I'm sitting outside the final dungeon in FF: 4 Heroes of Light. Have been for a while. Don't want to go in. I get to refight stronger versions of all the bosses, they strip me of my jobs (only to be earned back piecemeal by beating the bosses) and it's gigantic. I really enjoyed the rest of the game, but I'm really dreading this stupid dungeon. I want to just call it beat and not even bother. :( /  |

I am still traversing the wasteland of New Vegas. This game is just as fun as Fallout 3 so far and even though I am more than 20 hours into this game, I still do not feel as though I have even scratched the surface of what is available to be done. The map may be smaller, but that doesn't mean there is any less content to explore. Let me tell you that this game is a lot more difficult than Fallout 3, and not just because I am playing on hardcore mode. The creatures in this game will kill you quick! Not the ghouls, but major enemies such as giant radscorpions are very frightening and insanely fast. There are two other enemies that I have only read about on Gamefaqs, which I have still not come across (because I haven't headed north yet) that sound even more difficult to kill. I will worry about that when it happens though. As for the hardcore mode, I should say that it hasn't proven to be too overwhelming, except for one thing, that thing being BROKEN LIMBS! In Fallout 3 (or in this game without HC mode turned on) all broken limbs could be healed with stimpacks. In hardcore mode, doctor's bags are required to heal broken limbs, and they can be pricey. Also, limbs are broken much more easily, I think, with HC mode turned on; so sometimes all it might take is one good hit and an arm will be broken, or one hidden mine to cripple half of your body. To be honest, if I enter a room and get instantly blown to bits, I'll often reload the automatic quicksave from just after my entering that area. I do this in order to save my valuable doctor's bags for when I am traveling the wastes and can't afford to hobble on a broken leg forever in order to make it to one of the (only) two doctors I have come across in the game so far. I know I just made HC mode sound bad, but the other things you have to deal with, such as sleep, hunger and dehydration levels are not too bad at all. Just carry some water, or take advantage of free water sources and food found in various refrigerators and you'll be fine. All of these things add to the realism in a good way; yes, even the broken limbs. Glitches: I have found one. There is a trader who will freeze your console if you try to buy any of his cards for sale. This is a known issue, so hopefully it will get fixed. Also, I got stuck in a shack while jumping up to a certain area, which forced me load a quicksave and replay about a couple of minutes of dialogue. This is also a known issue, but I wouldn't look for it to be fixed, as it is only a problem for those of us who like to jump on things to make sure that we're exploring everything. ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS SHIT??? An hour long final boss battle. I had him close to death on his last form (when is this annoying trend going to die?) and he starts to spam his ultimate attack. Twice a turn. Every turn. It was literally impossible for my healer to keep pace. Then to be alive. And then I got to watch my two melee fighters die as I hoped each attack would end the battle. Nope. And this is WITH the elemental reduction spell that I used a crappy class for the sole purpose of having in play. (B may have been wrong about having to have the "right" party in FFIII, but it absolutely applies to this game. If you don't use Elementalist, go home. Apparently, I should've been using Bard, too.) He couldn't have had but 1,000 or so HP left either. An hour gone. Well, here's to hoping he'll still be in his third form when I run all the way back through the longest dungeon ever from town. Nope. This is the absolute last Final Fantasy game I will buy. I'm so over this series and its bullshit. God knows why I put up with it for so long (God: "Graphics and production value!"). |

lol... glitches are to be expected, it's using Fallout 3's engine after all :P and how's the water in this one, it is all radiated? that would be pretty annoying. |

Exactly. This game, as I said earlier, is the quintessential FF. It has all the highs and lows of the series. It kind of makes for a good swan song, honestly. |

No, not all of the water. There are a few places to get clean water. Also, you can carry around bottles of purified water as well. However, there is also plenty of radiated water as well, from dirty sinks and such, in addition to bottles of dirty water. The dirty water will give you a few rads to get rid of, but that isn't much of a problem at all, so long as you stay well stocked with as many Rad-Away packs as you can find. The area of the game I am currently exploring is an entirely radiated town. I have a rad-suit on and I am using Rad-X to give myself 85% immunity, but it still adds up, so my stockpile of Rad-Away is dwindling fast. |

Picked up Costume Quest. I like to have fun with holidays and since I hate horror and creepy stuff, this + Charlie Brown + Halloween cupcakes seemed like a good way to have fun this weekend. :D |

Dolphin Gun, Destroyer of Worlds

Plus it's made by Double Fine, so if it plays like crap you'll still enjoy the rest immensely. |

Yeah, if anyone else picks this up, make sure you talk to all the NPCs. This game's hilarious at times. :joker: |

Fallout New Vegas is quite possibly the most frustrating game I've ever played. I just finished up one of the possible endings and lemme tell you, I've never had to use the load button so much in all my life. This game is hard as crap. You'll be scavenging a camp, minding your own business and BAM dead. There are so many giant radscorpians, so many Deathclaws, so many of these green hornet things that all kill you in a few hits no matter what level you're at. Not to mention the power suit crazy enemies at the end of the game. I died a ridiculous amount of times. Vegas is about 100 times more difficult than Fallout 3. |

FML. I decided I'd give the last boss one more chance since, overall, I had more fun than frustration with what was mostly a charming game. Equipped the one class who can flee battles and made my way through the whole dungeon again (god knows why we STILL cannot put goddamned save points in front of bosses). Got to the final battle and realized... F%*^!! I forgot to switch the class back. Well, that's 15 minutes wasted. Should've learned my lesson. :( |

I played an hour of that tonight. Got the Mew and beat Ecutreak. That was about all I could take before poking around the internet aimlessly seemed less boring than continuing to play this game. 9 1/2 hours in. Halfway done, hopefully? |
