I started playing Assassins Creed 2, and I noticed 2 plot holes at the very beginning of the game: 1) Desmund says that he was not aware that assassins existed prior to being kidnapped by Abstergo. In the first game, however, he said that he spent years on a farm that served as a training facility for assassins when he was a child. He had to know that assassins existed prior to being kidnapped by Abstergo because he was trained as one. 2) Lucy says that they have about 10 minutes to escape before the guards will come and try to kill them for whatever she has done. She insists that, before they leave, Desmond get in the animus to find another ancestor of Desmund. When you arrive at the hide out for the assassins, however, you discover that they have an animus. If they were so pressed for time, why did she risk using the Abstergo animus instead of just finding another ancestor on the animus at the assassins hide out? If you use the one at the assassins hide out, you do not need to rush because you are not under such a strict time limit. This baffles me. IT strikes me as INCREDIBLY stupid that she would do this. I also had a thought. Just how many of Ezio's abilities are going to be of use to Desmund against modern day technology? I imagine a lot of his skills were not created with things like guns in mind., Shouldn't a lot of Desmund's assassin skills be very different from those of Ezio? How much help is learning the skills through the bleeding affect going to be if they do not apply to modern technology because they were not designed for it? I cannot help but wonder at this, and it makes the play feel...well...kind of stupid. Once I got past the opening, though, and started playing as Ezio, the game got a lot better. It feels like it will be a lot less repetitive than the first Assasins Creed was, and Ezio has a much better voice actor than Altair in the first game. At least he attempts an accent. He seems like a stronger character as well. Then again, that isn't hard. Altair had no personality. |

God Almighty, Phantom Brave is an UGLY game. These sprites would look bad on a PSOne. Also, it controls horribly. Selecting an enemy should not be this difficult. :? |

but 360 degrees movement is much better than grids isn't it :) |

I don't know if you're being facetious or not. I prefer the grid because I just take the d-pad and move it to the grid I need. Here I've got to hone a stupid ass cursor in on an enemy that it'll just as soon glance off of as select. |

Really? Huh. Honestly, it just seems like a gimmick to me. I don't feel like the movement feels any more open (just now circle shaped instead of square), you lose precision, and it doesn't even create a more realistic looking field of battle since it's the same style stage, just minus a grid overlay. |

Started Chocobo Tales. Kind of a quirky title. It was only $5 at GameStop, so no big loss if it sucks. It's all minigames and such, which run the gamut from fun to frustrating. Story, graphics and music are all lots of fun, though. Edit: No thanks. "You need 5 more cards to continue." To which I respond, you need 5 more games that are fun to play. I'll pass. 2 hours is plenty. This game just isn't fun enough to keep playing. Maybe I'll play VII or XII instead. Edited by nate, Apr 7 2011, 02:34 PM.

Started Baten Kaitos Origins. Not too pleased with it so far. One, it's ugly. That's a big one. Half the reason I loved the original was because the environments were so incredible. Two, the battle system is completely overhauled to be streamlined, and yet, also far more complicated. I'm not a fan. I think I just don't like RPGs anymore. I'm getting a little worried. |

Play some non RPG and come back... you'll crave RPG after a while. At least I do. |

The last 4 games I played were Trine, God of War 3, Resistance, and Ratchet and Clank, though. :( |

Well, good news is I'm more into BKO. I've finally figured out how the new battle system works, and it's pretty cool. The environments are still your usual dun colored buildings and cliffs, though, so what happened there that we lost all those gorgeous sets from last time? Plus, the plot has kicked in now, so I'm into that. Much like that last game, it feels like a PSOne era RPG, just with sharper graphics. :D |

Christ. This battle system is cool, but also a pain in the neck. Battles last WAAAAAY too long at 3-5 minutes. And the frustrating thing is its ATB card battling. Meaning you need to be flying and can't actually bother to strategize properly. Honestly, I think I'm racking this up as yet ANOTHER loss. Am I on the world's worst streak or what? :? |

Here's my problem, I think: I've beaten all the games I really wanted to. My backlog is basically cleared out of all the major games I wanted to beat. So now I'm left with the things I quit or never got around to playing because I didn't really care. Same with my To Buy list. I've bought all the things I really wanted and now I'm down to compulsion or curiosity buys. 90% of what I own and have been meaning to play or beat are games I've started and been either bored with or didn't really like. Probably a good 2/3 of my To Buy list are from franchises I feel obliged to continue following or games that've been hyped enough to pique my curiosity. |
