This afternoon I got a call from NewEgg.com telling me that my credit card had been used to buy an Xbox 360 earlier today. So I told them that it wasn't me who made that purchase and they said I should contact the credit card company to let them know. While I was calling, I went online to check my recent activity and found some other charges which seemed to have started a couple weeks ago. They tell me that there are even more recent things that I couldn't see online, the majority of which seemed to be payments for what I can only guess are pre-paid phone cards. I could see two $20 charges to Verizon, but my CC company said that there were more charges for $50 and $100 also.

I got them to close the account of course and they'll send me a new card and all. I asked them about the charges made that weren't mine and they said that after the investigation team looks at them, if they are determined that they weren't made by me (well duh!) that I would see a credit on my account and get that money back. After hanging up with them, I checked my other cards online and they seem to be fine, so hopefully it was just a single card incident. I really hope it was just a single card incident anyways. I'll probably call my other CC companies to let them know and ask them to inform me of anything, or to see if there is anything that can be done as a preventative measure.

Perhaps the worst part is knowing that I am now just another statistic.

You should change your password on newegg immediately and notify the credit bureau.

Ya, that's one of the reason I like Credit cards, you're 99% sure to be covered by screw ups like that.

I don't even remember ever setting up a NewEgg account. I tried logging in, but I couldn't, so I said that I forgot my password to see if they say that I did indeed have an account with them. As they were using my CC information for other things though, I don't think it was NewEgg itself that would be the problem. I'm taking your advice anyways. I've also run a scan on my PC to make sure I don't somehow have a keylogger or something on my computer. I've also changed my Gmail password, just in case, as well.
