but people want 100+ hour games... I don't know why... if I want a game to last 100 hours, I'll replay it 2-3 times... Edited by kknd, Dec 12 2010, 04:29 PM.

In college, I hated anything less than 20 hours and wanted every RPG to be 40+. That was when I was playing like 25 or so hours a week. Now? I play on the weekends for 5-10 hours or so for the average game (obviously, I play a lot more for something I get really excited about). So really, anything more than 20 hours just gets to be a nuisance. It's frustrating cause I'm still enjoying the game, but it's taking me longer to go through them, meaning I don't have time to play everything I want to. |

I find the sweet spot is around 25-30 hours for RPG and around 15 hours for other games, once I reach 40 hours line for RPGs and 20 hours for other genres, I start to get fed up. |

Nope, the ratio has to be around 5cents or less per hour of game time. |

The linear ones should be shorter. The last thing I want to do is run in a straight line for 20-30 hours. |

Right now I feel like Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days is never going to end. It's fun and addictive, but there's just too much of it and it's all pretty repetitive. The thing is: Each mission only takes like 10-30 minutes on average, so you feel compelled to play them all. I've beaten 49/93 so far and I've been playing 14 hours or so? I just wish it was shorter. It could be, but it's so damned addictive and easy to get suckered into doing everything. And that's avoiding the multiplayer and the challenges. It's very obviously designed to be a commute game, but I enjoy the plot and characters so much I'm playing it in long stretches and that burns you out a bit. |

I agree that games (with the exception of FPS's) should be shorter. For me, 20-40 hours is the sweet spot. |
