska frowned for a moment, finding the exact words. She had planned this exact moment for quite sometime now, but even so it was a little more difficult to actually experience it than run it through one's head repeatedly.

"I... I'm sick and tired of being around the kids, who say humans can't do anything. But... we can! I can! I want to prove it to them! I want to also save the people from this war!! That disease... that disease that everyone's been talking about... that some angelus die from... I want to cure that and be known! I want to prove that humans are just as capable of anything as the angelus!!!" Cheska vehemently cried out.

And thus began a new goal...
