This is one of my most recent stories one I actually FINISHED but never got back to editing or fixing up ends. Hell I'm already working on Part 2 (or book 2 as some may call it) even though that's going rather slow. I'll post up Part 1 pieces every now and then and you can let me know. I don't plan on editing for a while but if someone really wants to let me know. All this stuff is copyright 2008 to Kieo and can't be used without my permission Anyways here its is Elemental Stars Part 1: Beginning Prologue In a world where the elements rule order isn’t strong. Wars start, monsters attack, and there are many other threats. To bring the Great War to an end a council was formed. The council was known as the Elemental Guard. The Elemental Guard originally consisted of one representative from each elemental nation and his or her subordinates. Time passed and the Guard as their called decided to change some of its ways. So the Eleven Guards were formed, each with its own captain, his second hand, and his other subordinates. The Guard attempt to maintain peace throughout the land. Even so hundreds to thousands of recruits attempt to join the Guard. Many pass and are entered through the Elemental Academy to earn their way into one of the Eleven Guard Squads. But with as many who pass even more fail and are sent home. The headquarters of the Elemental Guard is on an island out of reach from any of the elemental kingdoms. The recruits’ mission is to pass through all of the obstacles and make it to the base of the Guard. There alliances and enemies are made as they attempt to join into one of the great titles throughout the world… |

1 Journal Date Galeday 15/Solar/707: It was the date I have been waiting for, for a long time, the day in which I set off to join the Elemental Guard. I woke up earlier than usual and head downstairs, already baking the morning’s bread. They tried to teach me how but I never picked up on the real technique to boring. My dad smiles at me and throws me a warm roll. I quickly catch it and eat it. “You’re up earlier than usual Zeke,” my mom said as if she didn’t know what was happening. “I’m going to Gramps to pick something up. I’ll be back soon to pack the rest of my stuff,” I said pulling the door open. The walk to my grandfather’s house and dojo wasn’t that far but at this early in the morning it felt like a marathon. I didn’t bother to knock when I finally made it to his house for some reason it seemed like he was always awake. I pulled the door open quickly and stepped inside. Just seeing my grandparents sitting there drinking their tea made me smile. “What do you want boy?” my grandfather asked as I walked over to their small table. “You said you had some stuff for me. So I had to get up early and walk all the way over here,” I sighed sitting down. My grandparents believed in the older manner, so they didn’t have chairs they made us sit down on the ground to eat. “Quite teasing Zeke, Anthony it’s his last day in the village. Here have some tea Zeke. By the way your mom and I have been preparing something for you as well. I’ll go get it now,” my grandmother said pouring me tea then walking out of the room. “You’re growing up boy take care of yourself while on the road. I’m not entrusting you with my prized sword until you finally are ready but I’ll give you a strong one both your father and I used. Not to mention some other weapons you might be good with,” my grandfather said drinking his tea. “You’re showing compassion after all these years Gramps. I don’t think I’m leaving anymore, to much work,” I said sipping the tea my grandmother had imported. “That’s your problem boy you’re always to lazy. Shape up and take action like a man, that’s the reason I call you boy all the time you still act like one,” my grandfather grunted as he got up. “You still call Dad boy at times and you said that I should look to you and him as big men that I should admire and try to become, more you then him though,” I said as my grandmother came in. “Don’t listen to your grandpa you’re a man in all of our eyes,” she said carrying in a box which had wrapping paper covering it. “No he’s right I still haven’t come to age yet and until then I’m not truly a man, to much work anyways,” I said as she handed me the box. “Don’t worry I’ll know when you’re a man and you’re not one until I say so,” he said walking out of the room. I looked at my grandma for a while and we both laughed. I opened the present slowly to find a new outfit. I grabbed it out of its box and gave a slight smile. I was smiling way too much on this day, odd isn’t it? My grandma grabbed the rest of it and led me to the room I slept in, in case I didn’t feel like staying home. She closed the door behind me so I could have privacy. I took my normal everyday village clothes off and began to put my new ones on. My new clothes included orange and black pants which felt comfortably. There was a matching over shirt which I used as a jacket since it zipped up. My mom and grandma both knew about my habit of pulling my sleeves up so they made it so it wouldn’t damage the jacket if I did so. Under the jacket I wore my usual maroon sleeveless shirt. They had even given me new boots. I examined myself in the mirror; my burning red hair was messy how I liked it. I then looked deep into my dull blue eyes which looked just like my mom’s. Afterwards I sighed and then opened the door. “Grams please don’t cry, it’s a happy day,” I said as she rushed to hug me. “It’s not that it’s that you look so wonderful like that. I might great grandchildren soon,” she said with a teasing smile. “That’s not funny,” I said putting my arm around her and leading her back to the main room. “Now that you’re done playing dress up here’s your gift from your grandfather,” grandpa said showing several items on the table. “Some of this stuff looks brand new,” I said examining the weapons. “Just don’t break them alright. We’ve got your normal knives, throwing knives, ninja stars, I couldn’t get you a chain scythe but you can do without them. But let’s not forget this beauty, this is one of my favorite katanas make good use of her alright boy,” grandpa said as I picked up the sword. “Thanks old man,” I said gathering everything in a bag I had brought with me. I quickly strapped the katana to my belt. It didn’t feel like extra weight it just felt like something that should be on my body. “It looks good on you boy, not as good as it was on me or your father but still good. Come your parents and the others should be waiting,” grandpa said. We slowly walked out of the house. I took one last look into the house and saw the strange dagger above the fireplace. I always got a weird feeling whenever I saw that dagger; it was strange compared to other daggers. Gramps isn’t a fast or as strong as he used to be and Grams has gotten used to moving at his speed. Grams kept her arm around my waist as we walked down the street to the village entrance. When we got there after a slow marathon there were over ten people waiting. In the very front of the crowd were my parents both smiling, both with something in hand. “The outfit your mom made you does add more of an appeal to you. It even takes off some of the lazy effect. Here these were mine,” my dad said handing me one of the things he was carrying. “Thanks. Are these those gloves I’ve heard about?” I asked as I put the black fingerless gloves on then tied the red headband around my forehead it had a metal plate with the symbols of my village, my family, and my own personal symbol. “It has a little control power but not that much. You didn’t notice the symbol of our family on your back did you?” my dad said looking at me. “Nope but its fine I don’t care,” I sighed. “Then you liked the outfit good, your grandma and I have been working on that for a while. Here are some pouches to keep the extra weapons your grandpa gave you,” my mom said handing me pouches which I tied to my leg and belt. “Here’s your bag with food, money, and anything else you might need. Make us proud kid,” my dad said handing me a backpack. “Yeah show the Elemental Guard that, the Corso boy isn’t the only family from our village that has spunk,” my grandpa said. “Right thanks for coming everyone,” I said as I shook hands, hugged, and kissed the crowd goodbye. Then the only ones left was my family, my parents and grandparents. My grandma hugged me for the longest time, then my mom did the same, it felt like a shocking eternity until they both let go. My grandpa came up to me and shook my hand goodbye; I even got a half hug out of him. Then I shook hands and hugged my dad goodbye. After that I turned my back and walked out of the village gates. I would make all of them proud. I also wanted to show that my family was just as good as the Corso family. No matter how much work it seemed like I kept walking down the path. I didn’t turn back because I knew what was going on. All of them were waving and my grandma and mom were most likely crying. So I didn’t turn back and kept walking into the woods until my village seemed to be on a completely different planet. -Zeke My Journal Day: Aquaday 18/Solar/707 It’s Aquaday and the day that I finally start towards Guard Isle. I all last night packing but now I’m finally ready. The first thing I did when I got up today was go straight to a dinner for breakfast. As soon as I finished breakfast I started to walk home. Growing up in a wind village you’d expect everyone to find walking absolute but I guess not. I walked into my house to be greeted by my younger sister. She then began to jabber on about how exciting it is to have a brother who’s joining the Guard. As I walked up the stairs I opened the room to my door. My little sister followed behind saying she’d be one of the coolest kids in her class. She got annoying but I actually felt like I might miss her. I looked around and couldn’t find my discus or any of my other tools. “K, what did you do with my tools?” I asked. “Hmm let me see I didn’t do anything but I thought the cat how to catch with the old discus you gave me. Maybe the cat took it or Shae took them or mom or dad or…” she said but I put my hand over her mouth before she could finish. “K where’s mom and dad?” I asked. “Work,” she said quickly I asked in a puzzled tone. “Yeah work.” “But they normally don’t work on Aquaday. Aren’t they going to see me off? Crud,” I said stomping out of my room, “Shae where’s mom and dad? K says work.” “Come back later I’m sleeping,” Shae said. She always sleeps until lunch time. “No get up I want to leave soon! Get up and help me find them!” I exclaimed pulling the covers from over her. “Fine I’m up! I’ll get changed and we can go sheesh!” she said as she got out of bed. “Can I come?” Kam asked. Just hurry up,” I grunted going back downstairs. An hour passed and my sisters finally came downstairs. When the two were finally ready my mom and dad came in through the front door. “Where have the two of you been?!” I exclaimed as they walked into the living room. “Don’t yell we were just getting some stuff for