Dolphin Gun, Destroyer of Worlds

Talk about them, or list them. I think I'll pick a few from each year. 2000 -The Sims: I played the hell outta this game. It ran poorly on our computer, but I managed to enjoy it. -Perfect Dark: One of my all-favorite games that I still play to this day. -Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2: A great game with an awesome licensed soundtrack. This was the game that introduced me to Public Enemy. 2001 -Gran Turismo 3: This was my first PS2 game. I got the special GT3 bundle. I spent many, many hours playing this game. -GTA3: The first GTA game that was actually good. I never finished it, but there was no point when messing around was way more fun. -Super Smash Bros Melee: I spent over 180 hours playing this game. The multiplayer was so much fun. 2002 -GTA Vice City: My favorite game in the series, and one that set the standard for licensed soundtracks. -Mafia: A very challenging, (somewhat) realistic game with an incredible storyline. -Sly Cooper: A fun platformer with a unique style. Too bad the graphics bothered me, or else I would have bought the sequels. 2003 -Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic: A great RPG from Bioware with a very interesting and surprising story. -Max Payne 2: A sequel that improved on the original in every conceivable way except the story. -Ratchet & Clank Going Commando: Its not the most challenging game, but it still manages to be fun as hell. 2004 -Katamari Damacy: A novel game with very catchy music. -Tales of Symphonia: Its got every cliche in the book, but the battle system and bosses more then make up for its flaws. -Star Ocean Til The End of Time: The storyline is kinda boring, but the combat was great once I got the hang of it. 2005 -FEAR: A genuinely scary shooter with incredible AI. 2006 -Mother 3: A game that is brilliant in almost every single way. Nintendo had no interest in releasing it in English, but a group of very dedicated fans took care of that. The result is a translation that puts many commercially translated Japanese games to shame. -The Elder Scrolls Oblivion: The standard game is not that great, but the mods for the PC version turn it into the game that it should have been. There's even a mod that changes the leveling to a more traditional one with experience points. -FF XII: This is my favorite PS2 game. I don't care for the story that much, but everything else is freaking awesome. I wish more FF games had the exploration this one does. 2007 -Persona 3: I had to play the fourth game before the game clicked with me, but I was to able to enjoy it after that. This game would have my favorite translation if it weren't for the use of Japanese honorifics. -Call of Duty 4: A short, and very sweet shooter. The game also features a huge multiplayer mode. -Portal: This is my favorite game of the decade. I only played through it once, but it was a fantastic game. 2008 -Fallout 3: I was not a big fan of the main campaign, but the other parts were great. -Tales of Vesperia: Namco finally gives a Tales game a good translation. I enjoyed this game immensely the first time through, but I struggled with a second run of it. 2009 Halo 3 ODST: My favorite Halo game. There is not a single level in this game that I dislike, unlike the previous games. Edited by doomer, Jan 1 2010, 11:39 PM.

Holy crap! This is going to take some time to figure out. Nice list too! Vice City, Katamari, Portal and Fallout 3 are pretty much guaranteed to make my list as well. |

You do realize you just said you hated all the levels, right? Anyway, I don't know specific years games come out, so I'll just make a Top 20 list of games for the past 10 years. Three games that would've made it but got disqualified: Final Fantasy IV DS (too hard to draw the line between ports and remakes and didn't want to go into that), Rune Factory Frontier (too similar to Rune Factory 2 to really place accurately), Valkyria Chronicles (guaranteed slot, but since I'm not done, I can't really tell how high it'll be (most likely Top 10 at least)). 21. Picross 20. Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal 19. The World Ends With You 18. Warcraft III 17. Flower 16. Paper Mario (edited in) 15. Final Fantasy X 14. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow 13. Civilization IV 12. World of Goo 11. Tales of Symphonia 10. Rune Factory 2 9. Ratchet and Clank 8. Xenosaga Episodes I-III 7. Metal Gear Solid 3 6. Professor Layton and the Curious Village 5. Final Fantasy XII 4. Super Mario Galaxy 3. Pokemon Diamond 2. Persona 3 FES 1.Dragon Quest VIII Man, that list was murder to rank. Finding the 20 wasn't too hard with the disqualifications, but putting them in order was tough. I love em all like they were my babies. I'm pretty dissatisfied with that Top 3 ranking, but they can't all 3 be number one, so it'll have to stand. :whatever: Edited by nate, Jan 2 2010, 04:00 PM.

