Wow. This game has a lot of promise in the early stages.

Combat is fluid, interaction with NPCs is fluid, spell casting system is tight, etc. The leveling and customization system is fleshed out very well. There also appear to be several high level monsters in the world that will own you if you don't level before reaching their areas. I like that. None of this level scaling nonsense.

The graphics are pretty, but the framerate does suffer. it's not as bad as the demo and slightly better if you load the game to the hard drive, but it still has issues. if this is an issue for you I just want you to be aware that it does sputter at times. From reading the dev's site, there will be a patch that fixes several issues the game has (none that I've run into) I will assume that framerate will be addressed as well.

On a special note, the music in this game is outstanding. It changes based on the situation and is very dynamic. It also fits each different situation. And thank our Lord Jesus for the fact that there is no corny-hyper-bad-metal music during the battle sequences. You know.... the kind JRPGs LOVE to employ and the kind I love to HATE! none of that here so far.

Thus far, I've finished the first major mission and am sidequesting. having a good time with it!!!! I recommend it for folks who enjoyed Two Worlds or Oblivion and can put up with a less than awesome framerate. 8)

The quest log system is adequate. Much better than Two Worlds and just as good as Oblivion so far as I can see. Still waiting to get further to assess the map.

For achievement hoes, the achievements are very straight forward and all quest related. Also, praise be to the Lord for the fact that there are NO "Go and find 300 of some obscure item" quests. :yay:

Oh, and this game truly rewards explorers. I love that aspect. They actually reward you for scouring the land unlike so many other games. So dope!!!

I might get this if I make up my mind on the new Lunar remake.

A simple hack-n-slash this game is not. I have been served many times thus far and am loving it. You actually have to strategize your way in and out of fights at lower levels since you will be outgunned and outleveled when you venture out into the world.

There is a tinge of humor in the story and the characters are actually interesting thus far. The story veils itself to the point where you don't really know who is good or evil this early in the game.

I will say it again, mind the framerate issues. If this bothers you, be aware that it is noticeable in many areas.

Oh, and so far, map navigation is whack compared to Oblivion. 8)

Just one question. Does the game when it is on the disc chug like it did in the demo?

Chug?
Stutter, not run smoothly, have terrible framerate. The first thing I noticed in the demo was the beautiful opening scene with the clouds as the camera slowly tried to pan. The second thing I noticed was the camera couldn't do it and stuttered which turned me right off.

Oh. Yeah. It chugs at certain points. It doesn't seem nearly as bad when playing on the HDD. The cutscenes thus far haven't had the framerate problems that the game has in play.

I never realized that you were a stickler for framerate. Good to know for future recommendations I make. 8)

I don't care how good or bad the art direction is. It can look like something from an old Atari and I will enjoy it. Give me a game with bad framerate though and it just pisses me off.
