Did you not say in your post that you can shield bash? Now, I was never into the whole battling thing growing up, so I might not know what I'm talking about, but is bashing not a form of attacking? |

Actually, the shield bash is more of just a stunning move. It causes the opponent to be knocked back a bit and falter, leaving them open to attack. The shield bash doesn't actually do any damage, itself, however. |

Alright, two little tidbits of news, the second of which I'm considerably more excited about. The first is that several magazine and video game news companies witnessed a brief demo of the first bit of game after character creation. It mostly just confirms what we already know, but it does paint a better picture of what dragon fights will be like. Here is one of the write-ups, if you want others I'm sure you can find them easily enough: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/8797-Skyrim-Preview Second tidbit of news: Bethesda is looking to implement user created content in Skyrim for the 360 and PS3! That means mods on the consoles, if you require the layman's terms.
So, yeah. Freaking sweet. |

The second one is very hopeful, but doubtful that it's going to turn out. The only possible way I can see this happening is if Beth takes the time to upload a bunch of third-party mods to the PSN Store or Microsoft Store depending on your console. A) I think the good people of Beth are going to be reluctant to do that, B) I think the respective companies of Sony and Microsoft will be reluctant as that's going to be a lot of information clutter on their apparatus for only one game. The most likely thing that will happen is that Beth will upload something like 5 of the most popular and easiest to integrate mods to the respective console stores, and that is both lack-luster compared to the original idea and still highly unlikely to happen. |

Well, I don't know about the PS3, but you can use usb flash drives as storage devices for the 360, so it's possible you could just transfer them that way, |

What...? Todd and Bethesda are the people who want to do it to begin with. It'll be up to Sony and Microsoft. |

No, he wants to make mods available to console users. I doubt he'd be willing to take that rout, though. It just would not be cost effective. |

You can use USBs in the PS3 as well. In which case, that might be quite cool; I would have got Fallout 3 and New Vegas for my PC over my PS3 simply for their mods, actually, only they were unable to run them, hence the purchase of the PS3 versions. Still, this looks fairly promising so far. |

Just because you have a goal, it doesn't mean that every means of achieving that goal is acceptable. The rout which I described doesn't seem like something that Bethesda would an acceptable means to an end. |

You keep assuming that Todd and Beth wouldn't want to go through the trouble to get this thing started, but they are the ones trying to get Microsoft and Sony to do it. It's not a matter of if Todd/Beth want to do it, because they DO want to. It's Sony and Microsoft that stands in the way. |

Ok, so in video game development, devs want to do stuff that they think will be cool and the consumers will enjoy. However, once the game goes into production, they realize that some of the cool stuff that they really want to do is just not feasible because they can't find a way of doing it without it losing them money. Thus the cool thing, although it breaks the devs' hearts, gets cut. I'm not saying they don't want to do this. I'm saying that they're not gonna want to take the rout that I specifically described because it's not going to be cost effective. Not that this argument matters any more since Vanir and Mustard described a different way of doing it that seems a lot more plausible. |

Thing is, they are gonna have to get mods onto the console somehow. So either a. Beth uploads some selected mods or b. take advantage of using the usb ports to transfer files. Either way, doesn't seem as intuitive. I'll stick with my PC ![]() Btw I love the way Skyrim looks |

Todd says the technology of the mods are the same between the 360 and PC. There just needs to be a way of transferring the mods. |

Oh hey, lettuce. What are the odds? So, I think we're all in agreement: Either they upload a select few, or make use of the USB drive feature. Either way, I'm happy. Even if they end up just uploading the most popular ones, it's better than nothing. |

You're all missing the third option: outsourcing. They don't need to waste time uploading to their own servers when they can just redirect the store to someone who already has, i.e. a mod site like TES Nexus. Then, they just need to rework their servers a bit to make them compatible with the online store, and the consoles will have access to every mod. Yes, it would be some work to do, but it's certainly the best option. The hardest part would be convincing Microsoft and Sony to form a partnership with a third party fansite. |
