http://kotaku.com/5927645/rumor-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-is-dead SE has got to be one of the worst companies in the biz. Just from a a fiscal standpoint alone (I'm not even gonna mention their games of late). So much money and man power wasted....What exactly do they do with their time?! No way in hell XIII-2 took much thought and all other games they've released has been developed by other studios. Ugh....so disappointed in them. Loved them so much growing up...:(.... |

Maybe they cancelled it because it was getting to be too much work to create. :P They don't want to invest any time or money in big blockbuster projects - only easy cash-ins. What's weird is that it took them six years to figure this out with FF Vs XIII. |

It will be released on the PS4 and Xbox 3 using that next gen engine they showed a few weeks back. |

What a waste that would be.... ......which means you're probably right.....that's what they're up to. I wish they'd spend their time and expertise coming up with something original. And by original I mean forgetting everything they've done so far. Forget the character types they're so fond of, forget the badly written, convoluted story lines (ditching Versus is probably a step in the right direction on that one), forget Final Fantasy altogether. I really think they've already drove that franchise so deep in the ground there's no going back. They should really just try something new and original applying the talents and skills that we know they have, but haven't really utilized in a decade or more. |

Just think of how many more games and how much more money they could make if they focused on handheld games instead of costly bleeding edge graphics for the major consoles. I mean, they aren't even on top of that category really. SE just seems to waste money and time. When Atlus (hell, even NiS) is releasing more games than the mighty SE, you know they're doing something wrong.

A lot of what you are saying could be applied to JRPGs and Anime (for that matter) in general. I don't understand why these guys have just completely lost it this gen. Its like they have no idea what they're doing anymore, and they don't really care. |

Square announced that the game isn't dead. Only in Witness Relocation. Apparently it saw the butchering of its cousin, FFXIII. |

Given my feelings about the series as it is and SE in general....I'm not sure if I can say this is good news or not....lol |

Where dreams come to come true.

Hearing this game isn't dead is a bigger shock at this point. In a post-Chinese Democracy and Duke Nukem Whatever world, we need something to fill that void. |

Yeah, FF Versus XIII is our new DNF. Its a sequel to a game series which has grown very stale over its development, people figured its been canceled at this point, and most people expect it to be trash when its finally released. |

I don't think it will be trash when it's released. I've always thought that Versus XIII looked far more interesting than XIII. |

Yeah but the source material is sh!t. I have no doubt it'll be beautiful from a technical standpoint, however, SE's ability to make something out of the source material worth it's weight in plastic is what has me not expecting much. That's not even taking into account just how long it's been in development, and SE's reluctance to show much of it to the media. 6 almost 7 years and we have what? One CG trailer and a few screen caps? .....Sketchy. |