our only son who’s leaving today after all. It’s a special day, I even decided to wait in line for something,” dad said. That’s when I noticed they were both carrying bags. “Why does Garr get presents when it's not his birthday and we don’t? Forget Shae why don’t I get presents, I want presents!” K yelled and stomped upstairs. “Don’t worry about her Garr we’ll handle it later. Now are those really the clothes you’re going to use when you present yourself to the Elemental Guard? I think there’s something on your bed right now,” my mom said with a smile. I just sat there on a chair for a few seconds. “Garr go upstairs and see what’s on your bed! Take a hint,” Shae yelled at me. Our family seemed to yell or get angry at each other a lot. It’s normal after some time I guess. I walked up the stairs and finally into my room. There on my bed there were some fresh new clothes laid out. By them Kam was smiling. It had all been an act, she had gotten the clothes from my parents or something then set them on my bed. “Leave so I can change,” I said. “Alright I still want to know why you get all of these presents. I’ll go and join the Guard one day so I can get all of these presents,” she mumbled as she left the room. I quickly took off my normal clothes and put my new ones on. A green sleeveless undershirt, dark blue pants, and a tan and green short sleeve shirt which I put on and didn’t button up. To add there were new boots and these weird arm braces which experience fighters used. There was something missing from my new clothes a personal touch. That’s when I saw the family emblem on the sleeves and back of my shirt. It was good but I still needed something else. That’s when I noticed some extra details about my new clothes. The pants came with pocket pouches and on the sides they had something sticking out. After some thinking I knew what they were for and smiled. Then as I moved the wrapping from the clothes I saw something that resembled a headband. I never wore headbands the right way but this one was like it was made for me. It had a metal plate where there was the symbol of the village, my family’s symbol, and even my own personal symbol. I tied the band to my left arm and looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. I gave my dirty brown hair a shake to reveal my eyes. My hair got so long that it covered them at times. I crossed my arms and gave myself a smile. K was the only person in the family who hadn’t inherited my dad’s hazelnut eyes. I left the bathroom and went downstairs. Everyone was sitting on the couch as if it were a normal day again. I wasn’t paying attention and ran into an envelope. I opened it to see a letter inside. “To find everything you will need you must go on a hunt. On your quest you’ll need provisions finally made by your dear mother where can you find these…” I read out loud. “Can I help?” K said springing to her feet. “No,” I said going to the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator to find my grey backpack in there with all of my stuff. Taped to the front of the pack was another envelope. “Your tools are good but when close you might need help. The storage should have what you need,” I read. From the kitchen I opened a door into the storage room. There under a small sword in its sheath. I took it and pulled the envelope off of it. I never fought up close without using wind powers but as a provision this would be great. I strapped it to the back of my belt so I could draw it quickly but it was somewhat hidden. “It’s almost time to say goodbye but you’re still missing your true tool. If you study hard you might find it. I don’t have time to study, or right the study,” I said leaving the storage room. Everyone was watching me as I passed them. I walked into my dad’s study to find a pair of chakrams or as I like to call them discuses. I picked them up and examined them. They didn’t have any sharp points or anything. There was the final envelope. “You’ve finished your search but the journey has just begun. Master these chakrams for a head start on the competition they won’t expect the surprise. Now it’s time to say goodbye. WE LOVE YOU GARR!” I read out loud. I walked out of the room and to the exit of my house. Everyone was gone. I looked at the envelope again and it said go to the gates. I did as it said to find all of my classmates, friends, neighbors, and my family there waiting for me. I ran quickly towards them and began to thank everyone for everything. They even had a banner saying ‘Go Get Them Garr’ and ‘Do Us Proud’. I finished all the goodbyes even to my family. Then I grabbed one of my favorite toys, my land glider. I opened the sail and got on the board. “Garr those braces will help you with your wind powers. But you’ve got to figure out how to work the chakrams,” my dad said. “Roger,” I said as I cast wind into the sail. Soon my land glider was inches off of the ground and I was zooming away from my village. I had to go down the mountain, through the forest, then eventually make by the sea Guard Isle. There had been other people from my village who had attempted this and a couple came back with great disappointment. I wasn’t going to be one of them I was going to be a hero. -Garr Diary Day Groundday-Galeday 13-15/Solar/707: I’m leaving for Guard Isle. I love the pampered life but I want to get stronger and prove that I’m not just a princess. So today I’ve decided to leave. After endless hours of convincing my parents they finally allowed me to go. It’s a great day to be me. Like most days I went in for my lessons. Master was happy to here that my parents decided to let me go. She went through some final lessons which she said I would definitely need. She said I hadn’t officially graduated his training but that I was still one of her brightest pupils ever! After the days extensive lessons Master gave me a list of stuff I might need. Master bid me farewell and said she’d see me off. So I went home later than usual on that Groundday and had dinner with mother and father. So the next day, Solarday, we had school off so all of my friends and I went out shopping. My parents said for me to buy what was necessary which pretty much meant whatever I wanted. But I was actually serious about shopping this time. We went to the big mall in town where they sold everything. I didn’t even know they had some of the stores we went to. The first thing on the list was clothes better suited for fighting with. So we went through every clothes store there until I found the perfect outfit. It looks so cute on me! I’ve got black gloves which Master said would be good. A type of elbow protector, which is a tanish color, it’s in case I fall so I don’t hurt my elbows to much. I got new black thigh highs which don’t go over my knee but are still good. Their black so the gloves aren’t my only black item. Then theirs those black shorts which are kind of tight but good for moving, they’re above my knees. I got a mail shirt to keep under my normal one just in case. Over my net shirt I’ve got a sort of sleeveless dress which zips up on the front. Their fashioned in a way that when they go to my waist it cuts off and there’s a part sticking out in the front and the back, which kind of hides my shorts since it goes down to about my knees but that’s alright. Oh did I mention that their red and have some white too, my favorites, even if theirs no pink! Another thing on the list was some medical ingredients most of which I’ll get from mom, dad, and Master but still I got some other medical stuff. Master also told me I’d be getting a new puppet doll but it’s alright because she’d give me that. So after I finished my shopping my friends and I hung out at the mall. I got to a store where my friends shop for formal clothes and I got a chance to look in the mirror. My new clothes really make my greenish eyes stand out and the over shirt dress makes my pink hair look even cuter! After the mall we all went to my house for a surprise going away dinner my parents were having for me. It was so great! Even Master went. After dinner I went straight to bed. The maids prepared my pack for the next day since I planned to leave early. My parents wanted to have a grand breakfast as my going away but I just had something light so it wouldn’t slow me down on the road. At the village gates there were banners everywhere wishing me good luck. Everyone who knew me had come to see me leave. Amongst the large group that was waiting, in the very middle, stood my Master. She was standing there with my pinkish backpack; the maids had given it to her last night so she could prepare some stuff for me. She smiled at me as I walked up to her. “You’ve grown up quite a lot since you first became my apprentice. You still probably still can’t defeat me but this might teach you something good. Here are some parting gifts. Your pack has many good medicines and plants for healing and other purposes. An old sword that I used, it looks old but is still great for fighting. And my final gift a puppet doll. You’ll know how to use it I trust you. Also there are some other tools in your pack. Take good care Lady Kaitlin,” Master said handing me everything. “You called me Lady. But you only call Lady Sopi, Lady, and she’s your number one,” I said in surprise. “I’ve always said you’d amount to something. You’re still my apprentice, but now you’re my second under Sopi. Take care Kait,” she said. “Thanks Master,” I said tears starting to well up. I made my way through the crowd and said my final goodbye. Then I began to walk through the woods. Eventually the noise of the village disappeared and I was alone in the wild. I looked at the staff and felt strong power. As I focused on it a little soon it became the exact same size as my doll puppet. Then I saw that the doll had a place for me to strap the staff to it. Then I took the doll puppet and tied it around my waist. I looked through my pack for a while and tied a knife to my leg so it was quick to draw. I left the other things for some other time as I swung my bag over my shoulders. As I did so a headband with a metal plate fell out, it had the symbols of my village, my family, and Master Lu’s. It was custom to give out headbands to those joining the Guard, since everyone was required to have on. I used it to keep the hair some of the extra hair out of my eyes. “I’m going to prove that I can be just as good as Master Lu, beautiful, smart, and strong. I’m not just a spoiled brat who always gets her ways. I’ll prove it to all that don’t believe,” I said. On another note the maids showed the same symbols onto the back of my shirt which is also a custom. Also forgot to add Master Lu gave me a weird necklace thing. It’s a pink flower bud that has a weird gem on the bottom. I think it’s another good luck charm or present. -Kait Journal Day Sandday 17/Solar/707 So I finally got my dad to stop caring enough to let me go to Guard Isle. I decided that even if I don’t pay attention in class there’s a chance that I still might be able to make it in. I am just as good as anyone else