No daylight, I'm too weak to face it!
|
Is it their simplicity in production or their popularity that people seem to be hating on? |

I love them... I don't like Minutes 2 Midnight though... Don't know why people HATE them. |

I'm trying to figure it out myself. If I look at it comprehensively against many of the groups out there today, there are many bands I would choose to hate on prior to them if I were a hater. Granted, they don't vary much in their playing. They tend to stick to a similar formula for most of their songs. Their rhythm section also tends to be a bit stagnant. But I guess they just stick with what works for their audience. However, their melody choices in production and engineering their sound to have a hip hop hint in the drumming was smart to me.... I always assumed most folks hate them because they are popular or because they don't play stuff that is difficult to play. (something Metal heads seem to always hate on people for) |

I hate them for one big reason: Chester Bennington. It ain't THAT serious buddy, unclench your teeth for one minute, PLEASE. That guy's constant over-emoting and absolute crap lyrics overpower and kill the group for me (not that there's much to overpower since every song has been pretty much a rewrite of every other one up until M2M). Plus, Shinoda's one of the most promising producers out there and they hardly ever let that guy off the leash. He's completely wasted in that band. Edited by nate, Jan 22 2010, 03:55 PM.

yeah. His production I believe is the one thing that I actually dig about them. I remember when i first heard whatever album one of my soldiers put me onto. I asked him if they were using the same drum loop on every song. |

Been pimpin' since pimpin's been pimpin', pimpin'!

I agree that early LP is a little too angsty, especially now that They've released stuff like M2M, but I still love Chester. Dude's got some mad pipes. You really don't fully appreciate it until you see them live and he sounds just like a studio recording, screaming and all. But I've found myself gravitating toward new LP more and more, save for Reanimation, but that's a completely different beast than Meteora or Hybrid Theory. |

You can tell a difference between "SHUT UP WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!! SHUT UP!!! SHUT UUUUUP!!!!!!" and "GOOOOOOOOOD!!!! PUT ME OUT OF MY MIS-ER-RYYYY!!!!! PUT ME PUT ME OUT OF MY FOCKING MIS-ER-RY!!!!"? That's pretty impressive. |
