Good stuff. 2:40 in and finally ready to move onto the 2nd floor (explored every nook and cranny of this multiple times over except the one door I can't unlock).

Quoting limited to 6 levels deep
Ya it is on. When I play it in HD I get a red fuzz on the screen. Believe me man I got the opening intro ingrained in my brain from testing it. I tried every resolution and it looked the best in 480. The biggest problem is remembering to set it back. It makes the XMB look terrible in 480. And I have forgotten to set it back a couple times then wonder why it looks so drastically different.

I wonder if I can get DiscWorld 2 running in HD. That could be awesome.

Oh and I am running FF9 in 16:9 so I wonder if that makes a difference.
Yeah, I'd think 16:9 would have a pretty negative effect since the picture is being stretched to fit the screen. I guess it depends on what you can live with, black bars on each side of the screen or less than stellar image quality.
Its a PS1 game I am not looking for stellar. I would much rather drop it down then deal with the black bars that is for sure. They make me feel like I am only seeing half the screen. I just thought they would account for HDtvs and make the changes needed when they port games like that.
They should. Since it costs them nothing to merely upload the game to SONY's servers - or however that works. But, I guess they can't argue with 100% profit on a game that has already payed for its development costs.
Just when my opinion of Sony levels off I discover some new wack thing they do to hose thier customers. I don't get Sony Fanboys out of all three. Sony just seems to want to crap all over us and then use our money to wipe thier asses. If it wasn't for the amount of money I have invested in PSN it would be going in for a 360 slim.
It is a straight port. Nothing is changed. Otherwise you would see $40 PS1 games on the PS3 like you see $40 NES games on the DS. What do you do when you are watching tv and black bars are on the side?

Man oh man, Suikoden Tierkreis is rough. I think they let a 4th grade class write and voice act this one as an end-of-the-year project.

My favourite scene is when they find a mysterious book in the middle of a room in the dungeon. It looked like someone pooed the floor. "What is that??" And then dude goes up to touch it.

I'm playing both. ;)

SJ is kind of intense, so I thought I'd break it up with something lighter. And poorly done. So y'know, I'd appreciate SJ's quality more.

a few more levels and I should be able to kill the last boss in Devil Survivor, great game :thumb:

the last part is pretty insane though, there's like 5 bosses plus the last boss with 2 forms to beat... all of them one after the other without saving/recovery... ouch

Singularity

I play it inbetween changing my pants. I didn't think FEAR or Bioshock was all that scary. I think Singularity is scary as hell. Atmosphere is spot on. The beginning tutorial is really slow but the pace really picks up. The guns feel like HL. The atmosphere is like Bioshock. The time powers work very well. And the monsters are wicked. They can eat alot of bullets if you don't shoot'em in the head. Although taking chunks and limbs off of them is well worth the extra few bullets.

I'm a couple hours from the end and it's a PSOne RPG. I'm talking anime montage opening to scripted battles you can't win to talk to the random person in order to progress the story to dungeons with no maps and side paths going nowhere. Like it or hate it, that's what it is.

The one thing that is absolutely inexcusable for me is the leveling system. They want you to be able to use who you want when you want. So... your guys power level to par like MAD. I'm talking bring a lvl 45 and a lvl 35 to a fight and one'll get 80 EXP and the other'll have 7500. So it takes like 5 fights to bring anyone up to full levels. That sounds helpful, but here's what sucks: it makes random battles useless. Once you start getting less than 150 EXP from battles, there's no point to fighting. Just run from every battle and you'll make it up in the first 2 battles of the next dungeon. So I've run from easily more than half the battles without a problem because this is, without a doubt in my mind, the absolute easiest RPG I've ever played. You can autobattle your way through the whole thing. Even with half a party of mages using attacks.

Oh, the other problem: Where the fock is the quick save? I had to close the DS a number of times cause I'd go over an hour without a save anywhere.

I do enjoy a number of the characters and kind of like the story though, so that's why I've stuck with it so long. So, story, (most of the) dialogue and voice acting definitely improve.

It's definitely a mixed bag. I don't regret the purchase and I'm about to finish it, but I don't know that I can recommend it. It is what it is. Not bad, but not particularly great either. Oh, and character models are ugly. Pretty backgrounds, cool anime versions, but in game models are awful.

Beat form 1 of Final Boss. Beat form 2. Form 3 comes along. Almost dead. Everyone attacks. He does his hit everyone for 95% HP attack. Next turn, set people up to heal. He does that attack again first move. So yeah, literally impossible to survive. And to put into perspective just how cheap that is: I beat the boss before him in 1 1/2 turns. That's how overpowered my squad is. And the best part (TSL will love this): No goddamned save point before him. So time to replay a dungeon.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with this damned genre.