in class I’m just not good at the academic stuff. I spent all of yesterday gathering whatever I needed. But when I got up this morning everything, I mean everything was gone. I scanned the room and found one small hand print on my door. That one hand print explained everything, my little brother. I jumped up out of bed and looked at myself in the mirror. I hate all of his little stunts. The first thing I ever see in the morning is my mirror image. The first images I saw were dark black hair and black eyes all pretty common in my village. The second things I see are the motivational posters my dad pins in my room to encourage me to ‘study harder’ and all the other stuff I suck at. He’s even put pictures of dropouts and stuff. I wonder what he’ll do to my room once I’m out of here. I looked around and by the coat hanger I saw some new clothes. There was a note saying ‘From Dad, With Love’. They were too high for my little brother to reach so he hadn’t bothered to get them. I took my pajamas off and slowly changed into my new clothes. It was a dark blue vest which I didn’t zip up; the vest had two pockets and some other accessories. Under it I had a black sleeveless shirt. I put on the dark blue pants and examined myself in the mirror. Not bad, but it did make me feel like I was a juvenile delinquent but it was fine I guess. I opened my slightly open door and walked out of my room. There were wet footprints on the ground. I was a professional tracker, my brother was leading me into a trap, or he was really dumb. I followed the footprints downstairs and out of the house. Then around the house then back into the house again. I spat quickly on the ground and began to run. I finally found him hiding up in a tree. “Get down here!” I barked. “No I stay up here,” he said taunting me. “We’re did you do with my stuff, don’t make me force you down I want to leave soon,” I said getting in a stance. “I hid, I no come down,” he said spitting on my head. That pushed me too far. And I spun kick the tree so hard it began to shake. He began to wobble in place but kept stayed where he was. I brought forth the water that was splashed on the ground after last night’s rain and blasted the tree. My brother fell to the ground but I grabbed him before he hit the ground. “What did you do with my stuff you brat?” I said holding his arms back. “Daddy took them, Haze let go,” he said as I let go. I went inside the house to find my dad sitting in the kitchen. He had some things laid out on the table. He gave a smile as I came in and sat down at the counter. On the table there were two arm braces, greaves, two arm blades, my backpack, some other tools, and a metal plated headband with some symbols on it. “When do you plan on leaving?” he asked. “As soon as I’m done packing which will be soon,” I said. “Well here’s some everything I think you’ll need. These greaves will be good for your kicking style. The braces will help you use your water element more. The arm swords you’ll strap to your arm. I got them special so that there’s something for you to hold on to and a blade guard so you can punch as well. Let's not forget the traditional headband. I’ve finished packing for you,” he said as I grabbed everything. I quickly strapped the greaves to my shins. I then put the braces on to see they had a type of guard so that the arm blades wouldn’t hurt me if it went against me. It was like the arm blades fit perfectly into the braces when I tried to put them on. The handle with the bladed guard moved so that I could use it as an actual sword. That also became a convenience so that it was easier to work with the sword. I took the sword, which was almost exactly like the arm blade’s blade, after examining it I strapped it to my belt on the back. I put the other tools into the backpack and threw it over my shoulder. I then tied the headband loosely around my neck. “The same symbols are on the back of your vest as well,” dad said. “I’m going then. You going to see me off or should I just take a cab,” I said playfully. “I’ve got to take your brother to school since you’re not going to be here and I’ve got work. But I’ll walk you to the gate. It’s not that far and it’s not everyday your son goes off to join the Elemental Guard,” dad said as he grabbed my little brother. We began our walk towards the gate. Rusty, my little brother, wanted to go and play in the mud but my dad stopped him. At the gate they both hugged me and kissed me goodbye. They wished me good luck and kept walking. I gave a soft smile. “Alright now it’s time to go see the world. Let’s have some fun and maybe hit a casino,” I joked as I walked out of the village. I walked along the edge of the lake, which the village was on, for a mile or two. I followed the map even though I wasn’t good with maps. I wanted to prove myself and joining the Elemental Guard was just the way to do it. -Haze Diary Day: Moonday 19/Solar/707 I can’t wait anymore! I’m joining the Guard no matter what my parents say! Last night I packed all of my supplies and I’m set to leave early in the morning. I’ll leave them a note, I’m sure after I’m gone they’ll understand. I looked at my clock past midnight. I should get some rest. I finished writing the letter as well. I opened the door from my room and walked downstairs slowly. I couldn’t make to much noise or I might wake them up. I set the letter down on the table. Then second thoughts started to fill my head. All recruits had to be at the set location by noon on the last day of Solar. I had eleven days to get to Guard Isle. I went back upstairs and closed my door. I looked in the mirror. I had reasons to go I wanted to be one of the Elemental Guard to show all of those other girly girls that I can fight and do it better than any of them or than any of the ‘I’m so tough boys’. I pulled the ribbon that held my hair up in a big bun. My hair fell down gently to my shoulders. Maybe I did act too much like a guy at times. It’s not late now I thought. I lay down on my bed and turned the light off. I staid up for a few minutes when I thought I heard noise. But soon enough I was asleep. I was asleep for a few hours but I woke up when my alarm clock went off. I sprang up and crushed it with my fist. My eyes suddenly welled up with tears and they quickly flowed down my face. On my desk there was a note and new clothes. They knew, and they cared. It hurt them to let me go like this but now I’m positive. I cleared my eyes quickly, had they planned this the entire time? Maybe it was just a way of getting me not to go, no they would never do that. I took my pajamas off and put on my new clothes. I put the mail shirt on. Then I zipped up a tan jacket which also had a hood. I grabbed the blue pants and pulled them up tightening them with a belt. I always liked my clothes simpler than everyone else. I put on new boots as well. The back of my new jacket were the symbols of my village, my family, my own personal, and my master's symbols all combined in a certain way. I cleared my eyes and looked at myself again. I needed to take more care of it; maybe keeping it up in a bun isn’t the best thing. My eyes were a light brown just like everyone else in my family. I grabbed the rest of my supplies including my backpack. I opened my door and walked downstairs quietly. I opened the front door and bid my home farewell. As I walked down the quiet street I grabbed a ribbon my mom had once given me. She had always wanted me to do this but I was always against it, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt. I pulled my hair out of its bun again and tied it back in a ponytail. I gave a smile and kept walking. Just as I reached the village gate I remembered something. “I didn’t bring any of my weapons. They were all in storage! If I go back my parents will wake up for sure. Then they might want me to stay,” I said with a defeated tone. I kept walking thinking that I could find a store in some other village. Then when I reached the gate I saw to people standing there. “Mom is that you?! D…dad?! You came to see me off,” I said running up to them. “We could never miss our only daughter going off,” my dad said. “I see you liked the clothes and finally decided to put your hair in a ponytail. Good for you,” mom said. “You left somethings at the house,” my dad said pulling out a bag. He pulled out my axe, greaves, and other tools. I strapped the greaves to my shins. I took my backpack off and strapped the axe to my back. My dad handed me a small sword almost the size of a knife which I strapped to my belt. I put the other tools in my backpack which I through over my shoulder. My dad grabbed the axe and showed me a special area to use my earth powers which shrunk the axe. To my amazement the handle became about the size of my sword and the blades retracted into the handle somehow. My mom then handed me the traditional metal plated headband. I smiled and tied it around my waist. I hugged both of them and they hugged me as well. After what seemed like an eternity that I didn’t want to end we broke apart. I gave one last good bye and ran through the woods. “Make us proud, Jenna,” my parents called out. “I will you can count on it,” I said rubbing the tears out of my eyes as I kept running. -Jenna |

2 Many miles from Guard Isle there is a small port town. This isn’t one of the most well known ports especially if you’re trying to get a boat to Guard Isle. Even so those who are close by or just choose to go this way come to Port Journey. On a small hill a boy with fiery red hair and orange and black clothes lays on the ground staring up at the clouds. He closes his eyes for a moment but suddenly open as a girl dressed mainly in pink and black walks up to him. “Um excuse me. I’m lost is this Port Journey and if it is where can I find an inn?” she asked. “Yeah this is Port Journey. Also there’s an inn in town,” he said gazing up at her with a dull look. “Well I don’t know the area very well. I’m from Forestra could you show me the way? By the way I’m Kaitlin, Kait for short,” Kait said looking at the sea. “Forestra’s a long way from here. What brings you here? I’ll show you the inn I guess even though I’m not from around. I’m Zeke Uchen from the village of Rofel. Nice to meet you Kait,” Zeke said jumping to his feet. “I’ve heard of that village, so you’re a user of fire. Oh and I’m Kaitlin Mesoi, I’m a user of plant. I’m here to try to join the Elemental Guard. I figure you’re doing the same since this isn’t the greatest vacation spot,” Kait says as they began to walk. “Yeah town was boring and this annoying kid from my village is attempting to. He thinks he’s better than everyone else so I guess that’s one reason why I’m here. I’ve just been kicking back I just got here today,” Zeke said as the small buildings got closer. They walked around town talking for a while. They talked until they came to a building slightly bigger building than the others. Zeke pulled one of the sliding doors opened. “Thanks how about we make dinner plans here’s my number you can call me later alright bye,” she said as