I just got done playing through three demos from the Plaqystation Network last night and tonight. They were Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2 and Little Big Planet 2. Here are my thoughts Mass Effect 2 - First off, this demo starts off where the game begins, and the game begins with a "Holy shit!" moment. The very first moments of this let you know that this game is going to kick your ass, and you are going to love every second of it. I will not spoil this for those that have not played it, but, for those that have, you know what I am refering to. The shooting mechanics feel tighter this time around. I note that you actually have to reload, and I presume that you have ammo, as well. While i liked not having to worry about running out of ammo in the first game (they even gave an explanation for it in the codex) I do not mind this. It helps to make the game feel more action oriented. Cover is no longer automatic. IT is sticky cover, much like Uncharted. This, alone, is a huge improvement. Speaking of cover, you are going to need it. Enemy AI is better in this game. /You will need to use cover to get through fire fights. It makes them feel more intense, and I like that about them. Ally AI is, also, better. I saw some comparisons and found it interesting to note that the game actually looks better on the PS3 than on the 360. This, I Was glad to see, though not for fanboy reasons. It means Bioware is putting effort into this port, instead of just doing a quick cash in *cough*orangebox*cough* One more note. This demo is not short. It took me more than an hour to get through. This is no 15 minunte cop out that we are used to getting. Thank you for that, Bioware. Color me impressed. Dead Space 2 - This really felt like more of the same, though that is not a bad ting. The first Dead Space is the best survival horror game of all time. Graphically, this game is an improvement over the original. It did not need to because the original already looked very good. The excellent sound design is still here, and the strategic dismemberment is back, as well. this is a very good thing. Isaac has a voice this time, but it isn't what you might have been thinking. He is not some gravel throated badass. He sounds like a normal guy. I like this choice because that is exactly what he is. One thing I did note that I did not like is that this game seemed brighter than the original. It makes sense, given that you are no longer on a massive ship with no power in deep space, but, if the entire game is like this, it might take away from the atmosphere. This isn't a good thing. The demo is short, and that sucks. Based on what I played, it might not be as good as the original, if only because it is brighter than the original. It still feels like a lot of fun, though. I am looking forward to it, and i would not say it necessarily let me down. Stepping back into Clark's space suit felt awesome. Little Big Planet 2 - Graphically, this does look better on a technical level. The wonderful art style from the first game is back, as I am sure you have seen from the trailers. It is hard to judge a game like this based on a demo since so much of it's awesomeness depends on it's after market support. That being said, this feels like going from Super Mario Brothers 1 to Super Mario Brothers 3. It takes away nothing that was awesome about the original and adds things like new features and new power ups that just make it feel better. Little Big Planet 2 will be a fantastic game and will, almost certainly, outshine the original. To make one more Mario comparison, this series oozes with the same level of creativity of the Mario games. The level design is, once again, brilliant, and the sackboy is just a lovable character. Much like many a Nintendo character, he has a lot of personality and charm without ever saying a single word. This is the kind of series that could go on forever and be remembered fondly 25 years from now as one of the best ever |

Your thoughts on Dead Space make me want to move the first game higher up my gaming priority list. Survival horror games are usually very hit or miss with me, mostly miss to be honest. I'll take your word for it though. I already own the game, so there is no harm in moving it closer to the top of the pile. |

Dead Space had a good story that took a long time to get going. The tie in comic and movie were, actually, good. The game, itself, has been described as Resident Evil 4 in space, but that is not an entirely fair comparison. They control basically the same, though Dead Space is darker. The sound design is better and it creates a better atmosphere. It, also, makes you relearn everything you know about shooting in video games. All shooting enemies in the face will do is piss them off and get you killed faster. You have to tear them limb from limb, and it makes it that much more fun in my opinion. The boss fights in the game as very memorable, but hte zero gravity and vacuum sections are where the game really shines |

No daylight, I'm too weak to face it!

I don't know what it is about those "over the shoulder view" games that drives me nuts. The shooting/fighting mechanics in games like RE4, Army of Two, Dead Space, Batman AS, etc completely destroy any enjoyment the game could have for me. Maybe it's too zoomed in. :? |

It jsut sucks when it is too zoomed out like in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The third person view in those games is terrible |

Yeah, but at least with those games you get options. |

The third person perspective of games like uncharted and Dead Space does not bother me. I prefer FPS, but I cannot deny that Uncharted is one of hte best games released this generation |
