It does not matter where RPGs come from. It only matters that they are fun and have good stories. Mass Effect and Fallout do. No one can deny this. The Witcher 2 came out not too long ago, and a new Dungeon Seige. There's 2 more RPGs for ya |

Seriously, what does it matter if a game came from the east or west? Games are about fun.

Where dreams come to come true.

Why am I bothering? It's about stylistic and gameplay differences that don't mesh. If RPGs for you are just about leveling your shit and long ass cutscenes, then yeah, it doesn't matter. That said, WRPGs do things differently. JRPGs do things differently. I prefer the way JRPGs do things, and I'm not really a big fan of how WRPGs do things. To create a similar analogy, look at baseball. A common discussion regarding Interleague play is that the National League and American League essentially play different styles of baseball. The NL plays a more pure and original style, while the AL is streamlined with a number of improvements. Me personally, I don't like watching AL games. You can tell me it's the same sport all night long, but it doesn't make me enjoy it. The style of play is different enough that it doesn't appeal to me, not in the same way I find the NL appealing. The same can be said of football. I have yet to see a level of play I like to watch that isn't the NFL. RPGs are no different in that sense. |

The only real difference is the designated hitter. Baseball is my sport, and I have been watching it since I was a child. I love it. Hell, I am probably the biggest baseball fan here. I have two favorite teams, one in each league. In the National League, I like the Atlanta Braves (who are kicking some ass! They won their 50th game of the season tonight. In the American League, I like the Texas Rangers. There are many different types of RPGs. The West is not tied down to one particular style. The east is not either. JRPG is not a genre, and WRPG is not a genre. They are all just different styles of RPGs. Sometimes WRPGs can venture into the east's supposed territory, and sometimes the east does the same with the west. It is all one giant mixed bag of RPG styles, and seperating east from west is stupid because of it. |

You know what game is REALLY not fun when you're out of practice? Wipeout. This is one of the least fun things I've ever done. When you're good at this game, it's the best in the world. Unfortunately, I've lost all skill I had at this and I am absolutely not interested in reinvesting the time to get it back. |

Traded in Golden Sun 3 and Vanquish at Best Buy. Got a $20 PSN card (which isn't bad considering I paid $35 total). I'm almost definitely getting Beyond Good and Evil. Other suggestions? http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1180689p1.html This honestly makes me not want this game. I know that makes me seem like a whiny comic fanboy, but that sort of irreverence annoys me. Just make a new character if that's what you want to do. I don't know why Robin has to be in there if this is what you're doing with him. http://wii.ign.com/articles/117/1179788p1.html This makes me REALLY want this game. Hmmm... |

I was just struck by how bizarre this is, and it's surprising it didn't hit me earlier. Europe is getting all these localized Wii games. Europe. You know, the region that used to be the red headed stepchild of localization. And it's not the first time. NPC Pikmin 2? Inazuma? Disaster? The Trace Memory sequel? That Hotel Dusk sequel? Even the freaking Tingle game. |
