Your Name: Jason Wnuk Email: jasonfwnuk@hotmail.com How I Heard of ICWF: Chris Hopper Can you write matches for the ICWF? (This really impresses the higher-ups in the ICWF.) [ ] Weekly writer [ ] Pay Per View Writer [ X ] Emergency Writer (_DIRE_ EMERGENCY, PLEASE!) Wrestler: "Modern Messiah" Setzer Van Strife Height: 6'1" Weight: 229lbs. Hails From: Chicago, IL Appearance: Van Strife is of average size and build, not "ripped" muscle-wise but in very good shape. He has black hair, worn spiked on top and shaved around the sides and in the back (think Randy Orton). He has a tongue and eyebrow piercing (right eyebrow), a sleeve of Japanese images tattooed on his left arm (dragons, tigers, koi goldfish, samurai warriors, etc), and a tattoo of a tribal inspired sun on the back of his neck. As Van Strife is approaching 30 and his almost 10 years in the ring, there are definitely signs of aging... nothing he'll admit to, though, especially with regular injections of Botox to cover them up. As far as ring gear, Van Strife sticks to his Lynch Mob roots. To the ring, he wears a black t-shirt emblazoned with a scene of 3 men hanging in the sunset, the words "LYNCH MOB RULES" below it. He wears a pair of black trunks, baggy and just below the knee (think CM Punk's indy trunks) with "LYNCH MOB" down the right side and "VAN STRIFE" down the left side in blood red script and a pair of black boots. And, as always, he has a pair of black Oakley sunglasses and his trusty Singapore Cane. Type of wrestler: Daredevil High Flyer Alignment: Heel Gimmick: Van Strife has been in the business for a long time. Granted, not all of it has been on camera, but it's been a long, long time. In his career, he's had a lot of accomplishments. He's been in all the "big" feds, won some "big" titles, and squared off against some "big" names. But the one thing he's never accomplished is being noted alongside those feds, those titles, and those names. He's always known as the guy who almost made it... and in Van Strife's life, almost doesn't count. He's been fairly absent the last few years, making an appearance here and there but nothing concrete. Does he need this? Nope. He's got money. He's got other avenues. But he's tired of not being respected, not being appreciated, and not being compared to the same men who he helped bring into the business. Now, it's his turn to shine... by any means necessary. Story: Does the backstory really need to be told? Is there actually someone who's been living under a rock for almost 10 years and doesn't know who Setzer Van Strife is? Van Strife started his career in 1997 in the XCW, where after just a few weeks, he was crowned the first XCW World Heavyweight Champion. In the 10 years that his career has spanned, he's been in every "big name" promotion of the time -- SCRA, EMWC, UWF, INWI -- and has held "big name" titles. He is a founding member, along with LOCO, of the Lynch Mob... one of the most ruthless, violent stables in wrestling history. With an ego that's too large for any arena, a mean streak that's tougher than anyone, and a willingness to put his body on the line, Van Strife is truly a legend of the sport. Though he's been retired for the past 3 years or so, his presence is still in the industry. He is the founder and head trainer of the Starstruck Academy, which has produced such stars as Christopher Street and Chance McKenzie, he is a partner and wrestler in the Wisconsin indy Dairyland Pro, and he's been known to don a mask and wrestle every now and again as El Ego Fantastico. And now, as he comes back to the ring, it'll be as if he never really went away. He's coming back for one final chance at greatness, a final chance to silence the critics who said he'd never make it big. 15 Common Moves: 1. Lariat (sitout, flying, running) 2. Palm Strike (standard, jumping, running) 3. European Uppercut 4. Dropkick (seated, jumping, off the turnbuckles) 5. Roaring Elbow 6. Plancha (standard and all variations) 7. Moonsault (standard and all variations) 8. Elbow Strike/Roaring Elbow 9. Flying Head Scissors 10. Huracanrana 11. Dropkick (standard and sitout) 12. Forearm Strike (running, flying) 13. Heel Kick (flying, spinning) 14. Axe Kick (off ropes, standing) 15. Shooting Star Press (running, standing, off turnbuckle) 16. Drop Toehold Turnbuckle Smash 17. Dragon Suplex (hold & release versions) 18. Tiger Suplex (hold & release versions) 19. Tiger Feint Kick/Sayama Feint Kick 20. Sasuke Special/Space Flying Tiger Drop 21. Somersault Kick 22. Jumping High Kick 23. Knife-Edge Chops (regular & spinning versions) 24. Tope Con Hilo 25. Dragon Screw Legwhip 26. Boot Scrapes 27. Throat Strike 28. Back Fist (normal & spinning versions) 29. Shining Wizard Kneestrike/Shining Wizard Enzuigiri 30. Northern Lights Suplex 1. Fallen Angel Driver - Double Pumphandle Reverse Piledriver: Delirious performs a double pumphandle reverse piledriver, named the Chemical Imbalance II, in which he stands behind a bent over opponent and threads both of the opponent's arms between their legs. He then grabs both of the opponent's wrists with both hands and lifts up, forcing the opponent to flip forward. The opponent then lands on their head in the piledriver while Delirious falls to a sitout position. 2. Fallen Angel Cutter - Osaka Street Cutter: This stunner variation sees the wrestler apply an inverted facelock on an opponent, before hooking their tights and lifting them straight up in the air so that they are upside down. The wrestler then lets the opponent's body fall backwards over their shoulder and when the opponent's feet lands on the mat the wrestler drops to a seated position to force the opponent's jaw to drop down on the shoulder of the attacking wrestler. 