A long time ago a bunch of filthy know it all punk degenerates over ran a small farming community for the purposes of doing elicit drugs and rampant fornication in broad public view there was also some "music". It was generally considered by the general public as stupid and a huge mistake. Many years later a relative of mine donated some money during a public radio pledge drive, a mistake was made and the gift for the donation was sent instead of being redonated itself, this consisted mostly of cheap packaging and some dvds of the aformentioned event and one other item that redeems that whole lost wasteful generation. How you may be asking yourself? What could such a thing be? Well I'll put it simply puppies are terrified of the sounds tamborines make, those furry garden destroy crap rolls! Now vengeance is mine! Kill my lemon tree will they muahahahah. later there will be pictures of them added cowering in a corner with haunted dismay covering there oh so expressive little faces.

I can appreciate you enjoying what little horror you can inflict upon those puppies, but don't insult the hippies! Heck, I wish there were as big a movement today. The man has got most of us held down so tight we'd be afraid to take off a day from work or school to go to such an event as Woodstock, much less a week or so. Besides, if recent protests have shown us anything it's that Americans are now willing to sit back and watch their neighbors get beat down and harassed by martial law riot police, simply because they may not agree with the cause.

How silly. Anyone who disagrees with you isn't worthy of rights. What's the bumper sticker? "If you don't stand behind the troops, feel free to stand in front of them?" :whatever:

Um... You were agreeing with me, right?

As for those patriotic bumper stickers (patriotism in general really), I can't stand it. It all stems from the idea that we're better than everybody else in the world, which is something they teach you from the day you're born. America is the best at this, that, and the other. What a load of bull****. Even when presented with the facts about the metrics with which people from different countries are compared, such as health care, education, unemployment, poverty, EVEN HAPPINESS; these patriotic idiots will not admit that America isn't the best. America is never at the top! In fact, most of the time we're barely bringing up the rear of every other major industrialized country.

How pathetic a country is America?

We're so pathetic that we've let one of our most precious cities, Detroit, become a modern day ghost town, because the people in charge of the auto companies just will not quit making big gas guzzling trucks and SUVs.

We're so pathetic that 1 in every 8 people in this country is currently on food stamps.

We're so pathetic that, as a people, we can't get our government to leave an extremely costly war which less than 20% even support anymore.

We're so pathetic that a recent poll has shown that 51% of the population is willing to give up their "freedoms" and/or privacy for increased protection from terrorists; of which they have less of a chance of being killed by than a lightning strike.

We're so pathetic that, we are fine with the fact that less than 50% of high school kids (in some of the major cities) are graduating. Nobody cares about their child's education anymore. How can they? With so many broken homes, many single parents are working multiple jobs to provide for their families, and of the families that are still together the vast majority now have both parents working.

We're so pathetic that we have allowed businesses in this country to ship our jobs overseas to foreign workers. This of course has multiple advantages for us, as not only do we constantly lose jobs and face rising unemployment levels, but with so many people out of work it allows our employers to eliminate full time employment, overtime, benefits, pensions, health care coverage, etc.., because they know that they have us between a rock and a hard place. Oh, I guess those aren't advantages huh? Well at least we can buy the stuff that we used to make dirt cheap at Walmart! Thank goodness, for a second there I believed there really was no upside, whew.

I could go on and on, but I think the point has been made. Also, I'm sorry to have hijacked this thread.

Yes. Remember the big fallout I had the other night with my family that put me in a bad mood in the RPG thread? It stemmed from that discussion and the idea that people who don't agree with you are worthless and undeserving of the same rights and protections. And it masquerades as patriotism.

Nah the hippies all became yuppies and sold out. Not only destroying everything they claimed to believe but also ruining any chance of a mass revival. It's a shame to cause some of it was pretty decent.
