@DLC: That video actually doesn't do the game justice since it is on one of the more boring stages and in the lowest speed class.

The $10 "Fury" add-on pack looks great. I hear it has a lot more of the abstract acid-trip levels. I'm definitely getting this once I finish the regular campaign.

All you guys thinking of getting this game should just get it so we can maybe start a wipeout thread instead of spamming this one :lol2:

Yeah, me too. I've heard Fury's actually better than the main game and offers as much content.

I have been playing Last Rebellion for what the save says is 8 hours. I should have this game beat by 10.

I've never liked Wipeout. I tried playing it once before, but the controls are just too loose and the game never felt as polished as F-Zero, which I highly enjoy playing. Even watching these latest Wipeout videos, I can tell that this problem has not been fixed, based on all of the players never going in a straight line, but instead constantly seeming to zigzag across the track as if it cannot be helped.

Also, didn't this game used to have ads before every race? I've heard they've been removed, but that was so lame.

So turns out this runs smooth as silk online for me. Both blazBlue and LBP are laggy as hell with other people online, but this one is gold. So that's really, really exciting. What's less exciting is the fact that everyone's like level 50-85. Still, I've done surprisingly well considering I a. suck and b. am horribly outranked. I haven't pulled off a win (only played 5 games), but I have gotten a couple of 2nd places. I'm also proud of the fact I've gotten a title each time. Most Accurate FTW! :D

Ya, I didn't like the controls in the first wipeout either.

I see what you mean, but there's a feature in the PS3 version called pilot assist that's new to the series I think. It prevents you from hitting the sides of the track when going in a straight line and it really helps with that problem. When I have that feature turned off I do zigzag a lot trying to not hit the sides.

@DLC: My bad, won't happen again.

Get on the upper rail on Anulpha on Phantom and we'll see how much pilot assist helps that issue.

Oh I'm well aware of that problem on anulpha pass. :lol2: I've played that stage so many times trying to get the "Beat zico" trophy. I heard it was the hardest trophy in the game but I went for it anyway :lol2: . I have a high score addiction in this game. I keep playing speed laps and time trials over and over again trying to beat my previous times even though I already have the gold on elite. I actually got to 600 in the global rankings on Sebenco Climb for speed lap and 800 for time trial! That's the best I've got so far, I love that stage now

Really annoying: Why can't Wipeout filter by ranking? I FINALLY found a race with people somewhat close to my level (I'm 3 and they were all in the teens) and then a level 50 and a level 80 came in pretty much to just boost their scores after a single freaking race. This really isn't fun when you can't get paired with people at your level. I thought that shit came standard with online modes.

I don't know about Wipeout HD, but many games handle online differently. There are a few basic styles on online gaming...

- Ranked Matchmaking: Like Halo for example. Players are lobbied into games with others who are closest to their level first, and then the level cap expands. So, if you were level 20, the game would try to match you with other level 20 players before expanding to 18-22, then 16- 24, etc...

- Player Hosting: Like Ghost Recon, allow a player to set up a lobby and then determine the rules of the game, how many people can join, who can join (including the ability to kick out players), etc... This is my favorite matchmaking type because it allows for a group of random people to continue playing together for hours if they want to. As long as the host keeps the lobby open, everyone can keep having a good time playing together.

As a side note, I'd like to say that I have met a lot of cool people online in the past by playing GR2 (Xbox), and sometimes we would play for 6-9 hours straight, while taking small breaks and such. This just isn't possible with other online matchmaking types.

- Random Matchmaking: Like COD4, is my least favorite. The game doesn't match people based on their levels so it is possible to have people who are of a much higher level whooping everybody else, which isn't fun. Also, you don't really get to play with the same people for too long, usually just a couple of games, before either the lobby times out or everyone leaves, etc...

This last stage of Campaign suuuuuucks. Everything's Phantom class. Meaning you're lucky if you even see a 6th place because you're moving so fast, you couldn't navigate if you wanted to. I may be able slough my way through the singles, but a Tournament at this speed? Not only will it be next to impossible, but it'll take 10 goddamned years to lose. I really wanted to finish this one, but I don't know if I'll be able to. :(

I'm calling foul. I've been shot up multiple times now in last place on the first lap. THERE'S NO ONE FREAKING BEHIND ME!

Edit: I'm done with this. This is no longer fun. It's a shame that this final section is so poorly handled with cheap tactics because the rest of the game was so incredibly done. I mean, I've finished the game, I just haven't ranked in a chunk of the final singles or the tournament. In 3 hours of game time, I only took down 3 singles, though, and had absolutely 0 fun doing it (especially since it was a crapshoot whether or not the game would let you).

Edit 2: Great, this is turning into Fallout 3. Where I want to just be freaking DONE already, but can't put it down. And all its doing is make me dislike it more and more. Which is no end of frustrating because I loved this game, but this goddamned end section is AWFUL. I've only got Sebenco and the tournament left, so I keep talking myself into "just finishing it up." :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Started Crack in Time. This game is AWESOME. Great first two levels. Story's good, dialogue's back on point, I'm having a lot of fun and things are pretty exciting in the game.

Question for those who've beaten it: Are all the secret trophies plot related? I don't want to spoil it any more than I already have (saw some stuff relating to a general and know the final boss), trying to see if there are accomplishment based ones in there.