she walked up to the reception desk. “I would if I could but I don’t have a phone. Great I don’t feel like walking back so where to now,” Zeke said shoving the paper into his pocket. After a warm shower and a warm meal Kait went outside to explore the town. She walked around until she finally came to the harbor. She waked over to an older looking man dressed like a sailor. “Excuse me sir, but is there a boat that leaves for Guard Isle soon?” she asked. “Less than a week for me there’s one leaving now. A boy ‘bout your age came earlier and asked the same thing. Boy decided to stay a while longer. Now unless you plan on buying something go on your way,” the sailor said. “Fine excuse me,” she said as she walked back to town. She walked around town then went back to the area where she had met Zeke. She walked into the woods looking for something to do when she saw a boy sitting by a tree. Curiously she walked over to the boy. “What are you doing here?” she asked. “Huh, wow this is one heck of a mirage,” he said looking up from his map. “I’m not mirage I’m a real person,” Kait said frowning. “Oh really then that means there’s a village nearby. Please tell me it’s Port Journey,” the boy said springing to his feet. “Yeah it’s less than a mile away from here. So who are you and what brings you to Journey?” Kait said curiously examining the boy. “Oh sorry I forgot. I’m Haze Esfan from the village of Wenfrom; I’m here to join the Elemental Guard. I came to Port Journey for a boat,” Haze said sticking a hand out. “Twist of fate! I’m Kait Mesoi from Forestra and I’m here to join as well. I met another guy who looked kind of lazy a few hours back. He’s going to Guard Isle as well. Come on Haze I’ll take you back to town,” Kait said as she began to walk ahead. “Another guy, joining the Guard, I’ve got competition,” Haze said following her. “Well lots of people join. There’s a small boat leaving later this week which is the last one until next recruitment I guess we’re all lucky,” she said taking her gloves off. “Yeah thanks if you could show me to a cheap inn that’d be great,” Haze said crumbling his map into a paper wad. “Hey you guys could you answer a question for me?” a girl said running towards them as they left the woods. “Sure why not,” Kait said stopping. “You two are here to join the Guard right?” the girl asked as they both nodded, “then can we fight quickly. I want to see how I stack to the competition.” “I’m tired,” Haze said quickly wanting to avoid a fight. “Yeah I just got here I really don’t want to fight right now either. Maybe on the island,” Kait said. “Fine, so are you two together or what?” she asked as she walked along with them. “Nope I just met him. I’m Kait Mesoi from Forestra, and this is Haze Esfan from Wenfrom. Who’re you?” Kait asked looking at the lake. “I’m Jenna Brende from Boldra. I wield the power of earth and hoping to get in the Guard,” Jenna said looking at Haze and Kait. “Twist of fate!” Kait said. “Not really it is one of the last days,” Jenna said as Kait’s mode suddenly dropped. “I guess so,” Kait said sadly. “There aren’t that many people left I’m guessing,” Haze said. “Yeah, no one ever comes here and the rest left an hour ago. We’re probably what are left,” Jenna said. “There’s this other boy I met who wields fire, his name was Zeke. He didn’t leave yet and he had plenty of time,” Kait said. “Either he’s truly lazy or I don’t know what,” Jenna said as they opened the door to the inn. “Ah you just keep bringing me customers. Even with the rest leaving you still bring me more. That boy from earlier brought another one in as well. You sure you don’t want a job,” the manager said as they walked in. “Anyone else left that you know of?” Jenna asked. “From what I know five now, here’s your room keys,” the manager said with a smile. The three went upstairs and got their own rooms. Kait rested in her room for some time as the other two did the same. Later that they the three went downstairs to find a place to eat. “Why are all of you following me around?” Kait asked pulled her phone out of her pack. “Well we kind of figured you knew the town,” Haze said. “That reminds me I should call Zeke…he never gave me his number, that stinks. I want pastries let’s go have dumplings for dinner,” Kait said as her moods quickly changed. “Wow she’s very perky,” Jenna whispered to Haze. “Yeah I guess so. Kait there’s a dumpling and tea house let’s go there,” Haze said. “Yeah let’s go,” Kait said walking to the small restaurant. The entire restaurant didn’t have any doors so they just walked in. They sat down at a table as a waiter came to take their orders. There was a noise slight noise as two boys came into the restaurant. The two stood there for a second and the other three looked up at them. “Zeke, hey guys that’s Zeke that’s I was talking about. Come you and your friend sit with us we’ve got room. Haze go sit by Jenna and make room for Zeke and his friend. The waiter is already here so you can order already,” Kait said. The two joined the other three. The new arrivals ordered their food. Kait gave a smile and looked at Zeke’s companion. “Alright I’ll ask the question, who are you?” Jenna said. “Oh right I’m sorry. I’m Garr Cartro from Gustru, I wield wind. As you can guess I’m here to join the Guard. I met Zeke here around town and he showed me to the inn,” Garr said. “It seems that’s how we’ve all met going to the inn or something of the sort,” Haze said as their food arrived. Then there was a quiet over the table as everyone began to eat. Then after a few bites of dumplings and some sips of tea conversations began. The first questions were about why they wanted to join the Elemental Guard and eventually became about villages. One hour, many dumplings, and many cups of tea later they began to return to the inn. “Wow, I haven’t seen you guys fight but I can feel it, we’d make one heck of a group,” Garr said eating one of the last dumplings. “That’s a thing they set you up in eventually. You join a big squad and you’re set into cells where you work with a team,” Jenna said grabbing some pebbles. “That is if we get in and make it into the same squad,” Haze said. “I don’t really think about stuff that far ahead, I’m just focusing on getting a boat there first,” Zeke said as a small flame appeared on the tip of his index finger. “The ship leaves tomorrow afternoon right?” Kait asked. “Yep I checked before we came here,” Garr said as they entered the inn. “Then let’s meet at the dock before anything else. Well good night everyone,” Haze said going into his room. “Zeke where are you going I thought your room was right here?” Jenna said opening her door. “Yeah, I’m going on the balcony to check on some stuff, I might have to send a letter,” Zeke said climbing another flight of stairs. The next day went by quickly. They had eaten breakfast and lunch separately. At two the five were all at the dock waiting. Zeke was the last one to arrive. He walked over and raised a hand quietly. “Sorry I’m late. Got caught up with something else,” Zeke said walking on the pier. “Sailor Reid agreed to take us; he’s preparing the ship now. Says we’ll be there tomorrow,” Jenna said rejoining the group. “Great,” Haze said as they walked to the boat. “Hello there, I’m Sailor Reid and I’ll be taking you to Guard Isle. You’ll need to help on board and all,” Reid said as they boarded the boat. Soon the mast was lowered and the boat set off into the sea. Several hours of chores passed until they finally got to rest. “So do you think you will actually become part of the Guard?” Reid asked. “Yeah,” Kait said quickly, “Garr, Haze how about you guys speed us up with your wind and water powers.” “That’s a good idea,” Haze said clapping his hands together. “No, absolutely cannot. That’s part of the rules of going to Guard Isle, this is a standard boat for sailing there,” Reid said quickly. “Hey all hands on deck or whatever the line is, there’s a storm coming this way soon,” Zeke said looking at the sky. “How do you know your element contributes nothing to the weather?” Jenna asked. “Well the heat wave does but I didn’t pay attention to that. If you ask our wind and water friends feel the signs I’m sure they’ll agree with me,” Zeke said still lying down on a lawn chair. “He’s right the wind patterns are really messed up. It’s a thunderstorm,” Garr said jumping up on the main sail. “Yeah the water’s getting unsettled I guess I never paid attention in class so I’m betting this is right. There’s also a weird motion that’s very rapid…a whirlpool!” Haze said as he made so of the water rise from the sea so he could touch it. “This is part of the trial. You’ve got to use your abilities to make it through this storm. By the way we’ve just entered the storm and we’ve got a hole down below,” Reid said maintaining the general direction of the boat. Just as quickly as Zeke had announced it they were surrounded in the storm. Rain was beating down on all of them, the wind blew hard against the boat in random directions, and the huge waves beat against the boat and into the boat. The group was scrambling around the boat trying to figure out what was happening. Zeke climbed up onto the higher part of the boat. Nobody noticed him until he yelled at them. “Hey everyone shut up and quit moving around! All of your running around and yelling is almost as annoying as the storm!” Zeke yelled. “Guys whirlpool twelve o’ clock,” Haze said as in the distance they saw a whirlpool. “There’s no way we can avoid it at this point,” Garr said feeling the air. “Right I got it. Look the lower deck is filling up with water that’s something we’ve got to take care of. Garr jump into the water and go towards the whirlpool. Make a whirlwind in the opposite direction of the whirlpool and make them join it should cancel it out. Haze you’ve got multiple jobs, keep the water from entering the boat and at least try to decrease the force of the waves or we’ll have more holes. Jenna dive down as well and bring as much dirt as possible to block the hole, I’ll dry it with fire to try to prevent more water from entering. Meanwhile Kait will be gathering the water with her plants or anything you can do. It’d be great if you had some plants which rapidly absorb water. I’ll be helping her by using a type of fire which I’ll only use to evaporate the water on the deck. Also we need to lower the masts so they don’t rip or else we’ll need to patch it up. That’s another job for you Haze push the boat forward without very much damage,” Zeke said so calmly it seemed like a normal situation. The rest of the group was stunned for a second then gave a careful nod. Garr jumped off of the boat and used his wind power to push him farther until he disappeared under water. Haze and Jenna jumped down off the same side of the boat and disappeared under the waves. Jenna and Zeke opened the door and soon went under the deck. As they went down they found themselves almost knee high in water. The hole on the left side of the boat kept pouring water in, but soon the force of the water weakened. Jenna