They got hit by an 8.9 earth quake, and it caused tsunamis that may wind up hitting some US soil as well. Send your prayers out to them. They need it right now. |

Where dreams come to come true.

Despite the good intention of wishing prayers, does it work when they don't even worship the same deities, much less to the deity that made it happen? I guess now's not the best time for that, but best wishes without a doubt. Fortunately, they're better equipped to handle this sort of tragedy than just about any place in the world. The death toll was at 18 last time I heard, hopefully that number is as accurate as possible moving forward and stays low. Some of the footage of these waves engulfing entire cities is absolutely unreal. Know a couple of people from Hokkaido, albeit north of the worst hit area with hopefully good reason no news is coming from it, but I think they're still in the US right now, at least I hope so, and that their families are okay. Dangerous world we live in. Keep a close eye on the 19 provinces in the Pacific affected by tsunami warnings as well, including Hawaii, where it's going to hit in about four hours. Crazy, crazy stuff. It's insane some of these aftershocks are reaching 7.1 magnitude. Can't imagine. |

I've been watching the coverage tonight on AlJazeera. The waves have been devastating. Last I heard, the death toll in Japan was around 28 people. Hopefully, Hawaii will not be hit as hard. http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/ Edited by thinkfreemind, Mar 11 2011, 05:27 AM.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/ap_on_re_as/as_japan_earthquake At least the power plants didn't fracture or anything, leaving the areas around them unlivable for something like a century |

Where dreams come to come true.

Need to probably quit following this...saw a YouTube comment from someone in the area of the tsunami when it hit. Not sure if he's trapped, but he kept saying how worried he was and he finished it up by saying "I want to live." Then I went to his page and he's 20 years old and favorited a Kirby 64 video. How do you not relate to that? :? Then another one of one of the quakes and I looked at the uploaders other videos, and it's just silly videos of him and his lady friend dancing to a jingle commercial downtown. How do you not relate to that? :? But with some heartwarming individualism comes asshats, like people spreading rumors on Twitter saying the Pokemon creator died in the tsunami. |

They did the same for Miyamoto. So it seems people just really dislike Nintendo products. There were a lot of people with "looking for X in Y" in the Earthquake post on Engadget this morning. |

They had to drown a nuclear reactor to prevent a meltdown, but they say not even that might not stop the spread of radiation. They also say the earthquakes have moved Japan 8 ft and the planet's axis shifted 4 inches. |

I know they did lose the Gundam statue. I do not know about the other thing, tough. Well, there was an explosion of some sort at one of the nuclear power plants. It is, now, leaking radiation. Maybe they can get it sealed off quickly before it is too bad. Maybe they cannot get anything done because of after shocks? I don't know. I fear another Chernobyl |

The Gundam photo is from 2009. So the reported damage so far is a fake. |
