Just saw this tonight. I had very mixed feelings about it. The first half was this incredibly well done film. The second was just action ZOMG THAT GUY DISINTEGRATED. It really felt like this well thought through, interesting sci-fi commentary mixed with crap action fan service and unnecessary gore. Overall, I dunno how I liked it. The first half had me thinking this was one of my new favourite films. By the end I didn't even like the film and was checking my watch to see when it'd end. Overall, I'm left with more negative than positive towards it. And can someone explain to me what the hell Christopher Johnson did on Earth for three stupid months while his people starved? And why his dumb ass only brought enough fuel to go down and not return? Edited by nate, Jan 30 2010, 08:56 PM.

I don't think they ever clarified why the ship came to earth in the first place, but my guess is the ejection of that control center/pod was unintentional or an automatic function of the ship? They mentioned that most the leadership had died and that the majority of the prawns left were dumb worker ant types. I'm guessing Christopher Johnson was one of the surviving leaders and he had spent all that time pillaging the dumps to get enough fuel to get back to the ship and go for help. |

He had to be in the ship that was ejected. Cause otherwise he would've been able to reprogram the mother ship to go back from the get go. And what're the odds he was just chilling in the ship when it gets randomly detached?

Hmmm...well the pod that detached was needed to operate the mother ship. He could have been brought down to the surface with all the other prawns when the humans broke in. idk There's a million different scenarios that could be plausible. I thought I heard from somewhere they were already making the sequel. Maybe we'll get answers then.. |

I don't buy it. It seemed like a thrown together cover plot. "As we were visiting Earth, the one essential part to our ship just happened to fall out. But hey, luckily it's a ship you can use to fly back to the main ship! It's just we never gas our spare ships. But then again, our fuel does somehow turn people into our species, so it's probably for the best!" I looked more into the movie and found out what happened though. It was a short film first. The short film is basically the first half, just basic social commentary. Then they built an action movie and cover plot around that core. |
