I can almost 100% say that CD is going to be awful though. "That's Tha Homie" is probably all the confirmation I need.

Just bought 50's new one. 2 things contributed to this purchase:

1. It was $5 on Amazon
2. I had to see if it was worth listening to because it's part of the reason we had to wait so long for Relapse and Detox.

I really hope Detox is on your list of most anticipated CDs of 2010, just so I can laugh at the fact that for 3 years I've known you that's been on your most anticipated list. :D

Oh yeah, I bought the new Cage CD a couple days ago. It was... interesting. Some stuff was decent and could be quite good, but other stuff was absolutely awful. It was a curiousity purchase though, so it wasn't like I expected anything of it.

Rob Thomas- It sounds exactly like Rob Thomas.

John Mayer- Another disappointment. Most of it's not bad, but I've listened a handful of times and couldn't hum you a single tune. It does feature a jarring and ridiculously out of place cover, a poor single and a completely pointless 6 word Taylor Swift appearance.

I just found out about the new Cascada album. The single is infectious. I'm pissed that iTunes has the album, but Amazon doesn't.

Lil Wayne's rock CD accidentally got shipped to pre-orders last week via Amazon and this week Target has it in their ads. And yet, it's not supposed to be out til February. See, rappers? This is what happens when you constantly push your CDs back and back.

How did I know that Animal Collective would top that list? I haven't even heard the album and I know it's the greatest album ever conceived.

On another note, I really should give Raekwon's new one a shot. Never really been huge into him, but people can't stop talking about his new album.

I called it too.

But yeah, that Raekwon CD is awesome-sauce. And like I said in the other thread, I'm not a fan of him, Ghostface or mafioso BS rap. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I hate 2 of those 3 items (the latter 2). It's definitely rap album of the year though.

Speaking of rap... So I saw this music video the other day. AWFUL song, just embarassingly bad. But the people in the video were convinced this was the most banging joint of all time. So Sarah and I watch the video, laughing at the badass mixture of chorus and New Moon clips. Then the credits come up and our jaws drop.

From this video and the previews, I swear I'm gonna have to see that movie because things look so hilariously over the top awful that it circles back around to completely awesome.

Well, they named it 14th best of the decade, and Pitchfork was the publication that's been hyping Animal Collective since back when they were first starting out. It would have been pretty illogical for them to have chosen anything else...

I really like most of what I've heard from their top choices. Well, except for The XX. I still don't understand what everyone sees in them.

Well, it's not even like this year was that heavy of a year anyway. I'd probably say it was one of the five best records...probably closer to one of the two or three, though I am always shocked by the lack of hipster attention given to mewithoutYou, but whatever. Besides, Phoenix made into the top 8, and it's got like three really really great songs, a bunch of good hooks, and not much else, and is considered one of the year's best.

Well, I think Mount Eerie's album being almost completely ignored is downright criminal, but we can't all get what we want. :P

Some others- AFI- Good, but it didn't stay in rotation long. Better than December Underground, though.
Lily Allen- Really clever stuff. I like it a lot even if the 2nd half isn't as strong as the first.
Shakira- It'd help if 1/4 of this CD wasn't different versions of She Wolf. The constant reptition of songs over and over is annoying. Lots of good choruses though even if the verses are lacking.

Looked into some stuff that was topping Best Of lists that I hadn't bothered with: Wasn't feeling Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Grizzly Bear was kind of cringe worthy. I did enjoy Phoenix a lot, so I may look into that one.

I don't know what the flock is going on with mewithoutyou though. Something about a fox and crow beefing over a cookie sung by a tone deaf lead singer/speaker in a balladeer style that reminded me of Decemberists meets Sufjan Stevens. And yet, I found it strangely compelling. The weird thing is I could almost swear I remember this being a Christian pop-punkish band, which is why I never bothered checking into them before. :?

EDIT: Wait! I know this other Phoenix song! Didn't know who it was though.
