Been pimpin' since pimpin's been pimpin', pimpin'!
Yeah... This guy is quite possibly the biggest influence of my professional life thus far. He was my Athletic Trainer at my High School and I came back to work with him a lot over the past 2 years in school. He was the reason that I am pursuing Athletic Training. He had been on the decline for a couple years now (he had terminal lung cancer), but we all thought he had another year or two left with us. After some last-resort experimental treatment he quickly went downhill. I found out from a couple friends today that he passed on earlier today.

This has just drained me. I almost never cry over deaths, but this one has me tearing up, even as I type this. I hate thinking about the fact that I'm never going to be able to work with him again. It also sucks because the last time I talked to him was in March at a wrestling tournament, and he was fine (all things considered) then.

One thing that is really cool, though, is the fact that a faculty member at my old HS is setting up a Scholarship fund in his name for prospective Athletic Training students. I'm doing what I can to help solicit donations from former colleagues and students who have worked with him like me (though the latter is a long shot).

I can't begin to imagine what that's like for lack of anyone like that in my life. Sorry for your loss :(

Well, you'll just have to keep him in your memories and remember him as your inspiration in pursuit of the same career path.
