Not looking good for Cat Island. Considering its proximity to the quake and tsunami (closer than Sendai), I'd have to fear the worst for its human and feline inhabitants. |

Positive. The picture is from 2009. It might still be damaged, but no picture proof as of yet. There is a possible meltdown going on at Fukushima Daiichi's reactor. |

Maybe it was taken during the things construction? I hope they can find a way to contain that quickly man. We do not need another Chernobyl. Every tie you think that things cannot get worse over there, they do |

Some before/after pics: http://www.abc.net.au/news/events/japan-quake-2011/beforeafter.htm Unreal. A lot of the few remaining buildings that appear to be standing aren't even standing in the same place.... :? Just pure decimation. |

Crazy that even though the death toll likely climbs into 5 figures (with what seems like a lot of it coming from half of this one town being completely unaccounted for), it's still a fraction, a serious fraction, of what it would've been anywhere else. I think the toll in the Indonesian one was about 600-700,000, meanwhile this one is 100 times stronger, and somehow doubt it gets past 20,000. No consolation to those 20,000 or their loved ones, but Sendai alone has a population of one million people. |

Developed country are better equiped so the death toll is usually lower. If the same earthquake would happen in places like India, I bet you the death toll will be at least 50 times more. It's weird to think that there would be more death in a Hinduism festival than a freaking tornado in the states |

Good thing I stopped watching Family Guy http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment/tv/2011/03/15/17617836-wenn-story.html Also, I got an email today about our friend in Japan; they made it out okay and are now safe in Osaka(sp). Good news to come home to after handing in my college portfolio |

This girl is not real about this. But this is still the sentiment of plenty of "good God fearing Christians." Oh, found one: http://news.uk.msn.com/world/news-articles.aspx?cp-documentid=156497885 But yeah, the message itself is not uncommon, nor is it the worst thing you'll hear regarding this, but she was trolling. However, run that video alongside Godspeed You! Black Emperor's "Moya" for a nice apocalyptic feel to the message. The Pearl Harbor line is the worst of them all, however. It's like me saying, "the Japanese got what was coming to them for not opening trade to the outside world earlier. Commodore Perry FTFW." But Family Guy is the worst. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them make a joke about it in a few months, complete with racist mispronunciations and jokes about the pronunciation of "Fukushima." Don't really intend to get into a theology debate, but I find it funny God does things like this to punish non-believers even though we learn from a very very young age that the continents are constantly moving and that Japan literally jumping eight feet East is simply how our planet works. I also don't recall hearing that the Christchurch, NZ quakes were a message from God (why would He waste His time on destroying a place called motherfuckin' Christchurch?). So pick and choose your "messages," they're all designed to happen due to the makeup of the planet, and while it doesn't disprove the idea of a deity smiting fools from above, the fact this is elementary school science class at work far from convinces me that it is. I'm sorry Nate. although sacrificing your wife for the crimes of her gender would be a nice gesture and make everyone feel better, because who doesn't love a nice bon fire. It's not really fair of me to connect that troll in anyway to the very nice and lovely person you married. Even though there are plenty of fish in the sea as they say and your still young and all so finding another one shouldn't be that hard. |