Oh, I forgot Kingdom Hearts. Not KHII though ;) As far as DQ8 goes, still haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I am sure it would be on my list. Tales of Symphonia I never finished, and I am sure that would also be on my list lol. |

Yup, came out in 2001. I don't know if it was the last N64 game ever made, but it should've been. End that piece on a high note. |

2000 Perfect Dark - My cousins owned this game on the 64. We used to wear multiplayer OUT back at the house with 4 player versus. The railgun made for some great times. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - Wore this game out on Dreamcast when I was still sporadically gaming. Shenmue - I loved and hated this horrible masterpiece. 2001 Final Fantasy X - As much as I hate to admit it because this game annoyed me... It had a certain charm to it that made me keep coming back to it until I finally finished it in 2003. 2002 Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind - I didn't play it until 2004, but I really enjoyed it. I need to finally finish it. 2003 Final Fantasy X-2 - This game was my official entry back into playing videogames on a regular basis. I had just gotten home from the war and one of my men was an avid gamer and RPG lover. He let me borrow X-2 from him saying that based on my tastes I would dig it. I did. Even my wife played thru this joint and she doesn't game for nada! 2004 Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - The reason I bought a Gamecube. I enjoyed the additions they brought to this game like the first person shooter mode. (I bought the gamecube that came with the Zelda combo pack. I think that is a collector's item) Tales of Symphonia - Game had a certain charm to it. I hated the game during the last 10hrs because I was just ready to get it over with cuz it was dragging on. (A staple in the two tales games I've played) But the overall experience was a good one. 2006 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - The reason I bought a 360. Oblivion alone was enough to justify the purchase. I logged over 200hrs in that sucka. Sure, they made some poor moves with it like making the monsters level with you... But the overall game was a masterpiece and usually stays around my Top 3 RPGs ever played and Top 10 videogames ever played. Final Fantasy XII - Best in the series, thus far. I loved the combat system. I dug the leveling/customization system, etc. To me, the Gambit system should become the new standard for turn based RPGs. I loved it that much. No more micromanaging my teammates during battle. The story was aight and I don't remember any of the characters annoying me, so that was a plus. 2007 Crackdown - Sandbox shoot-em-up. Just what I needed at the time. Platforming was good. Combat was good. And blowing up drug lords has never been funner! Can't wait till part 2 comes out. The Orange Box - Great deal and a good amount of fun was had. As much as I hate puzzle games, Portal was dope. I guess I dug it because the FOCUS was puzzling. Maybe I just hate games that add puzzles as an afterthought filler. But the concept of Portal was outstanding. Mass Effect - Still the #1 contender. ME was an outstanding ride from start to finish. Star Ocean First Departure - We finally get to enjoy this game. And enjoy it I did on my PSP. It's dated, but the characters and storyline were enjoyable to watch. I hated that so much was left unanswered though. I wish they would do a remake of that and Second Story on 360 and flesh it out fully. I'd cop it. Two Worlds - Say what you want about graphics and framerate. This game was dope to me. I loved the combat, leveling, customization system and exploration. All my favorite things to do in an RPG were delivered via an adventure that I got to flesh out in the direction I wanted. It doesn't get better than that. I know I'm usually unimpressed by game stories, but I dug this one. Because it was horrible on purpose. They basically poked fun at every other RPG in existence. I can dig a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and cracks a few jokes while saving people from peril. 2008 Fable II - Wow, what a game. I loved every minute of that joint. It did so many things right. Fixed so many of my frustrations with other RPGs. I will say that the navigation system and the save system SUCKED! But overall, the game was great. Strange that I hated the first one. Crisis Core FF7 - Simply outstanding. Zack is my favorite character in the series. 2009 Shadow Complex - Metroid on crack. The original Metroid is probably my #2 favorite game of all time. make a new version of it with sweet visuals and new weapons and you have a winner. Dragon Age Origins - This game was a joy to play. Addictive gameplay and a host of strategic options to control your party without micromanagement in combat. I call it the gambit system on crack. The story and characters left quite a bit to be desired, but the gameplay was dope! Edited by TSL, Jan 4 2010, 10:22 AM.

As much as I said I hated FFX-2, man the gameplay was AWESOME and probably one of the only reasons I finally finished it. |
