Picked up Arkham Asylum for $20 at GameStop during one of their sales. I've been waiting for it to price drop ever since the GOTY version was announced. Anyway, that game is ADDICTIVE. I sat down this morning to play and got up many hours later. I'm playing on Hard mode (one thing I can thank the PS3 for, it made me realize I kind of rock at video games now, so I can up my difficulty) and it's a blast. I've had to redo a couple of situations a number of times, but nothing frustrating and no dead ends so far. |

These bosses are really disappointing. I haven't really gone mano-a-mano with a single one and I'm getting pretty close to the end. Some are platforming stages, some are fight the goons while the boss just stands there watching and some are dodge the boss so that he runs into a wall then hit him. And then there's the random ass search the maze while hitting the boss with a batarang whenever he shows up. Yeah, it's basically Whack-a-Mole in a maze. It's really, really disappointing to have your pick of the Batman rogues gallery and turn in these boss fights. :( Still, other than that, this game kicks a whole lot of ass. It's definitely got the feeling of being Batman down to an art. |

Do you like Batman? The game kind of banks on that. Because, if Batman was a video game, this is the game he'd be. It mixes perfectly his stealth, his gadgets, his cast and his combat. The tone is a little more Bioshock than I'd like, but it's a fair interpretation of Gotham. |

I'm cool with Batman. I think it may be the stealth and gadgets part mixed with the quasi-puzzly approach that some encounters had that turned me away. My favorite Batman video game was that old action platformer on NES. I guess as I reach senility, I just don't care for games to give me alotta of moving parts to manage. Different gadgets for different moves and jumps. Stealth, etc... Just give me my sword, my shield and my wits and turn me loose. I find that even games like Oblivion that gave me a plethora of ways to fight never motivated me to fight using any other methods other than sword swinging and magic for healing. I could see enjoying the game better if I was a bigger batman fan. I never thought of it like that. |

The final boss of this stupid freaking game? Beat up near endless waves of enemies until you can drag down the Joker, punch him once and then fight another near endless wave. Rinse and repeat. This joins other fun fights as "fight the two boss characters who rush you that you need to dodge while fighting a literal endless wave of enemies" and "fight one boss character who rushes you while fighting an endless wave of enemies in a tiny room where it's ridiculously difficult to dodge." This game has one, ONE worthwhile boss fight (Poison Ivy). And then a whole helluvalot of piss you off for the last 2 hours. Great game for the first 3/4, then it starts to get a little reptitive, then it pisses you off to the point where you're wondering, how much do I really give a damn about beating this final boss? |

That's why I quit playing Tomb Raider. Can't stand fights where the ONLY way you can win is if the enemy makes a mistake. Where they stack the odds against you to the point that random programming shifts in the enemy's ability are what eventually allow you to win. |

The end of Mario RPG sucks. Bowser's Castle is one of the worst levels I've played (whoever came up with the quiz corridors, the constant battle corridors and the platforming corridors should be drawn and quartered) and then you hit a boss who can put you to sleep and then whittle away everyone's health so that you go from full power to Game Over. Awesome. One of these days, I'm gonna play an RPG whose last level isn't godawful and it's going to blow my mind. Edit: Yep, that wasn't a fluke. He has a full party attack that incapacitates everyone and then I can just set down the controller and watch everyone die from full health. This is the EXACT thing Suikoden Tierkreis pulled. Ridiculously easy game decides to make a luck based boss to try and increase the difficulty. And turns out there's a final final dungeon after this (presumably with bosses they pull out of their asses considering I'm fighting the big bad we've been worried about all game right now). Square, you suck. I'm done with your games. Edited by nate, Jul 25 2010, 11:26 AM.

Morrowind - I WILL FINISH IT THIS TIME Chrono Trigger - I WILL FINISH IT THIS TIME Fantasy Warrior Legend - I might not finish it. I'm assessing what I believe is the company trying to hustle me out of money. I think they rig the end so that you HAVE to buy DLC to finish it without grinding for hours and hours. If that's the case, I will NOT finish it and it's gonna get slammed when I review it. Assassins Creed 2 - casually playing when I have time After I finish these, I'll hit up P3FES and finish it and I'm gonna cop Lunar Silver Star Harmony so that I can have it and I'll play it once I finish FF1 and FF2 on PSP. |

Odin sphere is pissing me off with the cheap ass bosses/enemies, but I can't put it down for some reason :( and the game is longer than I thought too, and pretty repetitive. |
