Shit didn't take long to hit the fan.

It happened even SOONER than we thought.

I just started SMT: Strange Journey. I've only played to the first save point, so other than the fact that the introduction up to the point where you enter a name was almost 30 minutes long, there is nothing to talk about yet.

wow I though there would be parts you wouldn't like about the game but the controls, camera, and gameplay were the last things I thought would be a problem. One of the things people always praised about MGS4 was that the controls and gameplay were modernized and easy to pick up and play since past MGS games had awkward control schemes and gameplay problems. I really hope you try to finish the game though because it definitely gets better!

Met Drebin. Started it up this morning and got the hang of it. Things are going well now. Doubt I'll use Drebin, though, since that's pretty much contrary to the whole "Alone inside the enemy camp" ideal if you can call up new ammo mid battle. Also, man that Drebin convo went on forever and kept saying the same two things over and over and over.

I have been playing Nier. And even though it pulled some wack ass crap on me already I am still digging it. I picked up this sidequest where I had to deliver a package. No big deal right? I mean I was heading to talk to the guy anyways. Oh what is that? If i get hit by any enemy then the package breaks and I fail? And can you repeat that last part? If I try and use my evade technique the package breaks and I fail? And I gotta make it across a heavily infested bridge? So after a gazillion reloads and a few hours to make a 5 minute trip I beat it. Then spent the rest of the night farming. Literally. Plant seeds, water, and wait. I got all the seeds I need to grow a white moonflower. Tried last night but didn't get one. So I will be back at it today. 2 trophies rely on my luck at growing one.

Whoever designed these levels should be shot. God help me if I ever know where I am, where I'm going or how the blue hell I'm supposed to get there. And I know you're old, but can we try just climbing over the goddamned bags of sand? Maybe? I saw your ass bust out crazy acrobatics before, so what gives?

Yup, I officially hate this game. I feel obliged to play it since it closes out the MGS saga that I've played and I loved 3 so much. Unfortunately, 3 hours into this and it's absurdly unfun. These levels are AWFUL, Snake controls very much like a game character, these cutscenes are incredibly long and say absolutely freaking nothing, the characters are dull and I could give less a damn about the story. Also, there hasn't been so much as one crazy ass boss or awesome scenario. But Meryl's back. To tell us "Liquid's up ahead." Thank God for that battlefield intel.

I'm scared to. I think I may just hate video games now. I think I turned into TSL. First music and now games. :(

nate - I wasn't impressed with the first Chapter myself, but the game gets absolutely amazing.

I think you picked the wrong time to play it.

Honestly, I've lost track of what nate's even playing. I thought he was playing Ratchet & Clank when he was playing inFamous. Now I know he's not playing inFamous, but is he playing MGS4? It's all a blur of hate and "this is the worst thing I've ever played."

When have I said "worst thing I've ever played?" That's a status still held by Braid or maybe Harmony of Dissonance. I appreciate the irony of you using hyperbole to whine about me using hyperbole, though.

To recap: Fallout 3 was a miserable experience. Some people might like it, but it very much wasn't for me. Ratchet and Clank was a great game that I let trophies ruin for me. inFamous was an awful game in all regards except maybe city design, but had potential to be awesome if they tweaked just about everything. Metal Gear Solid 4 was no fun for the entirety of Act 1. I considered quitting there, but picked it up this morning and actually am having MUCH more fun with Act 2. Thank God the " straight street filled with soldiers, find the hidden ladder or blind turn alley" mechanic was tossed aside. I didn't realize we'd have multiple locations, so thank goodness that one's done.

Hey, it's not me who's been a broken record for four pages. 8) When a majority of what you say involves "I am so over this game," "I officially hate this game," "This game can go screw itself," "This game sucks," "Whoever designed this game should be shot," and etc. forever, I simply assumed taking it to "worst game ever" territory wasn't such a huge stretch. But now I know better. :lol2:

No one asks you to read anything I write. I vocalize my frustrations. DCL smashes controllers, I rant. It saves me quite a bit of money.

Furthermore, consider that parts of it are tongue and cheek. Hell, my avatar right now is the Red Lanterns, the living embodiment of rage, as a self-referential allusion to this thread. Clearly I'm not taking myself overly serious.

So yeah, Act 2 is MUUUUCH more fun. I've got a little more freedom in how I tackle stages, there's diversity in the stages and my exits are pretty clear. I still am pretty meh about the plot though the twist about Col. Campbell's new wife was Wowo. Still, the game is pretty tedious (not necessarily in a bad way, it just moves slow and requires a good chunk of concentration), so I have to put it down pretty often.