quickly pulled a small pouch out and threw many seeds into the pools. The tips of her fingers gave off a green light as plants began to appear. Zeke’s left hand began to glow as well and soon fire began to spew from it. And as the water made contact the water evaporated. The fire from Zeke’s hand seemed to weaken at one point but he continued. Garr pushed himself closer to the whirlpool using a boost from his wind powers. When he got close he began to form a whirlwind in his hand. He made sure that the whirlwind was going in the opposite direction of the whirlpool. Garr threw the whirlpool and enlarged it to about the size of the whirlpool. It wasn’t as fast as the whirlpool so he had to focus even more energy to make his spin faster. Jenna couldn’t see the bottom of the sea so she had to force dirt to rise without knowing where it was. Her hands started to glow a brownish color as she slightly raised them. Eventually a giant ball of dirt finally appeared in front of her. Soon she began to swim up to the boat while keeping the dirt above her. Haze was there attempting to keep the water out of the boat. Jenna flung her arms forward as the dirt plugged the hole. She kept the dirt in place until she saw that it had begun to harden. She pulled the excess dir away and dropped it to the bottom of the sea as she rose up for air. Haze followed her up and forced water to rise from under her and onto the ship. Haze soon followed her and was on the deck again. Haze focused his energy and attempted to weaken the waves. Jenna nodded to him and ran to where Zeke and Kait were. She took the excess dirt from the inside of the ship and threw it all over the floor for it to soak up the water. As she did this Zeke waked over to the stairs and sat down. Garr had finally made the second whirlpool big and fast enough with the help of Haze’s water powers. And with their combined power they made the two whirlpools collide and soon they began to negate each other. Gar quickly rose out of the water and pushed himself out of the water and back onto the boat. Soon the door opened and tons of dried dirt came through the door. As it moved in midair Jenna emerged behind it. She swung her arms and the dirt flew overboard and sunk into the depths of the sea. At this point the sky had become clear and the moon and stars were shining. Kait and Zeke slowly came up after Jenna. Reid who had been keeping the ship on course smiled at them. “Congratulations. You passed your first trial the next will be on the island. See I’m actually an Elemental Guard myself; I’ve been made as one of the proctors. We’ll reach Guard Isle in the morning, you’ve been through a lot so get some sleep you’ll need it,” Reid said. “Are you really?” Kait asked. “That’s amazing an actual Elemental Guard’s been here with us the entire time,” Garr said. “Yes, yes now get some sleep there should me some lofts for all of you downstairs,” Reid said as everyone but Zeke went downstairs, “Zeke aren’t you going to sleep. Trust me you’ll need your rest?” “I’m fine, I’m sleeping on the look out much calmer and a nice view of the stars and stuff,” Zeke said climbing the ladder. “Alright then, I’ve got a few letters to send for them to be expecting you for sure. You guys could have just said so and we’d head back immediately,” Reid said grabbing some paper and a pen. Zeke got on top of the look out and laid down using his hands as pillows. He looked up at the stars and soon fell asleep. Reid quickly wrote two letters and tied one to a falcon and the other to a raven. He told each bird something different and they took off. One flew in the direction they were going the other in a northwest direction. The next day everyone woke up around the same time. They found the dirt hole was gone and reattached with wood. The deck was mainly dry by the time they sat down for breakfast. Reid told him that they would be arriving at Guard Isle within the hour so they all began to prepare the things. A few hours before noon they arrived on Guard Isle. “As you can see we aren’t using one of the four ports here on Guard Isle. The reason is that you have to make it as a team to The Stadium without a true sense of direction. I will give you a map and show you where The Stadium is, you’ll have to figure out how to get there. It is only a map of the island so there’s no way to tell exactly where you are. Normally most of the area is guarded but this time around we’re keeping the guarding at a minimum so clues aren’t given out,” Reid said pulling a scroll out of his bag. “But we know that Port Journey is southeast of here so we’re on the southwest area,” Garr said. “Not necessarily, during the storm and during the night I changed courses and now you’re at a random location. On another note there still might be other recruits throughout the area which can either help or take out the competition which is you. Also there is a spell over the Storeto which means that you won't be able to see it so that area won’t be given away to you because of a spell I cast on you. Final thing be careful not to die on your way to The Stadium, its position is indicated on the map good luck,” Reid said handing Zeke the map. Reid got back in his boat and soon began to sail away. Zeke twirled the map in his hands then handed it to Kait. She looked in surprise at it then handed it to Jenna. Jenna gave a sigh and finally opened the seal the map had. She set it down on the ground and they gathered around it to see what they had to do. “The Stadium’s pretty much in the center,” Haze pointed out. “So we’ve got a better chance of just walking straight in a diagonal way and we’ll eventually find it,” Garr said. “Sounds too easy,” Jenna said examining the map. “That’s perfectly fine with me,” Zeke said closing and opening his fist. “She’s right, too easy for something that seems kind of difficult,” Kait said fixing her puppet. “That’s true as well. Maybe they set it up so that going straight towards the thing is more difficult than going the other ways,” Haze suggested. “Yeah then we’ve got to take the time to try to figure out where we are how to get there on an easy route and so on. I say go with what we know,” Zeke said lying down on the soft sand. “There’s no point in waiting any longer. There’s about four days until the end of the start of the recruitment,” Garr said. “But if there are only three days then maybe we should find a different route,” Jenna said with a bit harsher tone. “It’s probably more obstacles and stuff in the way but let’s get moving,” Kait said jumping to her feet. “About time let’s hurry up and go,” Zeke said getting up as well. They spent the entire day walking only stopping for meals. The group spent the night in a clearing they found and took turns keeping watch. The next two days were spent in this same manner. The obstacles were some cliffs and large blockades which they moved around with minimum problems. The forests throughout the area weren’t as thick as some they had seen before but perfect for hiding. On the fourth day they came to the entrance of The Stadium. The Stadium had giant steel doors guarded by two men. Both of them wore matching black clothes similar to those of samurais and had swords strapped to their sides. They wore weird hats which looked more like rags on their heads. As the group got closer they saw that they were the traditional headband. “We’re here to enter,” Garr said cleaning some of the dirt off of his clothes. “You’re just in time. You’ve got one hour until the official opening ceremony starts,” said the first guard. “Just go straight and theirs an entry desk,” said the second as both of them opened the door. They gave a sigh of relief as they walked into stone and metal room. There were many decorations and different things throughout the room. They walked straight until they came to a big counter with three women in clothes resembling the guards behind them. “Welcome, you’re just in time. Please fill out these applications one for each person please,” one of the receptionists said. Each person in the group grabbed an application, a keyboard, and a pen. They quickly filled everything out and gave it to the receptionist. She gave them a smile and began to copy it into a master schedule. “Alright Mr. Zeke Uchen of Rofel, please stare into the camera and thank you. Here’s your ID. By the way we’ve got another boy here from Rofel, perhaps you know him,” the receptionist said handing him a small card. As Zeke walked away everyone else saw that he seemed tenser. After Zeke everyone got called up and they got an ID with their pictures on it. They went to a café where they got food and drinks. By the time they finished eating all of the recruits were being called into the arena. There were many recruits anywhere from one hundred to two hundred. They stood in lines behind each other looking at a balcony. There were cameras with live broadcasts all over the world. Around all of the recruits were hundreds of Elemental Guards and families who had come as well. In front of all of the recruits was a large podium with many people standing on it. All of them wearing the black samurai uniform but about half of them had a gold coat over their normal clothes. The recruits were told to stand at attention and present themselves proudly to their superiors. Then one of them who were in the center of the stands walked forward. “Welcome all recruits. This is one of the most important things in your life. Not all of you will pass even if you win your matches. Who determines who passes is us your peers. Up until fifth seat everyone’s vote towards those who passes counts as one. Fifth counts as two, fourth three, third four. Then commander counts as seven and captains count as ten. You will all be pitted in five versus five. The votes can be determined for any reason but I can assure most of them will be with skills. Your IDs will gain you access to most areas of The Stadium. As I speak your names are being placed into your fights. This will not be a tournament just a fight to prove yourself. When you’re not fighting you may stay at your gate stands where you’ll be able to watch. During your fights anything goes although I strongly suggest not killing your opponents since that’s not taken lightly. You will be placed with a device which will determine when you’ve been defeated. Don’t worry about having a set amount of power it will be a base of your own power which the device will determine. The arena will change each round. It will be made so that all element users can have some type of boost. Meaning there will be rivers, forests, and so on. Except it will fit into this arena and leave plenty of room for fighting. Now recruits return to the lobby. There you’ll be given a letter and a number which determine your fight. The number is the round you participate in and the letter is the gate. Good luck to all of you, we await to see you in battle,” the captain said. The captain stood back with the others as the recruits gave a nod. The recruits were than sent out of the battle area. As they walked out