Strange Journey is a great game though, but I laugh at the fact that they recommend Strange Journey over Dragon Quest IX because Dragon Quest IX "has no story and is too grind heavy." They also ignored that Strange Journey's story didn't have much more story than DQ9 and the game is a huge grindfest. |

Yeah, I liked Strange Journey just as much as DQIX, but that's an absurd reason to pick it over DQIX. |

I swear that New Vegas is A LOT harder than Fallout 3 was. I do not think I died anywhere near as often in 3 as I have in NV, and I have played it for a lot less time at this point. I am still enjoying it, though. The wasteland is still a lot of fun to explore |

Where dreams come to come true.

Oh yeah. So I've been working on main character campaigns in Disgaea and Disgaea 3. I cannot get over how slow the bonus gauge in Disgaea is. Ack. And I cannot get over how poor some of these maps in Disgaea 3 are. Ack. All in all, I'm learning a valuable fact: Disgaea 2 main character run is by far the most fun, even if you can't beat the game with just main characters. :whatever: At least I don't think. Maybe it's an equipment thing. Don't think it's a Geo thing though. Edited by goodlucksaturday, Feb 9 2011, 04:03 PM.

How is you're playing both D1 and 3 and you're commenting that the D3 maps are poorly done? You are absolutely off your rocker. |

I'm not talking about the Disgaea 1 Item World maps, which are worst of the worst, but the story maps on Disgaea 3 are a serious mess. So many ridiculous gimmicks revolving around these Geo Blocks. Like the zombie bridge and that one with the four chickens on a nine grid map? Really kinda frustrating. |

I did na absolutely sweet mission on New Vegas last night. I had to get a power station called Helios One up and running at full power. The massive power station was so much more than that, though. It was quite challenging, actually. I had to fight A LOT of robots inside that plant |

I never played Item World. The D3 maps were great, if a little simplistic. The nightmare maps of D1 were the worst I've ever played, bar none. The winding rows of blocks you had to follow as you got mass attacked from enemies you couldn't reach. God, I hated that games maps. |

That's true. I'd rather fight through walls of enemies than stand on the home square and not be able to move off it, personally. First game's item world is terrible though since everything's randomly generated, a fair chunk of the maps would feature islands you couldn't reach with enemies that couldn't be killed leaving you with rewards you couldn't gain. |

Yeah, I just find it peculiar you hate the D3 maps. That catches me completely from left field since I thought D3 was actually quite easy and required no leveling on my part, whatsoever. |

Map ease vs. difficulty is another thing. I found the challenge in D3 to be serviceable. Probably a step below what I would've liked, but I do enjoy making stops in the Item World every so often just to kill an hour or two, so leveling is rarely a problem. But I think the problem with some of the maps is they're just isn't anything to them. There's no strategy in walking along a bridge as a bunch of zombies walk the towards you. You melee multi-enemy spells and attacks and that's that. It just doesn't excite me. I do very much dislike the Geo Blocks as well. I think those cheapen it a bit that the strategy for winning is that black and white in maps where they're present. But there are some really good and fun maps on here. I just think there are a lot of really weak maps as well. But I kind of like the multi-faceted maps, and there aren't a lot of them here. There was one in D2 specifically where you had to climb a bunch of towers and destroy geos of no entries. It was lengthy, challenging, and rewarding. |
