Ok, I'll try to put this in words as best I can. From what I've read so far, the game does cap you in the sense that latter parts of the Crystarium are closed off until you reach certain plot points. I'm assuming that simply means better stat boosts, spells, etc... However, I've also seen that you develop roles for each character and that each character can learn every role at some point. Does each character start out in a specific role in the Crystarium that is better suited for them with other roles closed off until later? Or can you level every role to a certain point by simply grinding? And then you can level the roles "better" later in the game? |

You start out with only one to three roles unlocked for each character, and the game tips help guide you in which character you should be advancing a certain role in the crystarium (sort of). You cannot just keep advancing, you have to move along in the story to unlock more roles and the next "role level" to learn new abilities and increase your stats. |

It appears that the characters start off with the classes they're most suited for in the beginning (with black dude being a possible exception- not sure how good of a Ravager he really is). Each other role is unlocked as you progress in the story. Right now, each of my characters have about 3 or so different roles to work on. I level them according to what I want them to focus on first, with some side leveling of other classes on the side dependent on what I need in battle, then when that's maxed I start them on their secondary role(s). |

So theoretically, if a role is open to me. I can grind until I max it out up to whatever point the cap is. In other words, I can go out and farm CP in order to level what IS available to me? |

Yeah, exactly. You don't have to level Lightning as a Commando if the Medic role is available. You can level the Medic to your heart's content until you reach the cap. |

But then can go and farm Comando after I'm done with medic as well in this case, right? |

Where dreams come to come true.

Let me clear up one thing real quick: from what I've experienced to where I'm at, you cannot grind or farm for CP. I don't know if enemies respawn, but all enemies are on the screen, and you don't get very many of them. You get enough to keep you moving along in your classes, but I haven't had enough to max out every class per area or whatever, just enough to keep maxed out in most of them until the next is available. |

Yeah. It really is like the Sphere Grid in a sense. You can focus on whatever role you want after you've unlocked them all. |

Enemies do respawn but not like you think. You have to go a little ways away from them so the area kind of disappears from the map then go back. You can level up any job? that you currently have. For instance, if one character has 3 job sets then you can level each at the same time or level one at a time. The thing that I have noticed is that each level takes the same amount of CP to level. For instance, Sazh has 1 job at level 1 and that will take just about the same CP as Hope's 3 level 1 jobs. Best part is that everyone gains the same amount of CP whether in battle or not. I will have hit the first cap in about 15 minutes and about 20 minutes story-wise after you are able to start the crystarium. |

It has taken me an hour or so. Assuming the cap is level one for this first area.

They will respawn. You will be farming if you want a platty. |