part of the Elemental Guards came up to each one handing them two slips of paper. They were then made to go to their gates before they could talk to anyone. Garr walked along the area he was sent to. He couldn’t find any of his other companions as they walked into the stands. He sat down with the other people in his gate. He looked at his number slip to see that he had a good wait ahead of him. In front of him there were two boys about his age talking. Garr decided to overhear them since there was no fighting yet and he was bored. “So I hear that boy from your village is here as well,” said one of them. He had dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes. “I don’t care. He wasn’t that strong anyways I normally beat him in class. He’s got a grandpa that’s supposed to be an ancient master of the sword but he’s a fraud. I’m not worried if he’s against me, I’ll take him down quickly,” the second said. He had brown hair and dark black eyes. Garr studied the two for sometime then noticed that the second had the exact same village symbol as Zeke. Garr’s expression changed as he looked the boy over. He looked at the big board showing all the contestants. Some time passed and Garr finally got his chance to fight. He ran down the stairs and went to the gate. “ID, number, and letter,” the man said standing in front of a door. Garr quickly handed him the papers. The man smiled and slowly opened the door. Garr walked to the center of the arena. The terrains they had talked about were hardly noticeable but good enough for some type of advantage. As Garr came to the center of the arena he was in shock. The four opponents he had to face were the four friends that he had made on his trip to Guard Isle. |

Those are the Prologue and the first two chapters for now. It's a little harder to read cause I typed it up on word and so it's not like double spaced after paragraphs. Let me know what you think and everything |

(To all those who care and I'm guessing it's no one ehre's chapter 3) 3 “Garr, Haze close your mouths a fly might fly in,” Zeke said as calmly as he said anything else. “Isn’t it a surprise to you that we’re all fighting each other?” Kait asked. “Not really I think of it more as of irony. Still let’s have us a good fight, it’s boring to wait,” Zeke said crossing his arms. “Here are the life bracelets that will take you out when you’re defeated,” said one of the gate guards. He quickly handed each person a small bracelet which they tied around their arms. “Begin the fight,” the announcer said. Haze was surprised as everyone jumped back many feet and got in a fighting stance. He followed what they did. Then he saw that the small river which he could use to his advantage was on the opposite side of where he was. He began to run as a huge stone had just flown in front of him. He looked to the side and ducked as a discus flew at him. Haze crawled on the ground and just as he was about to get into the water Garr stepped in front of him. Garr had a discus in one hand and a small sword in his other. Haze jumped back and attached his own small swords to his arms. He grabbed the curved handle and put the blade block in front of his fists. Haze looked around to see that Zeke was still in the same position with his arms crossed. Haze ran into the small woods and began to move towards Zeke. He moved quietly then began to run at Zeke. It happened so quickly that Haze could hardly avoid the attack. As he was running at Zeke, Zeke had thrown a hidden knife at Haze. “Do you think I’d actually let my guard down so easily,” Zeke said crossing his arms again. “Actually, Kait what is that?” Haze exclaimed. Kait was standing behind on the back of a giant doll. The doll that was normally around her waist had enlarged to be even bigger than she was. She had a staff that no one had seen before strapped to her back as well. “This is Tip-tot-tippy-tot or as I like to call him Tip. He’s my puppet doll which I use for combat. I also use plants as you can see by the roots which are moving your way,” Kait said moving her fingers quickly. While Kait had been explaining Zeke had run out of the way. He finally stopped and jumped into a tree. He looked at the battle which was happening. Kait, Haze, and Garr had all begun to fight against themselves. Zeke quickly thought about something and his eyes zoomed through out the battlefield. He turned his eyes to a few feet away to see Jenna stomping on the ground. Zeke jumped out of the tree quickly as many spikes made of rock flew into the tree. Jenna stuck out one open hand and a row of spikes began to rise in Zeke’s direction. Zeke quickly began to flip backwards as the spikes came closer to him. Eventually the spikes stopped rising and Zeke stared at Jenna. “You still haven’t used any of your elemental powers, you know we’ve got to prove our skills,” Jenna said going into a stance. “I’ll use it when I need to. No point in wasting energy so mindless,” Zeke said reaching his left hand into a pouch. Jenna quickly reacted and stomped on the ground quickly forcing a hand forward. A giant boulder suddenly emerged from by Jenna and flew towards Zeke. Zeke quickly dropped to the ground just as the rock seemed to explode. Jenna looked confused but then saw Garr’s discus flying around. The discus continued to make a loop until it returned to its owner. Garr looked at both Zeke and Jenna quickly examining the situation. Garr jumped up an amazing ten feet as Jenna launched a boulder at him. Garr grabbed both of his discuses and threw them at her. Jenna raised her hand quickly and a small wall made of rocks emerged from the ground. Just as she did this the discuses seemed to move around the wall and hit her. The discuses had only hit her arms but they had still hit her. Garr landed as his discuses returned to him. He grabbed on and threw it at Zeke who was still on the ground. Zeke sprang to his feet causing the discus to miss him. As the discus started to return to Garr Zeke jumped into a nearby tree. Garr grabbed his discus and swung it as if it were a fan. Huge gusts of wind beat against the tree which Zeke was in until it finally snapped. Zeke jumped out of the broken tree and threw a ninja star at Garr. Garr blasted the ninja star with a small gust of wind causing it to fall to the ground. He swung one of his discuses again causing another gust of wind to beat against Zeke. Jenna moved away from the battle and hid in the woods. She untied the axe from her belt and flowed power into it. The axe opened up and turned into its normal form. Jenna looked around her and saw strange objects flying through the air. She untied headband and tied it around her mouth and nose. Just as she looked around even more she heard her tree snap. Jenna jumped out of the tree to see Kait’s giant puppet doll had punched the tree so hard it had broken. Jenna landed on the ground and got into a new stance. “Good job avoiding the spores I sent out after you. Their still around so I’d be careful,” Kait said as she came into view. “How does that thing have so much power?” Jenna said readjusting her headband around her mouth. “That’s a secret. Tip let’s hurry and finish this one,” Kait said as she began to move her fingers again. “Earlier you were riding on it…so I’m guessing you’re actually skilled at being a puppeteer,” Jenna said hoisting her axe on her shoulder. “Yes I am, I don’t even need strings to channel energy anymore I can do it from a distance. On another note I can even control plants while using my puppet as well,” Kait said moving her fingers. “Quite skilled indeed, wait you’re powers are plant, damn,” Jenna said jumping to the side as plant root almost hit her. The root was still moving and began to move towards her. The root seemed to have a sharp point which it tried stabbing her with. Jenna swung her axe cutting most of the root apart. As she turned she saw Kait’s puppet running at her. Jenna rolled out of the way as the puppet punched the ground where she had been. Jenna examined the puppet carefully. It looked exactly like a weird rag doll that a child might have. It had small legs but giant arms. Its head was giant compared to its body. It had pointy ears and big red and green buttons for eyes. The puppet even had a small pointy tail and was a tanish yellow color. Kait swung one of her arms and the puppet charged Jenna again. Jenna swung an axe and blocked the puppet’s punch. Jenna saw that the puppet was much stronger than she was since it had begun to push her back. Jenna slid her foot to the side then slowly raised her hand even if she was holding her axe with it. Then the puppet was catapulted into the sky as a rock pillar rose from under him. The puppet crashed many feet away. Jenna put her axe into an attack position as she ran towards Kait who began to move her fingers even quicker than usual. Kait jumped to the side as Jenna slammed her axe against the ground, causing many rocks to be sent up. Jenna let go of her axe with one hand and began to move it in different manners. The rocks sent up started to fly towards Kait. Kait moved with great speed even if she wasn’t able to avoid all of the rocks. She gave a smile as she pulled one of her hand up high. Jenna looked surprised as she was grabbed by the leg. She looked quickly to see a tree root which sent her flying into the air. Kait swung with one of her arms as if she was punching someone. She then opened her other hand then quickly closed it again. Jenna looked down in time to see that the plant root had let go over her. Just as she tried to regain a stance Kait’s puppet jump high into the air pulling its arms over its large head. Jenna tried to move quickly but didn’t move in time for the puppet to slam its weird hands into her side sending her into the ground at amazing speeds. As Jenna was about to collide with the ground she moved her hands in a different fashion then usual causing the ground beneath her seemed to explode. Jenna stood up from the ruble panting. Even cushioning her fall she had still received some strong blows. She looked to where Kait had been. Kait had taken some damage from the ground blast she had done. Kait began to move her fingers again. Jenna looked around her to see the puppet landing by Kait. Jenna looked around to see that her axe was closer to Kait then it was to her. She had dropped the axe after the puppet had hit her. Jenna kneeled down on the ground and pounded her fist into it. Spikes made of earth started to appear in the area around Kait. They were similar to the ones Jenna had used against Zeke except much stronger. Kait didn’t realize what was happening until she started to get hit by the spikes. She moved her puppet, which was getting hit as well, and quickly jumped onto its head. She moved her fingers quickly and the puppet jumped high into a tree. The puppet began to jump from tree to tree away from Jenna. Jenna sighed quickly then looked around. Jenna grabbed her axe and made it small so it would fit on her belt again. She jumped into a tree and went in the opposite direction from which Kait had