3. Fallen Angel Wings - Somersault Flying Double Stomp: With the opponent on the mat, Van Strife climbs to the top rope, then leaps off, does a somersault, and lands a double stomp onto the opponent's chest/midsection. Finisher and Description: Starstruck Driver - Van Strife grabs the opponent in a standard front suplex hold, then grabs the opponent by his right ankle. Van Strife lifts as if doing a suplex, but also rolls the opponent into a front driver, ending up dropping the opponent on their head and neck. This move is Mike Quackenbush's QD3 as best as I can describe it in detail. Set-up Move for Finisher: Normally, it's a kick to the midsection, but it can be applied in a reversal as well. VERY RARE FINISHER: When I say rare, it's not like "hey, use it once per match." No, this is rare as in PPV, "blood feud," and title matches. This is as in nothing else is working, the opponent is resiliant, and Van Strife is out of options. This is... well... you get it. Future Shock - Van Strife first finisher, one he was able to do frequently as a younger wrestler, but not so much with him being older. Van Strife does a Shooting Star Press, catches the opponent's head, and does a DDT. Entrance Music: "Downfall" by TrustCompany Describe your entrance (including lighting, pyrotechnics and what you would like to see displayed on the IntenseTron - please make sure this is as detailed as possible because this will be cut and pasted and used as your entrance for your matches): RA: Introducing first... ["Downfall" by TRUSTCompany begins to play over the P.A. System.] RA: ...hailing from Chicago, Illinois. Standing 6'1" and weighing in at 222 pounds... "MODERN MESSIAH" SETZER VAN STRIFE! [The lights in the arena slowly dim down to darkness, with a display of colored lights beginning to dance and swirl up and down the aisle and all around the entrance. The jumbotron above the entrance then lights up, showing two words in big letters, the words wrapped around with barbed wire against a dark red background... the crowd booing as they see it. "MODERN MESSIAH" Those words shatter like glass, dissolving into a shot of the Los Angeles riots from the 1990s. Policemen in their riot gear are shown fighting simple citizens, who are throwing rocks and bottles at their shields. That shot also dissolves, showing Van Strife blasting Lawrence Williams over the head with a Singapore Cane, breaking it in two.] # Fear in me so deep # It gets the best of me # In the fear I fall # Here it comes, face to face with me [That image also shatters, dissolving into a shot inside a random strip club. Multiple scantily-clad women are seen dancing half-naked under the colored lights, with old and decrepit men shoving dollar bills down their thongs. That shot then dissolves as well, showing Van Strife nailing his Starstruck Driver onto Eric Cooper from on a ladder.] # Here I stand # Hold back so no one can see # I feel these wounds [That image also shatters, dissolving into a shot of three men hanging, their shadows swaying back and forth as a beautiful sunset goes down behind their lifeless bodies -- the trademark shot of the Lynch Mob. That shot then dissolves as well, showing Van Strife blasting Johnny Malibu in the head with a steel chair, busting him wide open.] # Step down... # Step down... # Step... [A line of sparks start to go off from the beginning of the aisleway, towards the ringside area. They start moving quickly towards the entrance, as if a fuse being lit. The words "SETZER VAN STRIFE" flash quickly past the screen, finishing simultaneously as the sparks reach the entrance... finishing with a HUGE multicolor pyrotechnic display.] # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # BA - BOOM! # # DOWN! # Am I breaking... DOWN?! [Walking out from the smoke and light display is "Modern Messiah" Setzer Van Strife, who gets a _massive_ heel pop as he struts out, a cocky smirk plastered upon his face. Van Strife stands there for a moment, a shower of golden sparks beginning to rain down on him... the crowd booing louder as he raises his Singapore Cane high into the air. Van Strife is dressed in a pair of black knee length trunks, with "LYNCH MOB" down the right leg and "VAN STRIFE" down the left leg. On the back, it reads "SVS," with all of the writing in a bright green. He also wears his trademark black Oakley sunglasses, and in his right hand he holds his trusty Singapore Cane, ready to fight.] # Can I break away # Push me away # Make me fall # Just to see # Another side of me [The shower of sparks ceases, and Van Strife begins to walk down to ringside with a look of _complete_ confidence upon his face. The fans in the front rows begin to insult him, throw things, and instigate him... but Van Strife walks past them without a care. Instead, the "Modern Messiah" stays focused on the ring.] # Push me away # You can't see # What I see # The other side of me [Van Strife gets to the ringside area, where he stands at the ring apron before sliding into the ring underneath the bottom ropes... immediately nipping up to his feet. Standing in the center of the ring, Van Strife raises the Singapore Cane into the air a second time, getting yet another sizable round of boos and jeers from the fans.] # No one can see # Everything on the other side of me # I wal, I crawl # Losing everything and waiting for a downfall [Van Strife walks over to the corner, placing the Singapore Cane underneath the bottom rope. He then leans against the turnbuckles. Flashing his trademark cocky smirk, he cracks his knuckles as he patiently waits the opening bell.] |
