Even when I try to say nice things about this game, look at what happens to the topic.

Huh? At no point in that game did I ever have to level and I pretty much blitzed through it. Sure you're thinking of the right one? :headscratch:

He is talking about Aerith's death I am pretty sure. I fail to see how it was new or ground breaking. It pretty much copied Phantasy Star II. At least the characters in that game TRIED to bring her back though. I am pretty sure that that game deserves the credit that FFVII gets for killing a main character. You cannot do something major to change story telling and whatnot if you are copying something that came before
You're missing the point. It's not about which came first, it's about which had the relevancy. People still talk about that FFVII scene as one of the most important scenes in video game history. I know you didn't like the game, but it's ridiculous for you to discount the impact the game and that scene had on gaming, and why that's easily more important than the opera scene. And who even talks about Phantasy Star nowadays? That'd be like saying The Godfather is not the most important gangster movie of all time because The Public Enemy or Little Caesar came first. Make that argument.
I think you are confusing being more important with being better. I think Phantasy Star 2 is better than FFVII. I do not dislike FFVII. IT just gets a hell of a lot of credit that it does not, never has and never will deserve
Uh, fs, you called the opera scene the most iconic. That is a descriptive regarding less the quality of the item, but weighs more the importance of the item. :) By all means, the FFVII scene is far more iconic than the opera scene, regardless of how you feel about the quality of the two.

And I might be interested to know what areas FFVII doesn't deserve the credit it gets. Was it the first to do a lot of things? Of course not. Was it the most important to do a lot of things? By leaps and bounds. It brought RPGs to the forefront of gaming in the West, it singlehandedly birthed the cinematic RPG, it shaped the landscape of video game and RPG storytelling. Not to mention it's one of the longest standing single titles of all time. How often does one game in a series spawn its own series? You can not like something and still recognize it's relevance to popular culture as a landmark event or title. FFVII is probably the most important or iconic RPG of all time. Sure, FFVI may be better, PSII may have done it first, but FFVII is the most indispensable.
And the Opera scene IS the most iconic scene. Moving on.

I didn't get a chance to listen to it earlier. I tried to once, but it wasn't loading. I was actually getting ready to do it sometime tonight.

I guess technically you don't HAVE to. The way I play RPGs though, I like to put in work and overpower enemies. I hate stocking up on potions and crap like that in these old ones, so I just level until I can go thru without worrying about it.

As far as grinding, I didn't start doing it until where I am in the game now. So if we are talking technical terms, you'd be absolutely right. You don't need to grind to survive.