gone. Haze was hiding deep in the lake that the battlefield had. He had taken some damage while he was fighting Kait and Garr but he was calming down. He looked to the top of the lake to see a shadow. Haze grinned for he knew he had the element of surprise this time. He began to swim towards the surface and pushed water up so it attacked the person. Finally he rose to the surface and attempted to kick at the person. Haze landed on dry land to see there was no one there. He quickly jerked his neck avoiding a ninja star. He looked around quickly trying to find Zeke but he didn’t see anything. Haze heard the sound of running coming towards him and he quickly assumed a fighting position. He blocked against Zeke’s sword with the blade on his left arm. “So you’re making the first move for once,” Haze said as he jumped away from Zeke. “I just set the trap, you took it. No one’s gone down yet and it’s getting boring, I decided that I should just start fighting harder,” Zeke said getting into a better stance. “You’re in my terrain. The water behind me will help a ton, plus you’re of fire you don’t stand a chance,” Haze said jumping onto the lake. He stood there without dropping into the water. “So you’re actually trained enough to walk on water, good for you. Don’t judge a situation so easily, I admit the lake will give you a plus but that’s not the only element in effect here. But it’s to boring to just sit here and explain it to you, since we’ve only got another hour and a half to fight,” Zeke said. “What? Never mind, I’ll take you down either way,” Haze said swinging his arm. This caused a tentacle of water towards fly at Zeke. Zeke moved quickly and the tentacle collided with the ground. Haze raised his hands and a ball of water rose up. It then hit Zeke’s body. Zeke was shocked at the speed the attack had gone at. Haze jumped out of the water and kicked Zeke in the face. Zeke rolled on the ground and threw a throwing knife at Haze. The knife stabbed Haze in the shoulder. Zeke lunged at Haze and knocked him off of his feet. Zeke swung his sword slashing part of Haze’s chest. Haze punched Zeke with his blade guard. Zeke moved but got his side cut partially. Haze quickly brought his leg up in an attempt to kick Zeke, but when he missed he tried a spin kick. Haze jumped back and began to send blasts of water towards Zeke. Zeke avoided the attacks then blasted Haze with a ball of fire. Haze didn’t expect the attack so he was hit dead on. Haze ran onto the water and formed a small whirlpool. He brought the spinning water out of the lake so it looked like a giant spiral of water. He pushed his hands forwards sending the water towards Zeke. There was a huge cloud of steam as the attack hit Zeke. Haze smiled slightly when he saw Zeke lying on the ground. Then a huge blast of fire went towards him causing him to lose concentration and fall into the water. Zeke was standing again with a frown on his face. His entire body was wet but he could still summon fire, which Haze thought awkward. “How can you still use fire?” Haze asked as he brought himself back on top of the water. “It’s one of the elements I was talking about. The water does decrease the power making it so that I have to put more energy in. But this is one way I was thought to use the fire element. I’ve learned to break through some water with my fire that’s why there was so much steam when you first sent the attack at me. You’re underestimating me which will be a mistake,” Zeke said taking his wet jacket off. “I’ll defeat you and your fire you’ll see,” Haze said sending a wave of water towards Zeke. Zeke’s hands started to glow and a huge blast of fire evaporated the wave. Zeke jumped high as he avoided a water blast then sent a fireball towards Haze. Haze moved out of the way and ran towards Zeke. Haze said a small chance as water surrounded his body then wore off. He used a roundhouse kick which Zeke blocked with his arm. Zeke gasped as blood started to run down his arm, he looked at Haze’s legs to see that he was wearing spiked greaves. Haze smiled as he attempted to slash Zeke with his arm blade. Zeke grabbed Haze’s arm before he could hurt him. Zeke’s hand then started to glow as he burned Haze’s upper arm. Haze bit his lip as he tried using his other arm. Zeke knocked his arm away and kicked him in the chest. As Haze began to fall backwards Zeke blasted him with a fire blast. Haze jumped to his feet and ran backwards a few feet. He started to kick Zeke even though most of his attacks were either blocked or dodged. Zeke felt that he had charged all of his attacks with a water boost not only making them stronger but shot water as well. Zeke quickly redrew his katana and slashed Haze’s arm. Haze exclaimed in pain as Zeke slipped behind him and grabbed his arm. Zeke began to push Haze’s arm up until he started to hear it snap. Haze began to yell in pain as he quickly moved his other arm. A wave of water hit both of them but forced Zeke to let go of him. Haze got up looking at his arm, it wasn’t broken but it was sore. Steam began to come off of Zeke’s body as he got up. “How are you drying yourself like that?” Haze asked as he got in his stance again. “I can increase the heat around me that’s how,” Zeke said sheathing his katana. Haze ran at Zeke full speed attempting to punch him with the bladed guard he had. Zeke ducked under the attack and grabbed Haze by the throat. “This isn’t my style but just tell me when you give up or else I won’t be held responsible for what happens to you,” Zeke said starting to choke Haze. Haze attempted to stop Zeke but the blades for his swords were on the outside of his arm. He opened his guard and started to choke Zeke as well. Soon enough they were on the ground rolling towards the water. Both of them kept choking the other as they sunk deeper and deeper into the lake. Haze started to move his body so that the water started to pound on and hurt Zeke. Zeke closed his eyes for a while then quickly opened them. Haze saw extra bubbles start to rise when he began to feel his throat start to heat up. Haze then knew that Zeke was trying to heat through the water to hurt him even more. Then suddenly a whirlpool started to form around them. They were forced apart and sent upwards instead of downwards. Zeke rose quickly taking huge gasps of air. He looked around to see Haze surfacing and to see Garr floating above the water. Zeke quickly dove into the water as Garr threw his discus at him. Zeke swam as quickly as he could towards the shore. He ran out of the lake taking deep gasps of air again. Zeke had fought Garr earlier and without a small break he wouldn’t be able to fight him again. Zeke ran into a tree in time to see Jenna running towards Garr and Haze. He ran a distance away and rested in a tree. Zeke closed his eyes for sometime. He finally heard some twigs breaking and quickly opened his eyes. He quietly got into a better position on the branch and grabbed a throwing knife from one of his pouches. He scanned the area looking for any signs of anyone else. “Hey who are you looking for, is it me?” Kait said on the tree branch right next to his. Zeke kicked off of the tree and threw his knife at her. She quickly jumped to the ground as her puppet doll appeared from the nearby bushes. Zeke jumped to a strange stance that Kait had never seen before. Kait got in her own stance and smiled at him. Haze had resubmerged himself with an air bubble to avoid confrontation. Fighting Zeke had worn out most of his energy and now he’d have to fight Garr and Jenna. Suddenly from underneath him giant pillar of dirt rose up and sent him out of the water. As he was about to land on dry land Garr threw one of his discuses cutting Haze’s leg. “We’re all near breaking point,” Jenna said as she enlarged her axe. “Then this could be decisive. I’ll take both of you out easy,” Garr said as his discus returned to him. Haze jumped to his feet and sent from the puddles around him started to attack the other two. Garr jumped up high and formed balls of wind in his hands. As he landed he threw them at Haze and Jenna. Jenna broke the attack with her axe and hit Garr with a spike. Garr began a counterattack but was interrupted when Haze kicked him in the back. Garr rolled forward and swung his arm. Haze felt like a blade just hit him across the chest as a wind attack hit him in the chest. Jenna jumped over them and smashed her axe against the ground as she landed. A small crater formed which Jenna enhanced and huge rocks and earth spikes were sent in every single direction. Haze avoided some of the attack but still took damage. After the attack he ran at her slashed her with one of his arm blades. He then kicked her in the face and tripped her causing her to fall to the ground. Then he felt a type of drill hit him in the back causing him to fall on top of Jenna. Garr jumped in the air as he formed a huge ball of wind in his hands. He threw the ball down sending the two on the ground flying in opposite directions. As he landed he used his fists to send blasts of wind against both of them. Jenna sprang to her feet and kicked Garr in the stomach causing him to lose his air. Jenna jumped back shot a rock towards Garr. He avoided it but it hit Haze who was starting to stand up. Haze got up again and wiped some of the blood off of his face. He formed two whirlpools in the water and brought it out like he had with Zeke except there were two of them. He forced them slowly and sent them towards his two opponents. They were hit but were soon standing again. “How much more can they take,” Haze panted, “I don’t have enough time to heal myself, damn.” Jenna started to run at him with axe in hand. As she did this she sent small rocks flying towards him at fast speeds. Haze broke them with kicks and his arm blades. When Jenna swung Haze dodge the attack and grabbed her arms. He used all of his strength to flip her into the lake. He clapped his hands causing two waves coming from opposite directions to crash into Jenna. When the waves collided he forced his arms down causing the water to immediately fall onto Jenna sending her deep into the water. Haze panted as she rose up slowly. He smiled and fell to his knees as he saw Jenna’s life bracelet glowing. She then disappeared and Haze started to laugh to himself. “I did it I actually took someone out are you watching dad, I actually did it,” Haze laughed. “Yeah, you did but there’s still me,” Garr said. He had sneaked behind Haze and was standing there with his small sword against Haze’s neck. “You let your guard down so I win.” “I can still fight back…I did my best dad at least I wasn’t the first out in this fight,” Haze said as his life bracelet began to glow. Garr kicked him to the ground with a smile as he pulled his blade away. Haze disappeared just like Jenna had. “Two down, that leaves Kait and Zeke,” Garr said walking towards to woods. Zeke was sent flying into a tree as Kait’s puppet punched him. He jumped out of the way as a tree root tried to stab him. He ran towards Kait who with sword in hand. The puppet