Meh, I really have no intention of playing any MMO, even if it is TES-based. All I can say, is that I'm rather disappointed that Bethesda is going down this path. |

Same here. I know it's not actually Bethesda developing the game, but still... |

It better be free. If I have to pay a cent after I buy the game, I'm not playing. |

I'm assuming by, "It better be free," you're referring to the subscription, correct? Obviously, they're not going to be giving the game away. However, I tend to think not. This is Bethesda we're talking about, the company that nickel and dimed us to death with $5 DLC. I really don't think they'll let this potential goldmine of subscription fees to pass by. |

That's a shame. I really think that Guild Wars set a great precedent with its no monthly fee policy. |

Yeah, that's why I said "even if it isn't actually Bethesda." I guess I'm just not interested in the MMO thing. I don't know. *shrug* |

Yeah, I am not an MMO fan in general, although I will have a go with it, especially if the Beth mods are given free accounts so they can play it.

Then what is to worry? There is no reason to deprive MMO'ers of a TES MMO if no one else gets affected. There is really no reason to complain, sulk, etc etc. The excuse I don't like MMOs doesn't fly because other people do, and you don't have to play it. There is no "bad" path they are going on. Some of the best games are MMO's, such as EVE online. The only thing keeping me back from playing is the subscription fee. |

EVE? The game that somehow manages to achieve the impossible by making interstellar travel boring?Sure it does. We're geeks. Geeks complain about everything. If a game doesn't meet our inhumanly possible expectations, then we complain about it and pick at every nit until we finally declare that the entire thing is crap. I mean, there were people who honestly said that Wind Waker was a terrible game because Link had family unlike the other games. Talk about petty... |

I don't see how depth makes a game non-boring. A game could be as deep as the ocean and still be as boring as watching grass grow. |

I wouldn't really call MMO players "human." Maybe, "sub-human" or "human-like proto-species." I mean, anyone who plays a game that is essentially a second job, except one that you pay for instead of get paid for can't be human.

I don't think this would work very well. I would rather see some sort of TES strategy game of some sort, like The elder scrolls: Total war |

I was thinking about a MMO TES the other day... well not specifically an MMO, but a multiplayer. I was thinking about Gayble and how fun it was to wander with a friend and kill stuff and complete quests together. Then I thought about the possibilities there would if TES had a multiplayer feature... If my brother has a Lv 9 Mage and wants help from my Lv 20 Assassin with this one quest the Dark Brotherhood gave him, why cant I help him? If his mage turns rogue and needs help massacring Pells Gate, why cant he hire a Warrior from Australia to fight with him? But Im thinking more "multiplayer" than I am "MMO". An MMO requires more than a couple handfuls of players from around the world to play on the same map. Im not too familliar with exactly how MMOs work because Ive only played a few and it wasnt for long. (They didnt hold my attention) But from what I understand, quests are individual but you may contract someone to help. I like this idea, being able to help another player with something and work with him/her to achieve a goal that rewards both players with exp and/or gold and items and such. MMOs make you pay... why? I have no idea... I havent seen or played an MMO worth a dime. If youre buying the game itself (CD, software) why would you pay a monthly subscription? Again, I have no idea... TES is a great game series as we all should know by now but its not worth a monthly payment to go out and play with other peeps. I dont know anything about how a TES MMO would be set up and played but at this time I dont think any game is worth a monthly payment. If TES MMO is a money muncher, Ill have play a trial before I slap down my paycheck. From what I hear, WoW was addicting, time consuming, and had you starting at a screen for hours on end. Not that I haven't gamed for hours like this but if it turns into an every day thing... somethings wrong ![]() So to summarize, I welcome a multiplayer experience from TES because playing with other people is fun and the idea of traveling with another human around Tamriel instead of the AI sounds much more fun and opens a whole other door in terms of stradegy. I welcome the MMO if it doesnt require me to sit and play all day long, wasting away my money. Possibly being able to travel about the land looting dungeons, killing traveling merchants, hunting for rare monsters, and even role-playing with a friend or someone abroad sounds fantastic! All in all I'd like to see what they can come up with. TES hasn't let me down yet, even the meager Arena had my attention for several days... and although its apparently being developed by another company, I still have interest in my favorite series of video games and I would like to at least try it before I jump to a conclusion. |

The reason I don't want them to put a multiplayer aspect in the normal TES games is that it would take away from other areas that the greatly need to work on, such as storytelling and actually getting most of the lore correct (a huge problem I had with OB, among other things). I'm to the point where I don't care if they make a multiplayer game, just be sure to give it its own game. |

Very good point. The AI sucked, the NPCs were totally lame-o, dungeons were too predictable, lore seemed to be told by a second grade TES fan, and so many other things. Yes, that is indeed an issue. Though how hard would it be to allow another players avatar to jump into your world and give you a hand? ... I don't know, but if its easy then I say give us the option. |

Those things aren't as easy as you think. It takes a lot of time and resources to get it right and make sure it's stable. And not just the animations and the actual ability to let players play together, but also the entire system of sharing items, experience, gold, etc, etc, etc. Like I said, too much time taken away from more important areas. Just make an entire MMO, don't put a multiplayer option into the single player mode. |
