So, music slated for next year that I'm looking forward to that will for sure come out: Transference by Spoon The Golden Archipelago by Shearwater Congratulations by MGMT How I Got Over by The Roots Master's Hand by Charlotte Gainsbourg (I quite like the leading single she did with Beck) New album from The National (!!!) Music that someone said might maybe perhaps come out: New Joanna Newsom New Portishead |

Where dreams come to come true.

Vampire Weekend have a new one scheduled for January. I'm going to curb my expectations. I can't shake the feeling that we're looking at a Violent Femmes/Strokes/any other band with a great debut to never follow up on it with Vampire Weekend. Hopefully I'm wrong. :) |

I sure hope not. Their debut had a few great tracks and they have a cool sound going on, but on the whole was kinda uneven. It was one of those "Good start, but I hope they manage to perfect it next time around" albums for me. SO, here's hoping.... |

I'm looking forward to RJD2 and Spoon in January. I'm also looking forward to Social Distortion going back into the studio for the first time since 04. |

Is RJD2's going to be another pop album, or a hip-hop one? |

I could not tell you from the lead single. It's not him singing pop music, but it didn't sound like it was off Deadringer, either. |

Pitchfork did a run down of noteworthy early 2010 releases: http://pitchfork.com/news/37446-the-pitchfork-guide-to-upcoming-releases-winter-2010/ I thought 'Wolf People' said 'Wolf Parade' for a minute, and I was sad when I realized I was wrong. :( |

Well, at least 2010 won't keep letting me down with lackluster albums. It's just not gonna have anything for me to get, period. |

Right? Q1 2010 looks to be even dryer than early 2009 (or 2009 period, for that matter) felt for me, and that's not good. |

Where dreams come to come true.

A few of the Japanese bands I started following last summer are back to work and have new stuff coming out this year. New Andymori cd comes out in February, but the lead single isn't doing much for me. School Food Punishment finally have a full length album coming out, but judging on the overall dullness of their past single or two, I'll pass on it, but I am really digging the new Sakanaction single, "A Look Around" is pretty solid and I like it quite a bit. It has more of a flair the stuff on Night Fishing had that their last album kind of lacked a bit in. Hopefully the American iTunes store gets this song. I don't really think anyone else will dig it, but whatever. Edited by goodlucksaturday, Jan 10 2010, 07:05 PM.