quickly moved in between them and attempted to stop Zeke. Zeke jumped over the puppet and started to blast it with fire. He landed on the puppet’s head and tried to stab it. Zeke was caught off guard when Kait jumped at him and knocked him off of the puppet with her staff. She landed on its head and smiled at him as she strapped the staff to her back. She moved her fingers quickly as some of the trees began to move. Zeke looked around to see that leaves were floating around him. Suddenly they began to fly around him giving him small cuts. Zeke began to burn the leaves and try move towards Kait. He sent a huge ball of fire towards her which burned through all of the leaves and hit her puppet directly. The puppet doll fell backwards which caused Kait to fall as well. Zeke grabbed some ninja stars and quickly threw them at her. Kait grunted as the ninja stars hit her. She jumped to her feet and moved her fingers quickly causing her puppet to get up as well. Kait moved her fingers quickly causing roots rise from the ground all around her. The attack was very similar to Jenna’s earth spikes. Zeke drew his katana and stuck it in the ground. His hands began to glow as he pulled it out and the katana went ablaze. Zeke tore through the roots and lighting the rest of them on fire because whenever he swung his sword flames scattered. Kait go on her puppet’s back and made it jump into a tree. As Zeke jumped towards her Kait made a weird face as she quickly moved her fingers. Suddenly Zeke was punched and sent flying by a tree branch that had just moved. Kait’s face returned to its normal expression as she moved her fingers in a different pattern. As Zeke began to run at her he felt something stick into his side. He looked to see a thorn. Zeke looked around as more thorns started to shoot towards him. Zeke saw many thorn bushes which were now moving. Zeke formed a fireball in his hand and burned one of the bushes then another and another. He then started to run towards Kait again. Kait’s puppet began to try to punch Zeke. Zeke avoided the attacks quickly and stuck a single knife into the puppet. He jumped back as Kait got on the puppet’s back. Zeke stopped a few feet away and clapped his hands. Kait looked confused but suddenly there was an explosion on Tip her puppet. The explosion was a small one but it was big enough to send Kait flying off of her puppet. Zeke jumped over the puppet on the ground swinging his arm quickly as he landed on it. Kait stood up again just as Zeke came over to her and punched her in the stomach. Zeke jumped back and ran at her again. He opened his hand which was glowing immensely and pushed it against her stomach. There was a huge explosion and a mass of fire sending Kait twenty feet away into a tree. She was breathing heavily as she began to move her fingers slightly. Zeke started to walk towards her as Kait’s puppet jumped at him. Zeke kept walking and quickly snapped his fingers. There was a huge explosion and the puppet was sent flying back even farther. Kait tried moving her fingers but stopped. She had healed herself with the few healing techniques she could spare but it all seemed useless now. Zeke was right in front of her now. She gave a smile at him as her life bracelet started to glow. “Good fight. If you had used poison you might have won. If you’re wondering why I wasn’t worried about your puppet in the end it was because I set a bomb on him which activated when I released a certain amount of heat in a certain way,” Zeke said calmly. “Tip’s going back with me. That was a great fight I think that Garr’s the only one left. Have fun I’ll be watching,” she said as she disappeared. “Garr, I guess I should start preparing,” Zeke said pulling a knife from a pouch, “or we can start now.” Zeke quickly threw the knife into a tree and heard a grunt. Zeke began to run towards the tree and blasted it with fire. The tree quickly caught fire and a figure jumped out of it. Garr landed on the ground many feet away from him. In one hand he had a discus in the other he had a small sword about one foot long. “So the last to,” Zeke said grabbing another knife. “It’s the person that demonstrates the better skills we could still all pass. But don’t worry I’ll pass for sure,” Garr said as the wind around him started to increase. “What a drag,” Zeke said as the heat around him increased. Garr quickly threw his discus and began to charge towards Zeke. Zeke avoided the discus and blocked against Garr’s sword. Zeke rolled backwards in time to avoid Garr’s discus on its return to him. Garr swung his arm when he grabbed the discus sending a huge gust of wind flying back at him. Garr let go of the discus and kept it floating with his wind element. “Come forth Bladed Wind!” Garr said as he sent a huge gust of wind in front of the discus. Just like before a giant gust of wind flew at Zeke except on contact it felt like sharp blades dug into him. After the attack Zeke threw a ninja star into the center of the discus causing it to fall to the ground. Zeke jumped over Garr and quickly threw five knives around and at Garr. There were small but they cause lots of dust to rise. Garr formed a small tornado around himself which collected the dirt. As he did this Zeke ran at him and slashed his cheek with a knife. Zeke ran still for a while then quickly turned back and threw the knife at him. Garr dodged the attack and ran at Zeke quickly throwing one discus than another. He got his small sword and continued his assault on Zeke. The discus cut Zeke in the side since he avoided the first. He quickly locked blades with Garr. Garr smiled as he began to push against Zeke. Garr started to use his feet as mediums for his wind. The wind began to blow against Zeke with great force. Zeke knew the conditions well even if it was in a different situation. ‘While fighting in a windy area you have to be careful since fire will follow normally the wind. It takes true power so I don’t think you should do it.’ “I know Gramps don’t worry I remember,” Zeke said as he rolled to the ground nearly causing Garr to trip. Zeke quickly let a huge blast of fire go which pounded against Garr’s back. Garr swung an arm sending a gale at Zeke which sent Zeke back fifty feet. Garr picked up his discuses and put them on the clips his pants had. Garr ran with his small sword in a weird position. Zeke blasted the ground with fire which causing a type of smokescreen. Garr who was confused stopped as Zeke leapt from the fire and kicked him hard in the face. Zeke landed on the ground and kicked Garr in the stomach releasing a blast of fire. Garr was sent to the ground but quickly used his wind to stand up again. Wind started to spin around his arm around. It formed a small tornado which looked similar to a drill around his arm. He ran at Zeke and hit him in the stomach sending him back thirty feet. Zeke panted as he reached into his pouch to find it empty. Zeke quickly reached into another to find one throwing knife, a small piece of paper, and one ninja star. He grabbed the ninja star and threw it carelessly. Garr moved but his shoulder still got cut. They both stood there looking at each other. Both panting extremely as he prepared for their next move. Zeke ran at Garr full speed and jumped into the air throwing his last knife down. As he landed he drew his katana attempted to slash Garr as well. Garr knocked the knife away and blocked the slash with his discus. Zeke knocked the discus away and hugged Garr. There was an awkward silence as Garr kicked himself away and stared at him. Zeke looked at Garr as if nothing had happened. Garr ran at Zeke with his sword in hand. Zeke smiled and snapped. Garr was two feet away from felt heat on his back and then an explosion knocking him towards Zeke. Zeke kicked Garr in the chest and blasted him with fire from his foot. Garr’s face was shocked as crashed against a tree. He moved his arm slightly as his discus flew and hit Zeke in the chest. Both of their life bracelets began to glow at the same time. “By the way that hug only had to do with me setting up a blast paper on your back nothing else,” Zeke said as they both disappeared. “And that long fight is over contestants for round thirty two please proceed to your gate entrances,” the announcer said. After all his tools were returned to him and after some healing Zeke went to quarters assigned to him. He turned on the television set in time to see the end of a battle. He quickly turned it off again and laid his head on the soft pillow. He wondered where the rest of the group was and what they were thinking. After a few minutes Zeke was fast asleep. The next day all of the recruits were called to the lobby area. Jenna didn’t know if she wanted to find her friends or not. She was too anxious to see them afraid that the battle from the previous day might have broken them apart. She walked around for a few minutes until she found Haze talking to Garr. Jenna walked over carefully and waved to them. “Haven’t seen you since you were taken out yesterday,” Garr said. He had a big bandage on his cheek. “It was intense. I wonder where Kait and Zeke are. I hope all of us passed,” Haze said looking through the crowd. “Hey everyone did everyone sleep well,” Kait said as she and Zeke joined the other three. “As well as I could,” Jenna said. “Our fight was one of the longer ones. I heard that the final fight was around two I the morning, that’s why this gathering is so late,” Kait said. “They’ve judged pretty quickly. The important votes are from the top five seats. They told me they had a hard time gathering all of my ninja stars and throwing knives but they found most of them and my jacket,” Zeke said running his hand through his hair. “I bet you had a ton. That paper bomb hurt pretty badly to,” Garr said rubbing his back. “Their posting who passed and who didn’t by which gates you were at,” Jenna said as she pointed to some of the Elemental Guards putting up something along the walls. “Do you think they already assigned us to squads?” Haze asked. “Probably not, they’ll just send us to the academy for a while or something,” Jenna responded. “They are revealing the posters now. Let’s go see them and come back here,” Kait said. Everyone nodded and quickly walked over to their gates. When someone was told weather they passed or failed their name disappeared off of the board. The losers were to be shipped off as soon as possible while the people who passed were assigned to a place to go. The group went to their gates and got the cards saying their destiny. None of them opened them as they walked back to the designated location. They looked at each other calmly. At the exact same time they started to open their envelopes and pulled out the pieces of papers within. No one looked at theirs but stuck the papers out. In unison all of them flipped their papers over. Everyone looked at the plain written words on all of their papers. ‘I’m sorry you failed. Please get your things and take the cart to a port for a boat home. Please try again next year and thank you for participating.’ |
