So you're opting for them dropping everything and completely remaking TES from the ground up? Taking away all free will from amongst it's players and forcing them into cardboard cutout roles? Then it's not really TES anymore, is it? The one thing TES has always been know for, the one thing that has remained constant in all the games is the player's ability to choose his or her own path. I mean, you can play the games just fine without even touching the main quest arc! I highly doubt that will change in the transition to MMO.

It could be like Guild Wars.
It could have a main quest with one ending. It depends on how the game is made.

TES is NON-LINEAR. It has always been as such and will always remain as such.

I don't understand how making it into a MMO will change it.
TES is totally linear. Its a sandbox world with linear quests.

The quests are linear, but the world is not. The simple fact of it's existence as a sandbox game negates its linearity.

MMOs aren't linear then.

So how wouldn't it work then?
You're making no sense. :P

How is TES not linear, exactly? As far as I've ever seen, every game that's come out under the TES title is very chronological. Even the endings, which could be mass-varied, are tied up to contain one end.

Also, one word: Skyrim.

Bethesda Game Studios are working on the next game. As always they are tight lipped about it and will not release any information until they are ready and have something good to show and discuss, so no change there. All we can hope for is that it will be a TES game but don't expect anything in the immediate future.

Zenimax Online Studios are again working on a game but will not be releasing anything until the time is right. Any MMO will come from here, not BGS as they are sticking with their single player games.

There is nothing more to be said really, except for all those who want to make suppositions, guesses and wishful thinking.

Yeah, I was just being boring and giving the "official" reply. B-)

Because everyone knows and loves (mostly) the TES series any little tit-bit of news is jumped on and blown up out of all proportion. I want a new game as much as anyone else, the only problem is worrying about whether my comp will run it. So much so I am thinking of upgrading my tower unit after Xmas with something that is going to be OK - *gah* I hate spending money.

See, that's one reason why I'm glad I have a 360. My laptop is a very crappy gaming computer (duh, Reds, it's a laptop).

I think you should be fine. Fallout 3 is easier on my computer than Oblivion, so if that trend continues, TES:V should be easier on it than FO:3, and I only have an okay rig to begin with.

Well its a relief to here that beth can stick with the single player games and Zenimax online is working on anything else.

And if they've started WOOT!

Yeah, we heard that already. I believe we also had a discussion about whether or not a steampunk TES would be good, but let's not bring that up again.

None of that is officially true, however true it may seem. Nothing is concrete until Bethesda says something.

This is just wild speculation, but apparently the Editor-in-Chief for Game Informer, Andy McNamara, tweeted this message on Twitter:

"Got the cover art in today for the next issue. Giant sequel not at E3, and the art...well, fantasy nuts are gonna crap themselves."

Source: http://twitter.com/GI_AndyMc/status/15659437114

It know his account on Twitter isn't verified, but I'm going to go ahead and assume it's really him. Like I said, this really doesn't say anything at all, but it still gives us crazy fans something to speculate, right? So do you think he's referring to TESV or something else?

"...fantasy nuts are gonna crap themselves." How many really popular fantasy games that haven't had a sequel announced in a while are there?

There aren't many, Vanir.

And Ninja, that's a lot coming from someone who posted about a statue of Jesus being burnt...

EDIT: And I even said this is probably nothing. If you noticed I asked your all's opinion on the message, not whether or not this is a waste of a post. regardless, this is still speculation, and I'm getting restless. I need something to talk about. If anything this gets us talking about TES, which is kinda the original purpose of this forum
