http://kotaku.com/5492303/bioshock-2s-dlc-is-on-the-disc-to-keep-us-all-together Here's another game I won't be buying. I wasn't going to buy this game anyway because of the whole concept of playing as a Big Daddy who really isn't a Big Daddy anyway is just stupid. |

What load of bull****. I don't pay for DLC. 2K can kiss my ass. I am now slightly pissed at myself for having purchased the LE of this game, not because the content included isn't worth it, but because I now know that I was supporting a company making such sh***y decisions. It's is crap like this that cements my position that this will be my last generation of gaming.

How does it not being DLC and available for free now right off the disc split the userbase? |

It isn't a bad game. It works. All the mechanics are great. Even playing as the big daddy works (it is really a difference of a wrench or a drill). And I don't like it. I should like it but I don't. And after pondering it I have figured out why. It is pure fanservice. The game should not exist other than the fact fans clamored to play as a BD and reviewers all knocked it for the lack of MP. And now we got all that stuff and it only cost Bioshock its soul. |

You guys need to chill. Since EA exploded the DLC on disc thing, everyone's been doing it. That's the way it's going to be, you just gotta learn to live with what they give you on the disc, or pay for more. Not all DLC is going to be on the disk, just gotta live with the stuff that is. Besides, they could have left that stuff out entirely, but I'd much rather have the option to pay for it then have it not be there at all.

I would much rather download it then unlock it. Not everyone has been doing it, either. |

Oh they will. Give it time. The money is too good for them to pass up when they realize everyone's doing it. |

Hey I don't mind giving then the money they deserve. Unlocking something that is locked on the disc is not work they deserve to get paid for. Same deal with RE5. Shale is worth the 1200 points. The Cerberus Network is worth 1200 points (and as far as I am concerned has already paid for itself). Fear Reborn worth the investment. Maw map packs worth the investment. FX Pinball extra tables worth the investment. Borderlands DLC worth the investment. All of the Fallout DLC so worth it. All these games gave us worthwhile DLC. Code that the devs had to work on after the fact. I don't know why they bother with this lets lock stuff route to be perfectly frank. Why not cut out the middle man and sell us ingame codes to unlock it? You go to thier site pay your 5 bucks and they email you a code. Insert code into cheat menu get your "DLC". Then they don't have to split it with MS or Sony. Then we know which companies are legit and which ones are scams. |

I'd much rather have a game company treat me with some respect and stop thinking I'm just a dumb****. I am never going to support this practice and anyone who does is a sucker. When they put the content on the disk only to charge us gamers for it later, that is a dick move. Think of the arrogance required to do something like this, and we gamers are supposed to just put up with it? Imagine that you bought a book, and then while reading it noticed that at page 216 the rest of the chapter is missing; you would be pissed off. Now imagine that when you contacted the book publisher for an explanation, they admit that the content was indeed finished before the book was released, but that they just didn't have enough time to add it before the book went to the print shop. They tell you that every effort to add the content was made, but it simply couldn't be done in time for the scheduled release date; after all, you had already ordered a copy at B&N and so many people were anticipating the release. However, they are prepared to sell you this the missing pages of content, which they say '...isn't really all that important to the story overall, but rather supplemental to help flesh out the characters' for a small fee, etc... People would lose their shit. No reasonable person would tolerate this crap, nor would they just assume that this is simply the new way of things and that we should all just learn to accept it and quit complaining. Yet this is what we gamers do. Oh, we'll play FPS games and talk tough to others online, but when a game publisher pulls this shit, we all just bend over and take it? Well, fuck that, not me! We gamers really need to start sticking up for ourselves a little bit more and quit being such a bunch of p****s. In my opinion, cases such as this, especially those where the content is on the disk but locked until we fork out more money, should be brought to court in a class action lawsuit. We paid for the disk, and the right to use the the content included; having to spend extra money to unlock hidden content later should be illegal. Edited by thinkfreemind, Mar 14 2010, 12:39 AM.

Yeah, the book thing doesn't work so well. More along the lines of having to buy the deleted scenes from a movie that're on the DVD to view them. ;) |

What's the difference? They put this stuff on the disc specifically for paid DLC. Which means they did the same amount of work on that piece of DLC that they would have done if it had been released later. This way, it cuts down on the download size. Let's take oh I don't know, Point Lookout in Fallout 3 for example. Let's say they knew they were going to make it a paid add on even before they made it. Now at this point, imagine if the game wasn't out. Would it not be a smarter idea to create that DLC while they were still working on the actual game and stick it on to the disc? This way, they can release it quicker, still get paid for it, and greatly reduce the download size of the file all the while being able to work on an entirely new project without having to keep a team on Fallout 3. It's still the same DLC they would have released later, but with more perks for them. |

Ok. Imagine that these words (using the missing content example from above) were so small on the page that they couldn't be read, but the publisher offered to sell you a magnifying glass capable to revealing this content for your enjoyment. Or, perhaps they decided to use some sort of special invisible ink that requires a special marker to reveal, etc... Either way, it's all totally wrong, and it is no way to treat your customers with respect in hopes of their continued support. |

The game is always finished TFM. That book comparison is whack. What you buy is the finished product as the developers saw fit to create. The extra stuff on the disc would have been released for paid DLC later, even if it wasn't on the disc. You may own the piece of plastic, but the content is still owned by the company and it's up to them to decide what to do with it. |
