And this from the guy who said 808s and Heartbreak was going to be a trainwreck. :D
And how wrong I was! It only ended up being the most forward thinking pop album of its decade. 8)

Yeah, you thought it would suck and loved it. I thought it could be fantastic and hate it. Clearly, when it comes to predicting Kanye album quality, we're not the world's best. It's all I'm saying there.

As to seperating the man from the music, I don't get it. I don't know Kanye personally. The large majority of what I do know about Kanye is through the music. So when I say I hate Kanye, I'm talking about the persona he's got in his music. That, I can't seperate. It's half the equation of the song.

Dammit all...it's official.

Envy's Recitation is the cheesiest album of the year.

This is what you call jumping the shark.

I cannot get over how goofy the continuous "The First Noel" riff is on "Rain Clouds Running in a Holy Night" and how out of place "Dreams Coming to an End" sounds on an Envy record, much less how "Light and Solitude" sounds like a goddamn soundtrack to someone's first kiss.

This Kanye praise is getting ridiculous. It seems every publication is in a race to heap more accolades upon it than the previous just so they don't look like the one who didn't "get it." It's seeming less like it's that good and more like no one actually likes it that much, they just don't want to be the one who says it.

Or maybe it really is album of the century.

Albums of 2011:

That new Decemberists song is pretty good. It's different. And for a group that is typically different, that actually makes it normal. It reminds me of Bruce Springsteen, honestly.

I've got a good feeling that J Cole disc is slipping to 2011. :(

Kweli is still pushing back his solo CD. In the meanwhile, he's going to release another solo CD. Yup. New Kweli digital CD in January. (Still never bought that Reflection Eternal 2 disc...)

Wait...I thought Detox got turned into whatever those last two and a half albums he released that no one talks about anymore were.

Oh well. Whatever.

You're mixing artists up. Detox is Dre, the others are Eminem. And while Relapse has proven forgettable, Recovery is still killing it. Em's shown he's back to old form and can actually rap about serious material again, as opposed to the silly "Slim Shady" isht that he got back to on Encore and Relapse.

Oh, I see. Here's a bigger question...

Dre is still relevant enough to release an album?

People forgot about Dre a decade ago when he had to remind everyone he was still alive, what's he gonna do to remind us he's still alive now?

Same way as last time. Produce derivative beats with loud enough bass that no one cares and hire the hottest rappers in the game to ghostwrite your lyrics. ;)
