So yeah, been reading Outrageous Fortune as my "waiting" diversion, it pretty interesting, sci fi, in the world of the future areas are based on musical taste from the architecture to the the general tone of the area, The guy is a dream designer has his house stolen, encyclopedia salespersons travel in helicopters with heavy atrilary, and he just got kidnapped by a four bikers. That's as far as I got and haven't gotten through the first chapter yet.

I hate when you know what book you want to read and no bookstore within 80 miles has it. I'd be cool with getting it from Amazon, but by the time it got here Spring Break would be over. :(

Sometimes I become aware of how out of step I am with other readers. Like today when my mother (who reads more than even I do, but a very different type of book) asked me what I was bringing to the beach. I told her I was in the middle of Les Mis and she responded with, "Oh come on, that's boring. You need to bring something fun to read!" So I respond with, "You know what? I have been meaning to reread Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War!"

Hey, George RR Martin, I don't give a $%#^ about the television series, you tool. Finish the goddamned books already! Maybe if you took some time off from editing every freaking fantasy compilation under the sun, you might be able to finish something in less than 6 years.
